It's been a week now, and it was the beginning of the craziest day of my life.
Let me tell you how it began...
"I'll fight till the end for the sake of your safety..."
"Who are you?" I asked, almost screaming at him.
Once again, he stepped out into the light. But before he reached for his
hood, a paw reached out and rested on my cheek.
"There's no need to be afraid. I'm watching you," he whispered. I opened
my mouth but he placed his paw over it, "I've been beside you for a while now,
no worries, I will protect you..."
"SHIKO!" Mrs. Okau roared in my ear. I woke with a start, almost knocking over
my pencil bag as my arms flew to my side. Mrs. Okau was tapping her hoof impatiently
on the ground. "This has been the third time in a week you fell asleep in class,
Shiko. THIRD TIME! Shiko, if your not getting enough sleep, I suggest you do,
because if your not... Well, let's say detention will be heading your way."
As Mrs. Okau stalked back up to the front of the class, Kerrigan leaned over
and whispered, "You were having that dream again, huh? I heard you mumbling
things like, "Who are you?" and other weird things. What's up?"
I shrugged. "This guy... he said he'd protect me... And he's been watching
me all the time now. He even said that he's been right beside me for a while
now..." I muttered, staring up at the ceiling. "It's so strange, because I can't
get it out of my head!"
I heard Mrs. Okau call my name once more and I gave Kerrigan a silent apology
and turned back to class.

After school ended, Kerrigan and I met up.
"Hey Kerrigan! Wanna come over to my house later and hang out?"
Kerrigan sighed and shook her head, "Sorry, I have this huge Science project
coming up."
We passed by Kaji who watched me pass by. I shivered slightly as if I could
actually feel his deep eyes pass over me.
"That's my mom, I better get going now," Kerrigan said as she saw a blonde
female wave to her, "I'll see you later!"
I watched Kerrigan wave good-bye as her owner drove away. I sat down and waited
for Tammy to come. Chay was with two of his big Lupe friends, while Cherry was
with her friends applying more make-up to their already perfect faces. I leaned
against the wall and looked around. I could still sense Kaji watching me and
I shuddered once more.
"What's up with that guy?" I muttered.
"What's up with what guy?" a voice asked me, a shadow falling across mine.
"Uh..." I turned around and saw a Grarrl by the name if Janx. "Oh hi... Janx..."
I whimpered.
"Hey Shiko, remember your good friend Janx?"
I whimpered slightly because this was an all time bully. He spent his free
time bullying little pets around, and I am one of his favourites. I guess he's
getting back at me because I've always had someone with me. But Chay was so
far away... And Cherry was completely attached to her make-up now, so this was
a perfect chance for Janx to strike.
I opened my mouth to answer but he took the moment to roughly shove me and
I stumbled backwards. Apparently, my bag thought it was sick of carrying all
my heavy textbooks, so a seam split open and all my books came tumbling out.
Quickly, I scooped up my books in a pile and my paw reached out for a stray
paper, but before I could grab it, Janx stepped on my hand. I winced painfully
and pulled away, rubbing my sore paw.
"Oh? Do you need this?" Janx asked picking up an assignment.
I watched helplessly as he grinned, crumpling it up and throwing it into the
mud. Janx laughed harshly when my bottom lip began to tremble.
"Hey! Janx, is that your name?" a voice called out behind me, "Why don't you
pick on somebody your own size?" I turned around and was shocked to find Kaji
glaring angrily at Janx. Janx's eyes narrowed ever so slightly and shot back,
"Like... you?"
Kaji didn't even flinch when he saw Janx flexing his powerful claws. Instead,
Kaji stepped in front of me and spread his arms out protectively.
"Ooh, looks like Shiko here has a new boyfriend!" Janx smirked.
Janx took a dangerous step forward but before he could reach us, a flash of
gold appeared and Chay stood protectively in front of me. His fur was standing
on end and he was snarling dangerously.
"Stop picking on my little sister, Janx," Chay hissed, "or else or going to
have to deal with me, and some friends." As soon as Chay finished, two more
burly Lupes swept up beside him.
"What's going on here?" Cherry asked galloping quickly towards me, tossing
her long mane. One of her friends trailed closely behind her. "Janx is up to
no good again, huh?" Cherry whispered in my ear. I shivered slightly and she
hugged me before turning to Janx.
Janx eyed Chay but his steel blue eyes turned cold as he turned and walked
away. I sighed my relief as Kaji handed me one of my books. His paw accidentally
brushed against mine and I felt colour creeping up my neck. I glanced up at
him and he asked, "Are you okay?" I nodded, noticing his deep eyes were shimmering
with concern. I think this was the day I fell in love with Kaji.
