TYRANNIAN JUNGLE - The news of the coming war is out, and fear hangs over Neopia.
According to the World page, the oncoming war is to be in Tyrannia, but how
can that be? Each world is usually introduced alongside a special event, such
as a war or a special contest, and Tyrannia has already had a war. But not many
people know the name of the sinister beast that is the reason for that war.
Resembling the Rock
Beast from the Siege on Sakhmet, the Monoceraptor
supposedly lives in the deep caverns underneath the enormous volcanoes located
in the remote north of Tyrannia. During Year 3, the Monoceraptor let loose his
army of Korbat Scouts, Grarrl Troopers, Skeith Invaders, Chia Bombers, Fire
Grarrls, Tyrannian Buzzes, Grarrl Battlemasters, and of course, the Monoceraptor
himself on Tyrannia. As it was said on the News page, a single heroic Lupe defeated
the monster. We tried to find that Lupe, but no record of him was found anywhere,
so his secret is safe. But me and my pets wanted a closer look.
The first thing that we decided to do was to find as much information about
the Monoceraptor as possible, and that wasn't easy. In the end, we found that
the Monoceraptor was being controlled by an even more powerful being. But what
can be more powerful than the Monoceraptor. Perhaps Dr. Sloth, but he was not
recognised throughout Neopia at that point in time. Our only choice was to go
to the site where the Monoceraptor was last spotted. I sent my Eyrie, TheGoldenSoljaJr,
to the colony of Pteri that lived on the plateau, and one older Pteri said that
he remembered seeing a huge black monster running up to the volcanoes when he
was circling the Giant Omlette. As my Eyrie took off for the journey, I sent
my Chia, Anthem, to the village to ask around. He returned with no information.
So, we returned to our vacation home on the far edge of the village with hardly
any information to vouch for. While watching the Battledome updates on the TV,
I saw that Magnus the Torch has now entered the Battledome. My heart gave a
leap. Without waking up either of my pets, I called the Tyrannian Battledome
Office to reserve a session with Magnus the Torch the following day at noon.
When my pets and I arrived at the dome the next afternoon, we found Magnus
waiting outside for us there. We all went to a restaurant in the village and
I asked him about the Monoceraptor.
Superblitz268(sb): So, you live up in the volcanoes, right? What kind
of things live up there.
Magnus: Well, not much can live up there. There are a few colonies
of Scorchio and Skeith here and there. The Pteri's can't go up that far north,
otherwise they're feathers will burn off. Of course, there are the rumours of
the Monoceraptor...
SB: Have you ever seen the Monoceraptor?
Magnus: Well, no. I was planning on battling him once when his army
was invading. But by the time I had reached the place where he was accepting
challengers, he had already been defeated.
SB: Would you know anyone who has seen it?
Magnus: Actually, I do. I have this friend who lives in one of the
Scorchio colonies that I was talking about before. His name is Glubgar, and
well, he always gets lost in the volcanoes. He said that once when he had gotten
lost in that huge volcano behind all the other smaller ones, that he saw him.
SB: Really? Do go on!
Magnus: Well, he had just gotten hit by a big rock in the head, and
he started to fall and, and...
SB: Yes?
Magnus: Well, look! I've got a battle scheduled for 1:30! I gotta run,
See Ya, Bye!
And Magnus the Torch ran out of the restaurant like the Snowager was chasing
him. So Magnus wasn't the most reliable source, but he did give us one piece
of information. It looked like the only way we would be able to get to Glubgar
was to get go into the volcanoes.
So we set off one day to the North and we stopped in a village right on the
top of the plateau for lunch. We asked the people in town if the knew anyone
with the name Glubgar, and a Grarrl who we asked said that he lived in a hut
way up into the volcanoes.
We walked for a couple of hours, until we said a small little hut right at
the base of the volcano farthest out. We continued to walk, but it seemed like
we were getting nowhere. Then I saw TheGoldenSoljaJr flap his wings, and I had
a great idea. We could fly on him!
First I got on, then Anthem, and we were off! It took barely a half an hour
to get to the hut, so we landed in what looked like a nice soft spot by the
left side of the house. After we got off, I went up to the door and knocked.
A short little red Scorchio appeared at the doorway and said "How may I help
you?". I told him that we were conducting a search to find the current whereabouts
of the Monoceraptor, and that we heard that he had seen it. The following text
is the conversation that followed.
SB: So, where did you see the Monoceraptor?
Glubgar: I had been flying around in the big volcano, and a rock hit
my head. I must've been deeper in than I thought, because I landed on something
big and black. It almost looked like a little hill with spikes jutting out of
the sides. When I regained consciousness, a big rock fell from the top of the
tunnel and landed on the black mass that I was standing on. Then the whole thing
started to shake and tremble, and I started to fly away. When I looked back,
a saw the big mass, but it was standing up. Then I realised, it's the Monoceraptor!
Then he spotted me, and I started to fly faster. He breathed out a huge flame,
and just before I was burned I burst through the wall of the tunnel and escaped
from the volcano.
SB: And that's all of the story?
Glubgar: Yeah, I never went in that volcano again. I suppose I should've
told someone before now, they could've caught him.
SB: Thanks for your time!
Now we knew where the Monoceraptor was hiding. We stayed at Glubgar's that
night, and set off early in the morning. We found the volcano that Glubgar had
told us the monster was in, and we entered a small tunnel right at the base.
We walked at least a mile into the volcano, and things were getting hot. The
only light now was from the molten rock running in streams alongside the walls
in the tunnel.
All of the sudden, I hear an ear-splitting ROAR and me and Anthem jumped on
TheGoldenSoljaJr and we took off. I looked back and could see something huge
moving in the darkness. Then, a little flame lit up the passageway, and we saw
the Monoceraptor curling up to sleep in a crevasse far down the tunnel.
So we finally found him. But the big question is: What role is he going to
play in the upcoming war? Maybe he went back to a peaceful life, dozing in the
hot molten rock. Maybe not. What will come will come--we just need to be ready
when it does. |
