The Pursuit
It was a two weeks since they had met Walzak the Wocky. Their wounds
were fully healed, except RedFlame's broken leg, only leaving scars on
their fur. The five set out to find the LupeGelert Stone. RedFlame limped
with them, sometimes uttering a small healing spell to make his leg heal
faster.
"Hey! I know! I have a complete healing spell hidden in my burrow!" Walzak
trotted off.
A few minutes later, he was back with a knapsack full of food, medicine
and weapons, plus a scroll. Walzak unrolled the scroll and read out the
spell. A whirlwind of leaves gathered around RedFlame and as quickly as
it had come, it disappeared.
"It was an Earth and Air Faerie combination healing spell, created here
in Tropica. Does it feel better?" RedFlame took off his bandages and ran
ahead.
"Great! Let's pick up the pace, shall we?"
Soon, the five were running through Tropica, only looking like a cloud
of dust to a stranger. They stopped to check RedFlame's map book. RedFlame
turned to the page which was called Tropica. They had to go a long way
northwest before reaching the Assassin's hideout. Walzak pointed a paw
at a pyramid shape on the map.
"I have spied on him many times before. His hideout is near the Hidden
Temple. By now, he is in the Dark Cavern. We will take a day and a half
to get there, but he will be there for quite a while too. It is a maze
of rock and jewels, but it is full of traps."
Walzak moved his paw to a semicircle on the map labeled Dark Cavern.
As they walked they ate some Wocky pastries and bread. Soon, night fell
and Moonlight took out her fire in a jar. Akkor kept her blaster laser
power high enough to give out light but low enough so it wouldn't burn
the trees.
They walked quietly, careful not to wake any of the other creatures living
there. RedFlame was worrying. How were they going to get through the cave?
Why does it take so long to get there? Will the Assassin be gone before
they even get to the cave? Is there an ability that can make us fly?
"Walzak, do you know how to contact the Uber-Air Faerie?" he asked the
Wocky.
"I have a feeling that we can overcome the Assassin," Akkor smiled.
She read RedFlame's mind slowly with her powers. Very good. He has a
plan. But can we actually pull it off? She thought to herself. But soon,
I know I will have to leave this world. They must do it on their own from
there. Walzak disappeared into the bushes again. He reappeared with the
Air Faerie.
"So, you are on a Quest. No, not a Faerie Quest but a real life or death
Quest," the Uber-Air Faerie's angelic voice echoed through the jungle.
"I will bless you with the power of flight but you must give me one of
your Air Faeries in return."
RedFlame handed the Faerie in a jar to the Uber-Air Faerie The Uber-Air
Faerie opened it and let the Faerie out. Then she raised her hands and
a blinding flash of light shot at each of them. RedFlame could see wings
opening from his back. Long black feathers covered his huge wings and
he spread them and took to the air.
Walzak had green leathery wings like a dragon's, to show how he is a
true survivor. Mystic sprouted beautiful blue wings like an eagle's and
she glided through the trees. Moonlight's white feathered wings sparkled
and glittered as she flew. Akkor had furry purple wings which she strapped
blasters onto.
"Let's go!" The five took off and glided into the clouds.
