I fluttered my eyelids to get used to the sunlight and slowly got up and yawned.
"Al..." I said. "You still got the map?"
Al nodded and handed it to me. "Thanks."
I looked at it, and by the looks of it, we were there all right, we were there.
Now all we needed to do was find the Quadheximos somewhere on the shore. The
map would tell us everything.
The markings said to go right into the woods and follow the path. I was taken
aback by this. What path? I looked closer. The markings of the path also seemed
to show what looked like little birds with big heads, all along the path...I
looked up and shouted, shouted for no apparent reason. Al and Cleevis looked
at me funny. I looked up again and smiled. All the Pteris were flying in one
directing, almost like a path.
"Follow me," I said. "I know what I'm doing."
I started following the Pteris to wherever they'd lead me, surely what the
Path on the map was.

Captain Longbeard the green Gelert, the captain of the crew, got off his boat
as it got to the shore. His lips were pursed as he looked at Cleevis' boat,
sitting there and not a sign of Griffin and the gang.
"We must hurry..." the captain said. "They're already ahead of us. Scar Shankly,
yell to scare the Pteris You know why."
The Shoyru that the captain was talking to, the same large green Shoyru that
almost knocked the snot out of Griffin, shouted a war-call. No Pteris flew anywhere.
Silence.
"They've figured it out..." Captain Longbeard said and cursed. "We'll follow
the way there by heart then...Mr. McRoos, you know the way better than anybody
else here..." The red Blumaroo nodded and hopped ahead, the rest of the crew
following.

I looked around where the Pteris stopped, at the mouth of a cave. The map DID
show a cave where the path stopped. We must've been close.
The map then showed what looked like three triangles in a circular formation.
In the middle of the formation was...A PICTURE OF THE GOLDEN EYE!!
"AL! CLEEVIS!" I shouted, shoving the map underneath their noses. "THERE IT
IS!! THE GOLDEN EYE!!"
Al and Cleevis smiled widely and looked at the map.
My eyes widened. We were that close!! But what were the triangles for...I looked
around. Nothing that could represent any triangles...no delta for a river, no
crossed trees...I handed the map to Al.
"Al...what do those mean? Those triangles..." I said. You gave the questions,
Al had the answers.
"Well...After reading 'the Maps of Neopia'...I've learned a thing or two about
geography. See, when map-reading, little triangles usually stand for...mountains."
My eyebrows knotted and I shrunk a little. "Mountains?" I said. "We're going
to have to climb mountains...great."
"Well...not for sure, really..." Al said, pointing to a part on the map where
we were. "If we were to climb mountains than the map would've just said in the
first place to head to the center of this island where the mountains were. See,
look at the dotted line. It looks like its going through cave and right to the
quadheximos!"
I smiled at Al and he smiled back. Cleevis looked at the map and raised an
eyebrow. "So, where to next?"
"Through the cave." I said, pointing forward. As we started walking in, we
noticed the cave was dark, wet, and slimy. I took out a match from my hat and
lit it, making the area around us somewhat light. I grabbed a stick and lit
it with the match, to create a torch.
We marched on, very cautiously, and when we saw something zoom in front of
us, Cleevis squealed and pointed to it. I bent down and waved my torch around,
then saw a mouse scurry off. I sighed and looked back at Cleevis.
"What..." Cleevis said. "I thought it was a ghost er sumthin'." I sighed and
turned back around to follow the path through the dark cave.

Scar Shankly lead the crew to the edge of the cave. "Now what," Scar said.
Captain Longbeard looked at the cave in disgust. "I'll get me new outfit wet
if we go in thar," he said. "C'mon. I know a shortcut..." The captain said
and lead the crew to a hidden path. "We'll get thar in half da time if we go
here."
He trotted in front, the rest of the crew following. The Blumaroo that came
in last looked around and cover the path up by a big boulder and followed the
rest of the crew.

When the group started to see a light from the cave, they all smiled and ran
faster, grinning as though they had spent days in the cave. It took a while
to adjust to the light again, but when they did, Griffin's smile turned to a
frown as he looked at the small open field fenced in by the cave and the three
mountains. In front of them, right there, was Captain Longbeard and his crew,
the captain holding the Quadheximos in his grimy paws.
