Hello and welcome to this week's edition of The Neopian News Brief, your weekly source for all the latest happenings from the world of Neopia.
Our lead story this week is the arrival of a new intergalactic shoot-'em up called Evil Fuzzles From Beyond The Stars. In this game, you are Zygorax, a lowly maintenance worker who finally gets an opportunity to make a name for himself by climbing aboard his X-Scrub 4000 Walker Bot. A fleet of mutated Fuzzles has laid seige to the space station; you must stop them before it's too late! Be sure to add a Radar and upgrade your MegaGun during the early rounds, or else you'll pay dearly once the action picks up...
Tuesday marked the arrival of Shoyru Day, which produced a whole slew of Shoyru items. Shoyru Battledomers were delighted by the introduction of four new weapons-- Shoyru Grappling Hooks, Battle Helmets, Shields, and Sabres, as well as three new Battledome moves-- the Shoyru Kick, Air Block and Fire Stare. Shoyru 'domers also benefitted from free training at the Swashbuckling Academy, courtesy of Cap'n Threelegs.
As for Krawk owners, take heart... you'll have your day on Tuesday the 16th!
Speaking of Shoyrus, one Shoyru who's gotten a lot of attention lately is Shuggo, the Tyrannian star of Neopia's newest game, Omelette Defender. With invaders dead set on nicking his omelette, it's time for Shuggo to break out the heavy artillery. Blast those greedy Grarrls, starving Skeiths, and eager Elephantes before they devour your omelette supply. But look out for those rampaging Tonu! Getting in their way could be hazardous to your health...
This past week also saw the debut of more Back to School items. Along with the release of two Sparkly Paint varieties (green and blue), Monday also marked the arrival of the supercool Mini Chalk Board. Don't you just love the horrific shreiking sound that scraping your nails across a chalkboard makes? Heh, me neither.
On Wednesday, three more Back to School items hit the shelves--the Chia Pencil Sharpener, Exercise Book and Bendy Desk Light. But wait, if you look closer, you'll see that the Bendy Desk Light doesn't have a plug. Hmm, you might wonder, how does the desk light work without a plug? Behold the magic of Faerie Dust...
There was one last shipment of new stock for the Back to School store this week. Making their debut on Thursday were the Stencil Set, Pocket Microscope, and Neopian Globe, which even comes with a little Virtupets Space Station satellite. How cool...
And now, it's time to take a look at today's financial headlines. After last week's harrowing forty-two point collapse, The Neodaq rebounded by posting a modest gain of eleven points. Leading the way is BOOM! Boom Boxes, which has been absolutely on fire recently. BOOM climbed a staggering twenty NPs a share, besting their sixteen and nineteen point jumps during the previous two weeks. With shares now worth 74 NPs, some analysts think that it might be time to sell. After all, what goes up must come down, right?
However, there were a number of companies who ended up faring much worse. Among those taking their lumps was Super Splime, whose value fell a whopping twenty two points this week. After climbing to 59 NPs a share two weeks ago, it seemed as though Super Splime could do no wrong; however, last week's twenty four point collapse, combined with this week's twenty two point decline, left Super Splime at a woeful thirteen points a share.
Super Splime was one of the five companies that fell below the dreaded 15 NP line this week. Others included Faerie Clothing Ltd., Kau Kau Farm, Nakron and The Auction Genie. On the other hand, six companies managed to make the climb back over 15 NPs this week. Leading the way was EEEEEURGH!!! Ltd., who made a nine point leap, all the way up to seventeen NPs. The other five companies who made it out of limbo were Mynci Banana Imports, Peophin Water Parks, Shop Wizard N-Commerce, Dice-A-Roo Industries PLC., and The Shoyru Company. This means that there are now twenty four Neodaq companies currently valued at less than 15 NPs a share.
