HAUNTED WOODS - In the year 300 BN Neopia was a different place with different
rules and different standards. In this time there was a great one he who walks
in darkness... void of light. He is the Dark Quiggle, and he is the first of
his kind.
The Dark Quiggle was brought about by the polluted rains that fell on his
egg before he was born. When he was born he was alone in the world with no one
to help guide or teach him. Other creatures stared in awe and fear whenever
they happened to see this mysterious creature. He learned very quickly how to
survive on his own, by gathering fruits and vegetables to eat. As he grew he
realised that the smell that always radiated from the other animals was fear.
The Dark One decided to use this to his advantage.
The journey he takes is a long one that is difficult. This journey is harder
on this particular creature than any other because he is alone. Any other creatures
that see him run scared or screams. He does not know why they are so frightened
of him but he does not care he takes the opportunities set before him and steals
the other pets codestones. The Dark Quiggle sees these beautiful stones as magical
and mystical things, he feels he needs to collect them so they may bring him
great power.
The Dark One has been alone so long that he is very jealous of the other pets.
They all have other pets to play with, and some of them have even found owners
to take care of them. He begins to hate them and what they stand for. So he
continues walking the land in search of others like him, continuously stealing
codestones along the way.
The Dark Quiggle has traveled almost ninety thousand miles and collected over
a million codestones from other creatures. One night as he walks along he comes
upon a sleeping Nimmo. As the Nimmo sleeps the Dark One goes over and begins
to search his bags. In the last bag he finds to his wonder fifty or more codestones.
As he is about to leave he hears a soft sort of chanting coming from behind
him, he slowly turns and sees the Nimmo sitting up and saying what sounds like
a spell of some sort.
The Nimmo looks at the Dark Quiggle and says "I can see your past has been
long and lonely. You have had no one to guide you on the ways good and evil.
Now you may have my codestones but not without a price. You must venture back
the way you came scattering all the codestones into every puddle that you pass
along the way. You are not permitted to rest or look behind you until you reach
the place of your birth. You will have no choice in this matter for I have cast
a spell upon you. Now go."
With that being said the Dark One turns and begins his long journey back the
way he came. For many years the Quiggle walks dropping the codestones he stole
in to all of the puddles along the way. He grows tired and weaker with every
step.
Finally he reaches the place of his birth. He is weak and knows he will die
soon. He reaches into his bag and pulls out the last codestone. He drops it
into a puddle and watches in wonder as a beam of light from the heavens touches
the codestone and it slows opens to reveal a yellow Quiggle. The Dark Quiggle
is so overjoyed at seeing another Quiggle for the first time. The yellow Quiggle
raises his hand and points to something behind The Dark One. With the last of
his strength the Dark One turns around and tears run down his face and he smiles...
for he realises that he hasn't been alone on this journey. Standing before him
are millions of different coloured Quiggles, some that have been following him
since the first codestone touched water. With a light heart and a happy mind
the Great One falls.
There have been several Quiggle texts written about the Dark Quiggle many
of them foretelling his return. There are many who follow his example and still
worship him. They wait for his return. Some of these Quiggles can be found worshiping
in the Scary Cave, and they call themselves the DarkQuigglesGuild. |
