ElekBolt Wrongly Judges

by Nigel Adams

Elekbolt dropped his satchel to the sand and looked around. The view from the west coast beach on the mystery island was fabulous; the setting golden sun sent streaks of light across the still waters. The sky looked like it was almost on fire-the vibrant reds and purples of sunset.

He opened his satchel and withdrew a carrot and a copy of All About Fire Fairies, his latest read. He had to get smart if he wanted to impress all the female Cybunnies, but it was such a big heavy book. Chomping down on his favorite snack, he turned to his bookmark and continued his reading, while his slightly damp fur dried in the cool dusk breeze. He liked his new striped hairstyle but the permanent paints used at the pool seemed to take forever to dry. Unaware of the predicament he was soon about to be involved in, Elekbolt licked his paw and turned the page.

"Help!" Came a scream from the water. Elekbolt hopped to his feet and sprinted down the sandy dune towards the sea. Sitting there was a beautiful Cybunny with hair the color of cool mountain streams, and eyes the color of the deepest tropical sea. She was sobbing gently and looked up at Elekbolt as he approached.

"Will you help me kind sir?" Asked the gorgeous Cybunny.
Entranced by her beauty, Elekbolt stood for a few seconds before being able to reply. "Y-yes of course, what is a matter?"
"An evil, ugly monster has stolen my lucky rocks. They are very precious to me...great sentimental value. Will you help me get them back...?"

Elekbolt puffed up his chest and tried to look as powerful and strong as he could. "I'll get your rocks back for you, young lady, just you wait and see. What do they look like?"

"They are very smooth, shiny, and egg shaped. Sort of a bluish color."

"I'll go get them. Just tell me where this monster lives" Elekbolt said, still quite taken by this Cybunny's loveliness.

"Over there in that cave, please, hurry go quickly..." she said before bursting into tears.

Elekbolt couldn't bear to see the lady cry, so he sprinted off to get his satchel. After a quick 5-minute run, he arrived at the mouth of the cave and peered in. He paused for a second, slightly afraid of wandering into the darkness. The inside was huge and there appeared to be no one around. Stalactites hung down from the ceiling, small puddles of water and foot holes made every step dangerous. The cave seemed to be empty so he quickly looked around and saw three stones that matched the ladies description, lying on a small pile of sand.

Elekbolt quickly began to gather them up into his satchel when a roar came from the cave mouth. Standing there between him and the outside was a gigantic ugly creature. It was covered in bright green scales, from ugly head to long serpent-like tail. Its mouth was lined with viscous teeth deadlier than any Lupe's, and its hand was set with wicked claws sharper than any Scorchio's.

Elekbolt thought quickly. Just as the creature lashed out with one of its talons, he leapt through its legs and ran out the cave mouth, leaving the creature roaring in anger. He ran as fast as his little cybunny legs could carry him until he got back to the girl.

"Do you have them?" She asked quickly, looking up excitedly.
"Yes," he said proudly. "Here they a..." He started to say as he was interrupted by a loud cracking sound from inside his satchel. He opened it up and looked inside. Two of the stones looked normal but the third had slightly cracked. A small lizard-like head was popping out.

"Oh, no," thought Elekbolt, "these aren't stones at all, they are that creatures eggs and I have stolen them."
"Hurry give them to me," the woman screeched. "I am getting hungry...I mean, I want my precious stones back." Elekbolt glared at her.

"These aren't yours at all. Are they? These are that poor creature's eggs and you have made me steal them so you can eat them. Well you can't have them," he said defiantly.

With that the female cybunny seemed to get very angry, her eyes glowed violently red before unleashing a devastating blast of energy towards Elekbolt. Luckily Elekbolt anticipated the attack and hopped to the side. He turned and sped up the sand dune.

"How am I going to fight her, I'm on vacation and don't have any weapons with me." Elekbolt thought to himself.

Just then he saw the book he had been reading earlier on the sand and got an idea. He bent down, grabbing the book in his teeth, and twirled around. He opened his mouth as he turned to face his pursuer. The book flew through the air and hit her on the head, knocking her off her feet. She seemed dazed. And just as Elekbolt was about to run down the hill, she smiled evilly.

"I'll get you next time." She screeched before vanishing in a puff of smoke.

Elekbolt shook his head and ran back towards the cave. He left his satchel by the entrance with a note attached saying "Sorry." He left before the angry mother came out to investigate, but he watched from a safe distance to make sure the eggs and newborn got back to their home safely. Elekbolt thought about his adventures and realized that he had just learned a lot.

"You shouldn't judge people on their appearance." He thought, "just because they are ugly doesn't mean they are evil, and just because they are pretty does not mean they are nice. Oh, and maybe big storybooks aren't really that bad either."
