Neopedia : Wheel of Knowledge
Location: Brightvale King Hagan sighed. The Draik standing before his throne had a goofy grin. One of his feet was covered in wet green paint. Hagan could see the trail of footprints stretching from the door to his throne. "Miles," he said, shaking his head. "Miles, what is it this time?" "This time you're going to love it, sire," the Draik promised. "This device that I've invented will help educate and enlighten any would-be scholar in Neopia, for the low price of 400 NP! The cost is purely to cover maintenance, of course. Now, I can't claim credit for the original mechanism -- some faeries up in Faerieland built a wheel first -- but this wheel is going to be even better! It's all about wisdom! It's going to be the best Wheel of Knowledge ever!" "Also the only Wheel of Knowledge ever," muttered a Tonu courtier. The rumbling words carried in the hushed chamber. Miles shot him a grin, undaunted. "It's also the most beautiful, in my humble opinion. The stained glass took most of the budget, but it was well worth it. The Wheel of Knowledge will shine both with the light of knowledge and the light of the sun!"
Hagan only sighed again. Miles hurried to make his point. "And that's why I need your help, Your Majesty. My Wheel won't be complete without your wisdom. Will you consent to share some of your brilliant advice, so that my Wheel becomes the font of wisdom it truly ought to be?" "Wait, what? You want free advice?" The Skeith monarch frowned. "Er, well..." Miles faltered. "Outrageous! The only way I would be willing to put my name on one of your contraptions would be if I received royalties! I am, after all, the king." "...Fair enough," Miles said hesitantly, whipping out a scroll and quill. Poised to write, he inquired, "How much?" The king pondered. "Oh, perhaps... 400 NP per spin."
The Draik's ears drooped in anguish, but he nodded. "Th-thank you, Your Majesty."
As Miles was escorted to the library to begin studying the king's personal writings on advice, King Hagan stroked his beard. A device to educate and enlighten scholars everywhere... and he would make a splendid profit from it. That might be worth a little paint on his carpeting.
