The Camping Trip: Part One

by lynx and Elleni, my pet Shoyru

Everything just got on my nerves today. I had stayed in my room for the past couple of days just listening to music. My brother and sisters had left me alone because they knew I didn't want to be bothered since I had just broke up with my boyfriend.

I went to the kitchen to eat breakfast, a bacon omelette, that I was going to warm up in the microwave only to find out that Kourye had already ate it. Kourye has such a big appetite lately. So I looked in the pantry and grabbed some Coco NeoCrunch.

After finishing my breakfast, I went to the study to read a book that Nisiko had given me, Robin Lupe. Which reminded me that I hadn't seen Nisiko in awhile. She and Snow were probably having fun at Mystery Island.

Maeglyn came flying into the study and hid behind the bean bag I was sitting in. A few minutes later, Kourye flew in tripping over his big paws and crashed into me, knocking my book out of my hands.

"Go play somewhere else!" I screamed at them and tried to get back to reading but couldn't get interested again.

This house was suddenly getting small. I had been cooped up too long. I had to get out and get away from my siblings.

After Lynx and my brother and sisters were in bed, I dug through my dresser and found my backpack. I set it on the bed looked around my room for stuff I might need.

I couldn't remember where I had put all my supplies when we moved into this house. I searched through all my drawers in my dresser to see if I had put my rope and matches and other camping stuff in there.

I heard someone knock on my door. "Who is it?" I asked stuffing my backpack under my bed and realised that I had put my supplies there.

Cadalilith walked into the room. "Elleni, can you tell me a story?"

"Not tonight, Lili. I'm busy, go ask Maeglyn." Cadalilith left and I grabbed my backpack out from under the bed. I looked under the bed and found my rope, and some matches but I couldn't find my tent. I looked all the way to the back of behind my bed and still couldn't find it.

I picked up the phone and called Flowal. "Hey, Elleni, what's up?" She was probably wonder why I was calling her at 10:00 at night.

"Nothing much, you wouldn't happen to have a tent, would you? I can't find mine."

"Yeah, I have one, why?"

"Good," I said ignoring the why. "Can I borrow it?"

"Sure, why--" I hung up the phone.

I flew quietly to the kitchen to get food and water. I packed a small lunch box with some water, apples, two sandwiches, and some other fruits.

Back in my room, I finished packing my backpack and set it beside the window. I wrote a note to Lynx and decided to get some sleep and get up bright and early the next day, right before the sun came up.
