Some Tips On How To Have A "Cool" Shop

by scooby_doo13

Have you ever wanted to know how other people change their fonts, change the font color, etc. on their NeoPets shops? Well, what they are putting on their shops is a thing called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). I'll tell you some HTML later. Right now I'll tell you about what Neopians like to buy most (of course, you probably already know what it is), pricing, contests, regaining points if you bought a expensive item, and finally some HTML. Well, I've got a lot to tell you, so I'd better get started.

So what DO Neopians like to buy most?

Food. Cheap food. Or at least I like to buy cheap food. I've never heard of anyone that likes buying expensive food. How do I get cheap food? What prices are considered "cheap"? Well, you can probably get the cheapest food in the shops that are listed when you click on the shops button on the left of every page (like The Food Shop and The Chocolate Factory) that are re-stocked 7 times an hour. However, you must have good luck to get anything because everyone seems to buy everything before you can. I usually get my food from the Shop Wizard. What prices are considered cheap, you say? Under 20 NP. It depends on how rich or poor you are.

All right. I bought my things that I wanted, now how do I price them?

It should be priced so that poorer Neopians can buy it. But you need to make at least 2 NP profit on it. I want to have a contest. What should I know? It should be a contest that anyone could win. Here are some ideal contests: Whoever buys the mystery item, a random picked winner. (the random picked winner should be fair.)

I bought a expensive item or I bought a lot of stuff. What should I do to get my points back?

Play games.* But, not all games give you NPs. I usually play Dice-a-roo, Kacheek Seek, and Blackjack. Of course, Lenny Trivia is a great trivia game, you get 10 NeoPoints per correct answer. And if you have a Nerkmid, that's great! You go to the vending machine and press some buttons etc. and you can get stuff like Faeries and food and lots more! Even NPs! But, for those of you who haven't a Nerkmid, anyone can find NPs by just going around the site! Sometimes other stuff, too! NeoPets is always adding more ways to earn NPs so keep lookout. Also, the Neopian Stock market will probably pay you NPs if your stock goes up.

(*Editor's note: You can win up to 1000NP playing the Cartoon Network game.)

Okay. Can you tell me some HTML now?

Sure. We'll start with the easy stuff. (just take out all the *'s to use them)

Bolding - How do you bold? Just take out the *'s: <*b*> and to end the bold just take out the *'s:
Italicizing - To start: (take out the *'s) <*i*> and to end:
Underlining - To start: <*u*> to end:
Coloring - To start: (replace "color" with the color you want to use) <*font color=color*> and to end:
Linking - (replace the yourlinkhere with the address of the site you want to link and also the textyouwantlinkedhere, replace it with text you want it to link) <*a href="yourlinkhere">textyouwantlinkedhere
Making fonts bigger and smaller - Just replace the "fontsizehere" with the size of font you want: <*font size=fontsizehere*>
Scrolling - To start: <*MARQUEE*> and to end:
Dividing line - <*HR*>
Paragraph - <*p*> and to end: </*p*>
Changing the kind of font - Just replace fontnamehere with the name of the font you want to use: <*font face="fontnamehere"*>

I don't know everything about HTML, but what I listed above are probably the most common used tags. Customers usually don't like a pile of HTML, so I suggest just not using too much but enough to say you have HTML on your shop. Well, I hope I answered any of your questions and maybe even helped you out. If you have any questions NeoMessage me at scooby_doo13 and I'll try to answer them. Goodbye and have a nice day!
