but I'm sure we can find room for one more."

...Just as she was on her way to the market, Peopatra thought she noticed something strange along the side of the river. Upon taking a closer look, she saw that it was an abandoned Wadjet, who appeared hurt and afraid. "Hey there, what's the matter?" the young Peophin said as she cautiously leaned over to pet the trembling creature. "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." Though it was scared at first, within moments Peopatra had gained the trust of the sickly Wadjet. "You don't look so good... maybe you'd better come home with me, at least 'til you're better."

Taking the poor thing in her arms, Peopatra carried her new friend home, where she gave the ailing Wadjet a warm bed and a large bowl of tchea broth. "You watch, I'll have you good as new in no time." And sure enough, within a matter of days Peopatra's Wadjet, whom she'd named Kerble, was well enough to go outside and play.

One afternoon, when Peopatra was taking Kerble for a walk, they came upon a Khonsu who was digging through for food in the rubbish. "Oh no, you can't eat that stuff," Peopatra said as she approached the starving stray, "it'll make you sick! Come along, I'll find you some REAL food." So now Peopatra had two pets, which she found to be quite a handful. But this was only the beginning; by the end of the month, Peopatra's home had become The Lost Desert's equivilent of an animal shelter. Despite all her hardships, though, she refused to turn them away. "I can't stand the thought of my beloved Petpets starving in the streets."

Then, one day as she was playing outside with her pets, Peopatra saw a young Kacheek putting a flyer on a palm tree. Taking a closer look, she saw that the flyer read:

Missing:
My beloved Isfet
Answers to the name KoKo
Reward: 200 NPs
and a dozen Sutek muffins

Seeing the photo on the flyer, Peopatra noticed that the Isfet looked familiar. "Hey!" she yelled to the Kacheek, who by now was nearly half a block away, "I think I can help!" The Kacheek turned and hurriedly ran back. As it turned out, Peopatra had found KoKo the Isfet earlier that week.

"KoKo, it's you!" the Kacheek said as they were reunited. She was relieved to know that her Isfet had been in good hands. "Here," the Kacheek said as she reached into her knapsack, "let me give you your reward. Thanks again!"

"Actually," Peopatra said, "if you really want to pay me back, I'd rather that you gave one of my Petpets a home. As much as I love them, I really can't afford to care for them all. Seeing how much you care about KoKo, I know you'd make one of them very happy. In fact, during his stay, KoKo seems to have made friends with this one." As she spoke, Peopatra reached over and picked up Kerble the Wadjet. "His name is Kerble. Ever since Koko showed up, they've been practically inseperable."

As soon as she handed Kerble to the Kacheek, Peopatra could see it in her eyes; she knew she'd say yes. "Why, he's adorable," the Kacheek said, "I'd be delighted to have him...."

So that's how Peopatra got her start caring for Petpets. After a few years of working from home, Peopatra finally raised the funds to open the Petpet Stall, which is THE place to go if your search for a Petpet has led you to The Lost Desert. With a wide variety of Khamettes, Gebs and Selkets, you'll be sure to find a friend there.
