Hubert the All Knowing
We now find Mom, Sunny, Fire and Fuzzy all in the office,
frantic about a newspaper article that Mom has just read about a meeting of
Kass' Minions… Sunny says they will go to the meeting to see what it is about,
but only for that reason…
"Don't worry, we'll go," I finished, looking
around at everyone. Mom got up and brushed off her short skirt and long sleeved
T-shirt. "All right, we will go, but you have to be ready… Are you sure?" she
questioned, pulling her long brown hair into a tight bun. I nodded and walked
out of the office into the living room, and shuffled through a few books that
I had read a lot. Nothing about defeating Kass… I thought to myself.
I rushed up to my room and went to Oink who was
in his petpet bed. I pet is soft skin and grinned. He awoke quietly and made
an oink noise, which meant I knew he would be okay if I left him there. I ran
down the stairs and through the front door, telling my family I would be back
in an hour.
I rushed over to Ally's mansion of a house, hers
being over five times the size of mine. I crawled up the ladder that she had
leading up to her window and finally made it to the top. I crawled through the
window as she waved at me, beaming broadly.
"You're off?" she questioned, looking at me sweetly.
"Yeah… I ran away, but mom has a soft spot for
me," I muttered, giggling slightly as I told her this.
"She must," Ally said quietly; she opened a book
and began reading it.
I walked over to her and looked at the book.
"Cool book. Anyway, I'm going to this Kass meeting thing, I was wondering if
you could..." I said, but didn't finish because she cut me off.
"Yeah, sure, I'll watch Oink for you," she moaned,
motioning me out the window. I gasped at her. "Ally, do you know you just read
my mind?"
She looked up at me with a puzzled look. "I-I
did?" she questioned, looking very distraught at the thought of mind reading.
"Well… err… I'll be going now Ally! Bye…" I said,
climbing out the window and down the ladder. She waved at me through the window
with a slimy tentacle.
I made my way back to my house as the sun finally
lowered itself in the sky. I walked up the cool steps to the door and opened
it up, seeing Fire, Fuzzy, and Mom all awaiting my arrival home. The grabbed
my arms as we sprinted towards a balloon that would bring us to Meridell.
**********
We arrived there and found a line that was longer then a mile, not even being
able to see the citadel. Suddenly, I felt a power within me. I shoved through
the crowd to get to the building with people stepping all over my paws. "Move
it… OUCH! Get off my toe you lousy good for nothing Usul!" I screamed, pushing
Neopets and their owners out of my way. Soon, the tactic proved worthless, so
I sped through the crowd as fast as I could to reach the front. The Darigan
Draik frowned at me as wind blew all over him. "I'd like to get in!" I screamed
over the roar of the crowd. Fuzzy, Fire and Mom all managed to make it up there,
breathing deeply.
He motioned me inward and I did so as the Citadel
doors opened.
Inside was an enormous poster displaying the
Darigan colors with a picture of Kass over it. Darigan Techos all held small
hand ray guns as they walked up and down the aisles. Kass was already speaking
as we sat down on an empty bench. "And furthermore… Let you all be my MINIONS!"
I yelled; all the Techos pointed their guns at us. Mom had grabbed Fuzzy and
managed to get out, but Fire and I were stuck.
Surrounded by Techos, we were trapped. They lifted
their guns and shot them at us, hitting only me. Fire had managed to get out,
but I know lay motionless on ground.
I felt something icy swirl around my body, choking
me. I wanted to break loose of it, but I couldn't, it wouldn't let me. Then
a sharp pain tingled all over me, shooting into me like sharp needles. No, no,
you cannot take me Kass! I thought to myself. I was awoken by the icy scream
of Kass, who was holding his head in pain. I got up and ran out, wondering why
I felt like I had a different skin on.
I made it out of the citadel and when I stepped
out, I couldn't believe it. "Look, it's a Monster!" someone shouted. I looked
around as they all ran except for Mom, Fuzzy and Fire. I walked over to them,
still trying to avoid the people who were screaming.
"What monster?" I questioned as someone hit me
with a potato.
"They're talking about you Sunny," Mom quietly
said, a tear dripping down her face.
**********
Sooner or later I knew something like this would happen, but not so soon. I
left for school the next day wearing a pink shirt, blue jean pants, white shoes
and a humongous overcoat. I wore a hat so no one would notice I had changed.
I left the house silently and walked to school with Ally, who still did not
know that I had changed. "Why are you wearing that, it's so… Hoodlum." She said,
taking off my hat and overcoat. "WAIT, NO DON'T TAKE THAT OFF!"
But it was too late, she saw me and screamed.
"WHAT ARE YOU SUNNY!?" she questioned, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"I got turned into a Darigan Aisha…" I moaned,
sitting down on the curb. She saw that I was depressed, so she sat down with
me.
"We can't take you to school like this…" she
mumbled, looking down into the water.
I sighed deeply and looked at the ground, wishing
I never gone to the citadel. Ally suddenly grinned at me which meant she was
bound to have a stupid idea.
I went into school, pretending I was myself,
went my locker and went to class… That was her brilliant idea. To go around
and act as if nothing is different. I left school with 29 notes on my back,
all saying 'I'm a monster'. I decided that was enough. I had to go away from
school.
I went home immediately, ignoring Ally's pleas
for forgiveness. I stormed up to my room as soon as I got into the house, Mom,
Fuzzy and Fire all watched me go up. "Stop STARING AT ME!" I screamed as I slammed
the door.
***********
I saw myself running in a cave; towards a door. I must get that treasure! I
said to myself, running down the cave. I finally arrived at the door and opened
it, a bright light surrounding me and a raspy voice came from no where. You
are the one who will conquer the shadows. It said.
Suddenly I awoke, shaking with icy sweat stuck
to my face. My fur was plastered to my cheek. I got up scraped the ice off,
pulling off some purple fur as I did so. I redressed into a T-shirt and pants,
and quickly left the room.
I crept down the stairs, were I heard my mom
reading out loud like she usually does whenever we're sleeping. It must've been
late because Krulador was out, and as the clock also said 11:30 PM…
I left the house for good now, nothing in my
hands. "I'm out on a quest, so don't worry about me!" I hollered throughout
the silent house.
**********
I closed the door and left our house silently, hoping I could find the cave.
I remembered the dream I had, the cave and the door specifically. I had no directions,
so I left off to Neopia Central to go ask someone who knew where everything
is: Hubert the Hotdog Seller.
I briskly walked down to the partially-crowded
streets of the bazaar, looking for Hubert. The dimly lit stand was crowded with
people as I approached him, all supposedly wanting a hotdog for a midnight snack.
I walked up to the stand and everyone froze, including Hubert, and made room
for me. He looked awfully frightened of me.
"Hey Hubert, It's me, Sunny!" I yelled over
the quiet mumbling of the crowd around me. He shifted his hat then approached
me with a grin from ear to ear.
"Sunny? My darling sweet Sunny! It is you!" he
yelled; most of the people began snigger. "Yeah, hey you know where everything
in Neopia is… Well, I was wondering if you knew the Palace of Shadows was?"
I questioned him quietly. He scratched his chin and then looked like he had
an idea.
"Oh, you mean the Citadel of Darkness! Yeah,
it's located with Darigan Citadel, it's kind of a door that leads to it… you'll
know where to go," he said, motioning me to go on. As I left, Hubert's stand
began filling with people quickly as he waved me on in the general direction
of Meridell.
To be continued…
