The Quest of the Golden Negg: Part Two by angelzbabe13 | |
Maximus paced around his room with a worried expression.
It was the morning after the party. His son was nowhere to be seen. He had searched
every turret in the palace, even the hidden dungeons underground, but his son
was gone. He had to find Celeon, quickly, before Darigan finds out that his
son is off palace grounds. If there was one weakness in Maximus' power, it was
his fear of losing family.
Queen Serena entered room after taking a refreshing
bath. She was dressed majestically, golden silk wrapped on the edges of her
dress. She walked with grace towards Maximus, her king, and stood by him, wrapping
her paw around his.
"Do not worry, my love. Celeon is an adventurous
boy, but he is old enough to take care of himself. He will be back, I am sure
of it," Serena assured, embracing Maximus.
Maximus nodded. Serena always had a way of calming
his worries. He sat down on his bed with Serena by his side, waiting for his
son's return. He was still worried, knowing that his son only wanted to prove
himself worthy, something that he had done when he was seventeen and barely
survived through.

Celeon entered Mystery Island with caution. He searched through the streets,
trying to find out where the Cooking Pot Faerie was. The weather was scorching,
and his coat of jet-black fur made the weather almost unbearable. He saw a shoreline
from where he was standing and decided to retrieve some water. He was dehydrating
by the minute.
However, when Celeon got to the shore he didn't
find water, but instead a ghost. Terrified, Celeon tried to back away slowly
from the ghost and run, but the ghost didn't allow him to. Instead, it trapped
him with its crimson eyes, making him tremble in fear.
"Celeon," the ghost started to say, "I have
heard a lot about you. I am the Ghost Lupe, and you, are the prince of Meridell.
Now, I wonder, why would a king allow his son to wander off halfway across Neopia
without protection?
"Ah, but of course, I knew it from the first
time I set my eyes upon yours that you are not only a prince. You love to rebel.
You remind me of myself when I was your age, which is why I will help you in
your quest. Now, what is it you wish to find?" the Ghost Lupe asked, his red
eyes flickering, indicating generosity instead of terror.
Celeon stood in surprise. He had always thought
of the Ghost Lupe to be a monstrous creature that would kill on sight. He never
actually thought of it as a neopet who loved adventure and rebellious ways,
but nevertheless, he had no more time left to waste, "I am sent by the Faerie
queen to find four of the rare neggs left on Neopia. Can you guide me to a Faerie
that claims one of those neggs?" he asked, trying his best to be polite.
The Ghost Lupe stood motionless, pondering,
"I have heard about those. I know that two of the Uber faeries claim neggs and
the rest of the neggs are claimed by other faeries that are not Uber. Specifically,
I only know that the water and Light Faerie each have a negg. The other two,
I am unsure of," he confessed, his voice echoing across the seashore. Many Neopets
could be seen on the edge of the shore, terrified of him.
Celeon nodded his head in gratitude, "Thank
you, Ghost Lupe I will one day repay your generosity when I get the chance.
For now, I must depart," he said, bidding farewell. He walked into the streets
of Mystery Island and started to head for the port where ships are held, but
something stopped him.
A lava ghoul stood in front of him, blocking
his way. It snarled and growled toward him, aiming fire toward his cloak. Celeon
was not terrified, but irritated by the ghoul. He had only a week to find the
neggs that the queen Faerie wanted and this ghoul was in his way. It was already
late afternoon. If he missed the ship for Faerieland now, he would have to wait
till nightfall.
"Get out of the way!" Celeon sneered toward
the ghoul, aiming several snowballs hidden inside his cloak toward it. In the
last blow, the ghoul disappeared and screeched a terrible sound, indicating
Celeon's victory. He hurried to the ship and paid the ticket. Many Neopets stared
at him with curiosity, wondering why he was on the ship.
By nightfall, he had reached Faerieland. This
cloud of heaven was so extravagant and beautiful that he was unsure whether
it was a dream or reality. He had only visited Faerieland once before, when
he was three, however he hardly had any memory the trip. A mystical castle stood
tall behind white clouds above him; a number of Neopets were busy in the streets,
while others floated along on clouds. The night sky stood dim against the extravagant
colors of the castle and the lands below.
Celeon found the healing spring and walked up
to it with precaution. Everything seemed to be floating, mist surrounded his
paws and hind legs. He looked forward and saw a vague image of the water Faerie,
resting on one of the clouds in front of him. She seemed to be delighted by
the company of many Neopets wanting a share of their daily healing.
When the Neopets were gone, the water Faerie
looked at Celeon. She gazed at him with surprise. He walked up to her. "My,
my," the water Faerie started to say, "Prince Celeon, what are you doing here?"
she asked with curiosity.
"I am sent by the Faerie queen to retrieve the
four rare neggs left on Neopia. I believe that you have one of them," he said
with a matter-of-fact voice, "What will I have to do to retrieve it from you?"
The water Faerie smiled, "I see now, Prince
Celeon. You wish for quest, do you not?" she paused and examined the anxiety
obvious in Celeon's eyes, "Bring me the book, 'Water Faeries', then we'll talk."
Celeon nodded and left the healing spring. He
walked toward the city of Faerieland and found the Faerieland bookshop. He wanted
to walk inside, but noticed that the shopkeeper was gone. When he turned around,
the gruesome pant devil was waiting for him.
