Before you, the tiniest speck on the horizon. The slightest anomaly from the blinding, monotonous white that seems to blanket the horizon forever. An eternity of nothingness broken by one single speck that one would find completely inaccessible by any mortal means. But still... the tundra is by no means a habitable place, and a single speck on the horizon gives one more hope and comfort than any other comfort known and in this harsh a climate would seem perfectly approachable. Closer... closer... Heartbeats race as the speck grows and grows. Anticipation rising as to what the speck is and if it will assist. Faster your feet race, your heart beating in time with each footfall to the deep, deep white numbing snow; only to find... Nothing, a mirage of sorts. And such is the cruel tendencies of this place, of my home, the tundra.
