Quests That Reap Big Rewards by karateetee | |
QUEST LOCATIONS OF NEOPIA - Some days in Neopia are just tough. Your pet caught
Sneezles from the Wheel of Excitement, you got a lame booby prize from Tombola,
and the Tax Beast just ran off with a little over a grand in Neopoints. Ho hum,
another boring -- and dungy -- day. But does it have to be? Hmmmm, maybe there's
something you missed when gliding through your daily visits to the Wheels, Shrine,
and Tombola -- but what could it be?
Ah, that batty old hag in the Haunted Woods, or the paranoid Flotsam on Mystery
Island. What good are they? All they do is ask you for expensive items and yell
when you don't bring them back, right? Right? Wrong. Quests are one of the best
ways to revive both your drooped spirit and your suffering bank account.
So, pack a few thousand Neopoints, have the Shop Wizard on alert, and ready
the shelves in your shop for some new sales, 'cause here we go!
Snow Faerie - Our first quest stop of the day is at the lovely Terror
Mountain. Skip along the icy paths of Happy Valley and the Ice Caves up to the
summit of the mountain, where our friend Taelia makes her residence. It's an
igloo of sorts, though not of ice. Step inside and be greeted with a request
for help. Hmmmm, should you help her? Most certainly, for who would leave a
damsel in distress, in the harsh snowy environment of Terror Mountain, no less?
Not to mention the great prizes that await those who are willing to spend a
few or more points for a greater gain.
The Snow Faerie often asks for medicines, candies, and slightly rare magical
items in under a bit over an hour. Here's where you use the Shop Wizard to look
up an estimate of how much the quest will cost you. She asks for 2-4 items per
quest. If it's around 5000 NP or less, it should be done, if not at least heavily
considered. The reward you are given is a sack of money around 2000 NP, an item,
and a snowball. The snowball is usually not worth much, only a few NP if it
is a wet, yellow, evil, or peach one. But the item can be anything from a common
one to something rare and expensive. Many people are given Dark Battle Ducks
or Draik Morphing Potions, while others walk away with only a species-specific
battle helmet. There is a certain gamble to Taelia's quests, but the odds are
good. I recommend you do as many as you can, until the cost of your quest is
too much for you to afford or you deem it too risky to chance.
The Flotsam Chef - This fretful Flotsam can be found on Mystery Island.
He serves the great Mumbo Pango, the hungry ruler of the island. A great wringer
of fins and whiner, this chef will practically beg you for help, and irritate
you while you are there until you get what he needs to prepare Mumbo's meal.
Always asking for foods of varying types, this Flotsam is not quite as generous
to those who help him. I'm sure he does his best under tough circumstances,
but that may be no comfort to those who have lost money from aiding him. He
asks for 2-4 items per quest to be brought within a few hours. Some of the prizes
given by this Flotsam in return for the items he ask are toys, money, stat points,
and other items. Often a random pet will be upgraded one point in a certain
stat (strength, defence, hit points, agility, or level). Another outcome is
the gifting of money. A sack of Neopoints, anywhere from 800 to 1500 is typical.
Overall this quest is very risky and if the cost exceeds 2000 Neopoints, completing
it is ill-advised.
Jhudora the Dark Faerie - Faerieland, a happy place where faeries play
all day and Faerie pets frolic through the clouds -- except on Jhudora's cloud.
Promising "magical artifacts of ultimate power," this Dark Faerie looks like
she means business. Her quests are not to be taken lightly, as she is likely
to smite your home with a bolt of lightning if you do not get her what she asks.
Each quest goes by level. The higher the level you are on, the rarer and more
expensive the item you are asked to get will be. She asks for only one item,
but does not always reward. More downsides are that you can only take one quest
a day, and if you do not complete the quest within the given amount of time
(around 16 minutes) your quest level will go back down to one and you must start
all over again. The rewards you get for many of the initial levels are hardly
worth the effort of putting into your shop. It isn't until the later levels
that you will receive anything of any real worth. I suggest that these quests
be skipped unless you have the money to put down in advance for some of the
items in the later levels, which are often rarity 99 and cost several hundreds
of thousands of Neopoints.
Illusen the Earth Faerie - In a glade in Meridell lives a beautiful
Earth Faerie by the name of Illusen. The glade itself is quite lovely, with
fragrant flowers and tall trees all around. Illusen is the kinder, gentler version
of Jhudora, with prizes much prettier and less menacing.
Illusen's quests are exactly like Jhudora's. The difficulty depends on the
quest level. Prizes are not always given, and are worth very little until the
later levels. Also, after level 50 no prizes are given, as is with Jhudora's
quests as well. This Faerie is nicer than Jhudora, but will still give you the
boot if you don't bring her the item she asked for in time, which is also around
16 minutes. And if you really want to do both Illusen and Jhudora's quests,
you will have to do so on alternating days. You see, these two Faeries don't
like each other at all, and if you have done a quest for one on the day that
you go to the other, she will turn you away until tomorrow. You will have to
decide which you want to do if you don't want to alternate. Then again, with
the prizes being so bad, it's best not to do either at all.
Edna the Witch - This cackling green Zafara resides in the Haunted Woods.
All day long she stirs her cauldron, tossing in ingredients to her latest potion,
whether it be a Glowing Spell of Techo Transforming, or a Bubbling Spell of
Cybunny Frazzling she is cooking up. This old witch may act the part of a helpless
old woman, but never turn your back towards her, or she may hex you just for
fun.
Typically asking for 2-4 items before one or two hours is up, this witch gives
always the same prizes: a small bit of money and a spooky food. Edna often asks
for toys, chocolates, and other assorted foods. She will give about 200 NP and
a spooky food in return, which can be a good thing, or a bad one. Never spend
above 500 NP on her quests because you do not always receive something worth
even that much in return. Some spooky foods are amazingly rare and expensive,
but often all you will get are nearly worthless Pumpkin Cookies or a Mashed
Eye Potato. But still, you may hit the jackpot with an Apple Lantern from the
witch, so it's worth a shot if the price is right.
The Esophagor - Only a few paces from Edna's setup is this gigantic
beast. No one is sure what he is, but all anyone does know is that he is not
to be messed with. But I still think this guy needs to go on a diet.
Talking slow in his ground-shaking voice, he demands spooky foods to whet his
huge appetite. The Esophagor will expect usually 1-3 of these food items in
return for a prize or information. The prizes are basically random. Some are
junk, while others are amazing. If you happen to be on a Brain Tree Quest when
you give the 'Soph his food, he'll tell you where or when the so-and-so died.
You will need to complete two of his quests to get all the info the Brain Tree
wants. I think that if you don't spend over 3000 Neopoints, the Esophagor's
quests are usually well worth it.
The Brain Tree - With a huge brain and a booming voice, this is no ordinary
tree. He thirsts unquenchably for knowledge, and will not settle for stab-in-the-dark
guesses. Where and when did Donna Chia die? You must answer both to get your
prize. And don't try asking someone who's done the same quest you're on because
the answers are random.
To get the information the Tree wants, you must complete two Esophagor
quests. It sometimes stinks because you may complete one 'Soph quest, only to
find that the next one will cost you quite literally an arm and a leg to complete.
If you're not willing to risk having to sell your soul to feed a lump of dirt
so you can teach a tree about death, don't do this quest. The prizes are a small
amount of Neopoints and a weapon or Petpet, such as Brain Tree Roots (which
are amazing Battledome weapons, but dirt cheap) or a Bearog. Probably not worth
your time or money.
Well, that covers it. There are all the quests of Neopia that you partake in
at will. Uber Faerie quests are not included here (nor are the new Fountain
Faerie or Space Faerie quests) because those are given at random. Well, good
luck questing and I hope you're able to come home with some rare items for your
trouble, with which to feed your hungry bank account.
