How to Save Money on Weapons

by linchen

I am linchen and I'll be recommending some not so expensive but powerful weapons and telling you what weapon you might not want to buy.

If you are a Neopian who has a total saving of 50,000 NP or less, this article will prove to be very helpful but if you are one who can afford a Wand of the Air Faerie and still have 50,000 NP then this article won't help you much.

(Specie weapons not included)

Grand/Ultra Bubble Beam
Grand Lightning Beam and Ultra bubble beam, are they really THAT powerful? No. Try using an Improved Lightning Beam on a NeoPet, it nearly do exactly the same damage. My pet often fight other pets who have equipped themselves with Grand Lightning Beam but I didn't find them hard to beat and as I have some strong weapons to dodge them, they didn't do much more damage than a pet with an improved Lightning Beam. Ultra bubble beam is the same; it is not any better than a level 2 bubble beam. So fellow Neopians don't use all the hard earned Neopoints on Grand Lightning Beam and try buying an improved Lightning Beam to replace it.

Wand of the Air Faerie
(I can't say much about this one as I only encountered it once.) It's indeed good but not really worth the price as it only does about 5-7 icons.

Attack Fork
With an average price of 55,000 NP, I don't recommend you to save your money for that, as it is not even as powerful as the grand Lightning Beam, just rarer.

Scorchstones That Only Defend
These are as expensive as some other healing Scorchstones and if you have a weapon that can both attack and defend (stated below) why bother to buy a weapon that can only defend?

One-time Use Item (healing potion, snowballs, battlecards, muffins and motes)
I am not saying that you shouldn't buy those but there are some weapons that can replace some of them.

Healing Potions
As your pet gets stronger and stronger you'll need to buy those continuously to keep up with your pet's hp until you need a healing Scorchstone to do the job, you will need thousands of NP to spend on them, so why not try getting a Slime potion? I know it cost around 5000 NP but it can heal your pet back ten hp, once per battle. Think, if you battle ten pets and your pet has 15hp you'll probably need ten Pale Elixir or more and that is going to cost you 4000 NP or more but buying a Slime potion can definitely last longer than ten battles. So quit buying healing potion and save your money for a Slime potion.

Snowballs, Muffins and Battlecards
Snowballs, one of the most common and powerful weapons. But with many Neopians not allowing snowballs and battlecards in their fight you can't really use them and with a exploding snowball or any more powerful snowballs costing 250 NP+ each, it's going to cost you a lot. Now here is a cheap way, instead of buying exploding snowballs, buy a peach snowball. It cost 100 NP--and it is also powerful.

Use your snowballs on a one-player opponent after you have freeze him and it will definitely do a damage of 20hp+ on him if you use Fierce attack.

I strongly object if you want to buy a battlecard. It's more expensive but not as powerful as a snowball so don't buy it. Muffins, though some of it is more powerful than the snowballs but it cost around 2000 NP so I don't recommend you to buy it as well.

Motes
I never encountered people using them but by looking them up in the Battlepedia and comparing with their price it is not worth buying.

Bottled Snows
One of the best weapons I'd like to use. Bottled snows can both attack and defend therefore saving the money on the shields. I mentioned before in the Grand Lightning Beam paragraph, 'with weapons that can dodge it, it doesn't do much damage'; Fire snow is one of this weapons. It defends against fire and darkness attacks and if you have a radioactive snow you can dodge Grand Lightning Beam's light attack as well.

Forest Sling
A powerful weapon but it doesn't defend against anything.

Snowglobe Staff
It's a great weapon that can freeze, attack or grant you a snowball. As it is not so expensive I suggest you get one before the price rise.

TIPS
1. Learn to haggle.
2. Wait at the battle magic shop when it is about to restock, you might find a surprise.
3. Half Price Day (3rd of every month). Buy your weapons at that day; you'll save plenty.

Find my article useful? I hope so. There are a lots of weapons that can both attack and defend I just listed some inexpensive but powerful ones above. If you have anymore questions Neomail me.
