Neopets HelpChanging Your Neopets Appearance FAQ
How can I change my pets species/color?
There are a number of ways you can change your Neopet's species or colour. Most commonly you can
buy a Magical Paintbrush and then go to the Rainbow Pool. You can paint different pets in
different colours, go to the Rainbow Pool for the full list before you buy a brush. Otherwise you
may waste Neopoints on a brush you cannot use. If you are very lucky you may be given a Paintbrush
as a random event, although this is very rare.
You can also try feeding your Neopet a Magical Potion. Different potions have different effects. For
example if you fed a Red Meerca potion to your Green Gelert, it would change into a Red Meerca. If you fed
it to your Blue Meerca, it would change to a Red Meerca.
You can also risk taking your Neopet to the Secret Lab. You need to collect all nine pieces of the
Secret Lab map before you can go there. Once you have all nine pieces, you can fire the ray gun at
your Neopet. It is completely at your own risk and absolutely anything may happen to your Neopet, including
changing colour or species.
Other magical items may also alter your Neopet, such as Magical Meerca Plushies. Always be wary when
giving your Neopet a new magical toy to play with :)
How do I paint my Neopet?
To use a paintbrush, you need to have your glowing paintbrush in Your
Items. If it is in your safety deposit box you won't be able to use it. Then go to the
Rainbow Pool (click on 'Shops', then on the blue pool with a rainbow going into it).
When you are carrying a brush, there will be several options at the bottom of the rainbow pool. Select
which brush you wish to use, and which pet you wish to paint. Note - Not all pets can
be painted in every colour. To see a full list of what pets can be painted in each colour, click
on the link on the Rainbow Pool page. You can also get to it by clicking
here.
Note: - You can only use a Paintbrush once, then it will vanish.
My Neopet has changed species help!
|
If your Neopet has played with a magical plushie, or has been zapped by the lab ray, it may well have
changed species. The only way for you to change your Neopet back is to get a morphing potion. For
example if your Green Shoyru was turned into a Yellow Meerca, you need to find a Green Shoyru morphing potion
to restore your Neopet.

Why can only certain Neopets be painted certain colours?
The colours your Neopet can change into depend on its species. Some Neopets wouldn't be seen dead in
a Faerie costume but can't get enough of their Halloween gear. Every Neopet will have several options
that you can colour it and we will be adding to these all the time.
How do I turn my Neopet into a Faerie?
First you need to find a Faerie Paintbrush. You can get these from random events, games such as
Dice-A-Roo. Once you have your paintbrush simply take it to the Rainbow Pool
and you can colour your Neopet. Note - not all Neopets can be coloured with the Faerie Paintbrush.
It is best to go to the
Rainbow Pool
and check that your Neopet can be changed before hunting down the Paintbrush.
Are there morphing potions for all types of pets?
At the moment Kauvara is rushed off her feet simply keeping up with the demand for all
her potions. She will be adding more magical brews shortly, including many morphing potions.
Will there ever be a larger variety of colours available when you create a Neopet?
No, whenever you create a Neopet you will have a choice of red, green, yellow, and blue.
If you want to have a different coloured Neopet you can either find a magical paintbrush,
or search through the Adoption Centre.
How do you turn your Neopet into a robot?
This is one of the side effects of the lab ray. The only way
you can turn your Neopet into a robot is by zapping it with the lab ray. Remember, anything can happen, your Neopets won't necessarily
turn into a robot.
If I give my Neopet a transmogrification potion, will it change its stats?
No, your Neopet will keep all its old stats, and you can still increase them as normal.
When you change a pet using a morphing potion does it change its likes and dislikes to that of the species or
does just the picture change?
Its likes and dislikes will stay the same, but it will adopt any natural
attributes that the new species has, such as a Scorchio's resistance to fire, or a Skeith's ability to eat anything.
How do I know what colours I can paint my Neopet?
This varies depending on what species you own. For a
complete listing of what colours each Neopet can be painted, go to
the Rainbow Pool and click on the
'ALL COLOURS' link.
If I paint my Neopet, can I paint it again?
You can paint your Neopet as many times as you wish, you just need to get your hands on the
elusive paintbrush or morphing potion. Each paintbrush can only be used once, so to paint your
Neopet again, you need to find another paintbrush.
