The Plushie Tyn00bs Guide

by jazz_invincible

Please Note:- This guide is *not* meant to be in-depth, it is not for you to get in the Top 50 of the scoreboards. It is a guide for beginners who want a cool trophy for their user lookup, and/or a cool avatar for the NeoBoards.

PLUSHIE FACTORY - I've seen various Plushie Tycoon help sites, which I used to learn how to play the game myself in order to get an extra trophy, and another avatar. Unfortunately, they were flawed, they were not designed for people who had never played before, they all required a small amount of experimentation, and told you to play around and see what would happen... I did this, and after 3 months, I was successful. I hope this guide will mean you can be successful on your first attempt.

First Things First:

If you're not on Neopets for at least 1-2 hours a day, don't even bother trying for this... you will almost certainly go bankrupt or just forget to check on your game. This was a problem for me when I first started playing, I kept forgetting to check back... and as a result, would lose my game. Top Hint: Make the Plushie Tycoon main page your home page for the month. Trust me, it helps.

You will need:-

An Internet Connection

An unhealthy obsession with Neopets or the PT avatar/trophy

One Neopets Account

One alarm clock/watch/timer

A couple of hours of your spare time a day

A brain, seriously... fools need not apply ;)

Go here:- http://www.neopets.com/games/tycoon/index.phtml

Congratulations, you followed the first step perfectly, and can now continue. As I stated earlier, I recommend making it your home page, the constant reminder that the game is running will help you remember to keep playing ;)

You will see the following:

Welcome to Plushie Tycoon.

Click below to start your store.

A button is below this with the text, "Create Store". Click it to start your game.

Don't worry about reading the Help Pages it links you to, that's what this guide is for. If it says you have 0 NP on hand, refresh the screen and it will show the correct amount. In blue font, you will notice that it tells you to stock up on a particular material, ignore this as it is very rarely helpful and may cause you to buy overpriced products.

Okay, now you need to set the time zone. Do not automatically think it best to set it to your own, when the game has the time zone set, plushies will only be created in your factory between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the selected Time Zone. Prices for various materials will fluctuate throughout the day regardless of time zone, but mostly seem to change between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Neopian Standard Time (NST). You will have to work out what time of the day you spend most of your time on Neopets, and select accordingly. If you don't go on Neo at all in the morning, choose a time zone a few hours behind :)

Buy Materials:

Okay, so far so good. Now you will need to buy some materials. You can't make plushies with air and wishful thinking, you know? ;)

Click Purchase Raw Goods

Then click on the link: Accessories

You will see 3 different types of materials. Rare Gems, Molded Plastic and Used Junk. Obviously, rare gems cost more than the other two, but will sell for more if your plushies include them.

Check the price.

Are they less than 1600 NP? If not, check back in an hour; and every hour or so as the price will keep changing. If you get impatient, you can buy at less than 1800 NP, but this will mean less upgrades later on for your shop. :)

Are they 1600 NP (or 1800 NP) or less? Yes? Good. Now, click on the Rare Gems and purchase a quantity of 6 with species Uni. (You will be making Uni plushies)

Now click Cloth and buy 12 Red Cloth.

Now click Stuffing and buy 6 Neocotton

Now click Packing and buy 6 Velvet Bags

Don't worry about the prices of those, when the Rare Gems are cheap, the others generally are too, but as a guideline a good price for each would be:

Red Cloth: Less than 400 NP

Neocotton: Less than 250 NP

Velvet Bags: Less than 950 NP

Step one completed! Congratulations! :)

Start Making Plushies:

Click Your Factory and pay the rent for it. I recommend doing this at the 9-10 a.m. time of your time zone, so you have enough time to ensure all plushies sell.

Click Start New Job and select Uni from the dropdown list. Select all of the materials by clicking each radio button (The circles). Click the Submit Job button. It will show some text telling you your selection, and another dropdown list indicating how many plushies you want to make.

You should have enough materials to make 600 plushies, but you do not want to make this many in one batch. It is quicker to make smaller batches, so choose 200, and start the job by clicking the button.

What to do with the other 400 plushies, I hear you ask? Well... repeat the previous step, Start New Job, select Uni and then the various materials. Make another 200 and start the job. Do this one more time to use up all your material. You may get a message asking you to upgrade your warehouse. Accept, and pay the extra fee for the new rent. Don't worry about the increasing costs, you can now make up to 4 batches at a time. Result!

Now, those plushies need someone to put them together, unfortunately you can't rely on mysterious random events to do it for you. Sorry! :P

Click Personnel and then Hire Workers.

You will get a list of various workers that looks like this:

Dropouts | Graduates | Trainees | Journeymen

Managers

Do not bother hiring Dropouts, or Journeymen. Ignore them completely. Click on Graduates and hire about 400. Then click on Trainees and hire another 400. All those workers need some managers to make sure they work, and don't take a permanent lunch break, so make sure you hire 80 managers. That's 1 manager for every 10 workers.

N.B. - Make sure you don't do this towards the end of the hour, workers' wages are taken from your NP fund 1 minute past the hour (and every hour that your factory is open) and you don't want that to happen in the middle of hiring, since you will waste a LOT of NP.

Now, wait... set your alarm or timer to go off at exactly one minute past the next hour. This is when various plushies are made, and wages paid.

Click Existing Jobs and it will tell you how many of each batch still remaining were made. Hopefully, they will have all been made, and you can fire all your workers -- all 800! AND the managers. Don't worry, they don't mind. You will always be left with 1 manager you can't fire. He looks after the factory, and his wages will be deducted for 8 hours each day.

If not all the plushies were made, check how many are left to be made, and fire accordingly. You will have to estimate the number you keep on, but make sure there is always 1 manager to 10 workers. Remember to again check on their progress at one minute past the hour.

N.B. This is where many people will go bankrupt -- they forget to fire workers. Once plushies are made, ALWAYS fire workers to save that precious NP.

Plushies made successfully? Congratulations, that's the hard part. Now, next step.

Shipping and Selling Plushies:

Click Your Warehouse and pay the rent. You will see your 3 batches here, waiting to be shipped. There's not much you can do here for now since the plushies are being loaded ready for shipping. Keep checking back every few hours, or wait until the next day -- they won't be going anywhere. :)

Once they're ready to be shipped, they will have a checkbox next to them. Check all 3 boxes and get them shipped to your store. This will cost you around 1500 NP in total, but that's okay.

Now you are to click Your Store and yes, more rent to pay. Gotta love the taxmen and such, right?

Click Sales and you will see you have the 3 batches with none sold. Your store opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to sell plushies, same as your factory. Again, the amount sold will show at 1 minute past each hour. But you won't sell many with an empty shell for a shop, the place is so drab, and without advertising, nobody is going to know you have plushies to sell!!

Check your current NP now. It will vary depending on how long it took you to make the plushies, and how much you spent on materials.

Now, click Upgrades and Advertisements to start making your shop better. Try to max out on the cheapest Upgrades and Advertisements. Lots of cheaper upgrades and advertisements are better than one or two expensive ones. Balance between upgrading and advertising but DO NOT SPEND TOO MUCH. You will need to leave yourself between 3000 and 3500 NP in order to keep paying your single manager in your factory. You don't want to get this far only to go bankrupt. When you have gotten your NP to this value, stop. Now you just wait. You can't do anything until your plushies sell. This can take anything from 2-5 days. Keep checking back daily, and when a batch fully sells, you will get the NP added to your current balance.

When all plushies sell, you should have some 60,000+ NP This is enough for a trophy and avatar at the end of the month, but remember that you have to pay rent each week, and pay your manager -- so chances are, this isn't enough. But, now you know what to do AND you have more NP to do it. Go back to buying materials. Make another batch of 600, make 700 or even 800 if you feel you can get the materials cheap. Again, hire employees (hire more if you make larger batches) and don't forget to fire them.

KEEP AN EYE ON WHEN YOUR RENT IS DUE!! If your rent is due soon, remember to save that amount so you don't go bankrupt, and don't forget to keep spare NP to keep paying the manager. Not to mention any shipping fees.

As a result, it's probably best just to go for another 600 batch and follow the guide exactly again. Upgrade your shop some more, and pay for more advertisements. Your plushies will sell MUCH quicker and you will soon have around 80,000NP or more if you continue. Now, just make sure you pay the rent each week so you don't go bankrupt and at the end of the month, you will get a Neomail stating your score. Don't forget to check out that shiny new trophy and avatar too. You will also receive 25k, 50k, or even 100k depending on how much you made.

Don't worry if you mess up your game. You can always restart, I got my trophy and avatar by playing the game on the 21st of the current month. That gave me only 10 days to make a profit. If I managed it, so can you! :)

Good Luck! Written by jazz_invincible
