She wiped the morning dew from her brow with a weary
paw. Her eyes opened to a shining light that blinded her, forcing her
eyes shut again. Slowly, she tried again, this time to succeed. The sun
was at its peak in the sky, lighting the sky with topaz brilliance.
The young Wocky was on her feet now, ready for the day's
exploration. She knew it would not be wise on her part, but she had escaped
danger many a time before. With that thought gone, she headed towards
the sunrise.
He lay there asleep, battered and bloody, on the small
straw cot. He had been like that for days, but his friend refused to believe
he was a goner. He would never give up hope until that heart stopped beating.
The spotted Gelert paced slowly to the blue Wocky, his dearest companion.
They had been close since birth and were nearly inseparable. They had
joined the army, were put in the same platoon, and found themselves in
the recent war that had broken out between the Neopians, all together.
Now, all he could do was hope that Dolphin had the strength to wake up
from his coma.
She had been running for miles, never resting or losing
her breath. Her white fur was now ruffed up and dirtied with soil and
grass stains. She collapsed and started panting heavily in the shadow
of the setting sun. She leaped up and trotted to a large rock. She jumped
on top of it and looked over the edge, amazed at the sight. Below were
thousands of NeoPets, all rushing in different directions. This was obviously
a Neopian army base, but she did not know which side they were for. The
hustle-bustle below made her head spin like a carousel! She hopped off
the rock and sprinted to the campsite ahead.
His eyelids frantically tried to open but immediately
dropped shut. He was too tired to get up, but he knew he had to. He wanted
to rest for a couple more minutes… "Oh my gosh! I think he's finally coming
to, guys!"
He heard a loud shout nearby. Someone shook him violently
as he mumbled some mumbo-jumbo. He then received a big hug from behind
and was lifted high in the air. He turned to find his best friend staring
at him with an ear-to-ear grin upon his face.
"Are you all right, Dolphin?" he asked.
"I'm fine, why?" the Wocky replied.
"Lemme think…. Maybe because you've been in a coma for
six days!" he shouted quite sarcastically.
"I… have?" he said with uncertainty.
"Yeah, don't you remember?" the spotted Gelert replied,
carrying worry in his voice and eyes.
"No, not really, will you tell me what happened Strife?"
the blue Wocky cried.
To be continued...
