Neoquest 2: The Final Chapter

by kongsingcheung

NEOQUEST - Ladies and gentlemen of Neoquest, this is it. The long-awaited, edited countless times for Neopian Times approval, article has arrived. This is the last leg of your journey across grass, mountains, deserts and swamps. You've defeated Ramtor, crushed Scuzzy, annihilated Anubits and overwhelmed the mighty Esophagor. Now, in Faerieland, you must defeat the mastermind behind everything: King Terask. Note: It is recommended that you are Level 48 to begin this chapter. If not, levelbust until so for maximum result. Now, without further ado, let this guide offer everything it can do to lead into battle... and to victory.

Your adventure continues along the cloud paths of Faerieland. Head down to the watchtower for some much-needed equipment and items. Your characters will don their shiny armour, pack their potions, and head further south. Along the way, the enemies you fight will have skills at the maximum level, so remember to heal wounds. Sooner or later, the walking shall introduce you to the first boss, the Fallen Angel.

Sub-boss: Fallen Angel

Difficulty: Medium

Life: 1200

Notable Abilities: May heal frequently.

Tactics: Bosses seem to prey upon Mipsy and Velm, your magic-users. Keep them alive, and that will keep you alive.

Go on further, and eventually find yourself in the underclouds. Luckily for you, this is a linear dungeon, so all paths lead to the same place. Train until you are level 51 and head east to Cumulonimbus.

This is the most confusing map in the entire game, thanks to the grey clouds that block your path, so pay attention. From the faerie near the entrance, go through the rooms, eventually taking you along the outside of the buildings. Round the corner and head east, counting the buildings you pass. After you have passed 3 (including the one at the corner), head in a Southwest direction from there until you cannot go any further. Go east, around the building to go south, and continue heading east all the way to the other side of Cumulonimbus. Go north to a house/building with lots of chairs and tables and go east from the top to meet....

Boss: Devilpuss

Difficulty: Medium

Life: 1500

Notable abilities: None worth noting

Tactics: Relatively easy boss, just watch out for Velm's life count.

Reward: Devilpuss Avatar, NP, gold, exp., weapons/armour.

Continue along the underclouds, until at last you reach a healing point. Refresh, and continue up the stairs to Faerieland. All the faeries are fighting, and it's up to you to end this. First, you must obtain the key to Faerie Palace by finding the Faerie Thief who stole it. Go inside the eastern building and go upstairs to find her. Congratulations! You have met the most annoying boss of Neoquest 2!

Sub-Boss: Faerie Thief (1st time)

Difficulty: Easy

Life: 1200

Notable Abilities: Astral Maelstorm (64 damage)

Tactics: Counter her Group damage with Group healing. After a while, the Faerie will run away.

Return to Lusina, the Light Faerie, who tells you that the Faerie Thief has run to the west. Go west until you see an entrance, and locate the stairway, which will lead to a small underground cellar to her. Fight her, and once again, the thief will just retreat after a while. Leave the building, and head north to the palace, where an angry Faerie Thief is waiting. Crush her for the final time, and enter the palace where the troubles REALLY begin.

Faerie Palace:

Floor 1: The map is more lengthy than challenging, but follow the npc's directions for the best answer. You'll walk along the right side of the floor, then Southwest through the middle and up the left side to the stairways.

Floor 2: The enemies here are especially powerful, and now, it is also certain that they almost always come in groups of fours. The faerie right up ahead will give you more info on the happenings. Fyora is held prisoner, and Terask holds the key to her freedom, but in order to fight him, you first have to defeat the Pant Devils in the northern towers. Go to the eastern tower first (saves a little walking time), and glaze upon the giant Pant Devil.

Boss: Pant Devil

Difficulty: Medium

Life: 2000

Notable abilities: He's pretty fast, but also pretty ugly.

Tactics: Wearing the blue fiends down shouldn't be problem, but make sure

you don't let them get too fast for their own good.

Reward: Weapons/Armour*, 1/2 a key, NP, gold, and experience.

Note*: The items you get here are the best of the best. Not only do they have high stats, but also boost your abilities and skills substantially. Sword of Apocalypse, Bow of Destiny, by the way, are also weapons given for beating the game in Insane mode.

Fight the other Pant Devil to gain the other part of the key, and return to Kroliya, who will reforge the key for you. Now, go to the southeastern corner, and make your way upwards. Only one of the 4 staircases will take you further; the rest are just dead ends. Are you at least Level 55? Continue onwards, and find yourself facing down on the evil of Neoquest 2.

Boss: King Terask

Difficulty: Medium-hard

Life: 2500

Notable Abilities: All abilities, plus the 2.5 k life count.

Tactics: Slowing him with potions, and then pelting him with every thing in your arsenal. Sooner or later, the big beast will fall.

Reward: NP, gold, experience, the golden key.

Is it over? No, you still need to rescue the great Fyora, and the golden key will open up the southwestern tower for you. Levelbust to Level 56-58. Talk to the faeries. Buy 15 Corrode potions and Slowing potions, remembering to heal also. Now make your way onward. As you walk towards Fyora on the top floor....

Boss: King Terask

Difficulty: InSaNe!

Life: 5000

Notable Abilities: Well, he's got 5000 life, can do over 100 damage a hit, he's fast even without haste, the 5000 life, Full skills in all abilities, 5000 life, enjoys pelting Mipsy and Velm, as well as mesmerizing your entire party, and...did I mention the 5000 life?

Tactics: Rohane will prove his worth now, as he will be the most important member of the fight. Immediately use haste potions on you, and slowing potions on Terask. 80% means that he will hit you only about 1/2 the times he would normally. For Velm, Protection of Infinity (LVL 15 group protection) will reduce the damage drastically. Then, on Mipsy's next turn, use Wall of Chaos (LVL 15 to further fortify your defenses. Velm should only be used for healing now, so this is the only time "do nothing" is a

valid choice. For Mipsy, either pelt Corrode potions or attempt to Obliterate Terask. Either way, it has a great chance of being resisted. Talinia and Rohane will be attacking normally, and if you can do about 200 every time Terask uses Renew (which heals 150), you WILL defeat him. Also, remember to reuse skills as they WILL RUN OUT! Good luck!

Reward: THE COMPLETION OF NEOQUEST 2!!!!!!! 10000 Neopoints, A Neoquest 2 trophy and the last cutscene. Also, a weapon that is used in the Battledome. I received some armour polish.

Enjoy the last cutscene and just take a minute congratulating yourself. You've beaten Neoquest 2 on normal difficulty! Special thanks to all those who have sent me positive feedback, questions and comments regarding these articles, and a very special thanks to Mr. Insane, of whom we should all praise with undying thanks and compliments! For those who wish to take it to the next level, remember, its a whole new game with enemies with more life and tougher bosses. All the same, I'd like to wish you adieu for the time being, and good luck for the future... You're going to need it.
