Take a look at the trophies on my user lookup. Go on, look!!
Hard to believe just two months ago I didn't have a single trophy, isn't it?
But it's true. Six months of playing and not a trophy to show for it. Why? Because
it's not easy to get these shiny trophy things. So, I decided to try really
hard and get something to show for my time here.
Now, if you're a whiz at games, well this article's really not for you. It's
for people like myself who, well, aren't really very good at anything!! I'm
here to show you if I can win a trophy, then there's hope for us all yet. Here
goes with a blow-by-blow account of how I came by my trophies... and how YOU
could too!!
The "Everyone Can Have One" Trophies
Namely Cheat!,
Sakhmet
Solitaire, Pyramids
and Go! Go!
Go! These aren't limited trophies... anyone who wins enough games can
get one. In the case of Cheat! and Go! Go! Go! you need to get through at least
round three to win a bronze; finish level seven and you get the coveted shiny
gold!! In Pyramid and Sakhmet Solitaire, winning at least games gets you the
bronze. You can try as long as you like; ashamed though I have to admit it I've
played Pyramid over fifty times and have still only won four times, BUT two
of those games were enough to gain the trophy on my user lookup and that's the
important thing. I DO intend to go back and upgrade those dull bronzes to shiny
golds, but for the minute quantity is more important than quality!!
The "Long Slog But Got There In The End" Trophy
NeoQuest,
phew!! That took me ages!! Now I have heard tales of people who completed it
in a day or two, but I'm not one of those!! It took me weeks of making little
bits of progress day by day to finally defeat Jahbal. I wouldn't ever go back
and play again to upgrade this trophy but if you're the sort of person who enjoys
role-playing games then it's ideal for you.
The "Art Attack" Trophy
Can you draw?
Can you write poetry?
An article for The Neopian Times?? I got my Poetry contest trophy when I submitted
a poem about the subject closest to my heart at the time... how hard it was
to win a trophy!! Not only did I get one of the less common trophies for people
to admire I also got a Starry Paint Brush... oh, yeah, and over one hundred
letters about the poem, MOST of them complimentary!! So if you decide to take
this route to Trophy Heaven, be prepared to answer a lot of Neomail :-)
The "Fight Club" Trophy
Poor Punchbag Bob! How many people have attacked that poor defenceless creature
in the quest for a trophy? I'm afraid to admit I have! Again, it takes a long
time but once you've done it you never have to go through it again. Other similar
trophies to this are the ones you get for fighting in Neopian wars. Many people
have trophies for the Tyrannian and Sakhmet Wars. Sadly I missed out on these,
but keep your eyes peeled... Dr. Sloth is not around at the moment but I'm willing
to bet we haven't seen the last of him. If so, sign up, fight a few battles
and look forward to getting your medal!!
The "Lucky" Trophies
I include Mystery
Pic and Lenny
Conundrum in these. Why? Well, firstly you need to be on site when they
actually come out. I think the vast majority are won pretty quickly. Secondly,
you need to know what the picture is!! I've only ever won Mystery Pic once but
know people who have won quite a few times. Obviously they are more observant
about the site than I am!! I also include the Kauvara trophies that I have in
this category. I was lucky enough to complete the game at one point and the
score that I got was enough to catapult me into both the Single Game table and
the Cumulative game Score. Wow! Two trophies for the price of one :-)
The Tournament Trophies
Oddly enough I received a Kacheekers
trophy without ever completing a game!! It seems some people enter the tournaments
and then never check back to their game. If you make a move and they don't (or
if they make the silly mistake I did and concede the game instead of pressing
"I moved" ) then you go to the next round. Get through two games and you have
a trophy--try it for Armada,
Geos or Kacheekers!!
Now, that's as far as I can take you in my Guide to trophies. I'm constantly
on the lookout for trophies I might be able to get myself, ones which don't
take too much skill :) If you know any I might like to try I'd be really happy
for you to Neomail me.
Oh yes, and if you're reading this, then I just added a new trophy to my collection,
didn't I? |
