Elegant rushed out of the PetPet Puddle, searching for her owner. She searched,
and when she saw her, galloped over. Elegant was a blue Uni, and not very rich.
She lived in a fair sized NeoHome, and her and her twin brother, Muscles, where
treated well. But they never could afford to spend much money on not needed
things. Elegant had come to the PetPet Puddle after school to see what colours
she could paint her pet Puppyblew. Her Puppyblew, Tiger, was a Christmas Present.
And it was the only Christmas present she had gotten, besides for the leash
that came with Tiger. The newest fad that was going on in Neopian High School
was painted pets, and Elegant wanted to have her own painted pet.
"Did you see what colours you can paint Tiger?" Elegant's owner, Chaos, asked.
Elegant nodded.
"Yes, I want to paint Tiger pink! Ooh, he would look so cute!" Elegant said,
rearing up and whinnying loudly, showing her pleasure. Chaos nodded briefly.
"Well, I was wanting to talk to you about this, Elegant." Chaos stopped
walking and looked directly at Elegant. "Elegant... money has been tight. The
NeoHome bills have just came in, and even without having to pay the bills, we
still can't afford to buy a paint brush to paint Tiger. If we could afford it,
I would buy it for you, but we really can't. We can't afford much of anything.
You know that. I had to save up for two months in order to buy you that Puppyblew.
And it was expensive. That's why you only got Tiger for Christmas. Muscles got
a more, because the PetPet he wanted was real cheap. Greeble's aren't expensive.
And I know getting Tiger painted means a lot to you, but we don't have the money..."
Chaos sighed. She wished that she could afford the PetPet Paintbrush for Tiger,
but she really couldn't.
"Oh, Chaos, don't worry! I understand that we're poor. And I understand why
Muscles got his pet Greeble, two plushies, and a Fuzzle. And I only got a Puppyblew.
And I do not expect for you to pay for the PetPet brush. I have three hundred
Neopoints saved up. 150 NP are from the 25 NP I get a week. The other is from
Helping Mrs_Clean. I figure that I can look for work and save up my allowance.
That way you don't have to pay. Don't worry, Chaos, I can pay for it myself.
You don't have to worry, I know we're tight on Neopoints." Elegant forced a
smile. She was planning on paying for it herself, but Chaos stressed how important
it was to save Neopoints. Elegant knew she and her twin brother where poor.
And they both understood it and never asked for any luxuries, but Chaos seemed
disappointed that they were poor.
"Okay, well, we'll see how it works out." Chaos smiled, and patted Elegant
on the back. "Oh, Tiger is home. I know you don't like to take him to school
since he isn't painted, so I left him in your room." Elegant nodded.
"Hey, Chaos, where's Muscles anyway?" Elegant asked. "Shouldn't he be home,
too?" Chaos laughed.
"Oh, Muscles went to Grundo's Gym. He's on Level Two, and wanted to work out
more. He's coming home later," Chaos said, and continued walking on home. They
reached their house on Neopian Lane. Elegant had her Apple for a snack and ran
upstairs. She sat down to do Homework. As soon as she finished, the door opened.
"I'm home!" Muscles screamed. Elegant galloped down the stairs, and nudges
Muscles.
"Yuugh! Your red fur is all wet! Go wash up, Muscles!" Elegant squealed. Muscles
grinned.
"All right, Elegant," he started up the stairs, "I'm on Level Three now, Chaos!"
He added before running into the bathroom. Elegant smiled. Muscles was something
else. Elegant wandered into the kitchen.
"Chaos, I am going to hit the Marketplace and scout prices for a Pink PetPet
Paint Brush. I'll be back by supper," Elegant added, tossing a scarf around
her. Chaos nodded. Elegant left the house and made her way to the Marketplace.
She saw some school friends, and chatted with them before going to the Shop
Wizard.
"How may I help you?" the Show Wizard asked.
"I would like to see the cheapest prices for a Pink PetPet Paint Brush," Elegant
declared. A screen appeared and a long, wide road was there.
"Walk down that road. The shops that have a Pink PetPet Paint Brush will be
along the sides." The Shop Wizard waited for Elegant to walk through before
closing the screen. Elegant entered the first shop, and looked around for the
Pink PetPet Paintbrush. Her eyes widened. They wanted 9,900 Neopoints! She raced
out and entered other stores, but it only got worse. The prices where from 10,000
to 25,000 Neopoints! Elegant went home.
"How much?" Chaos asked. Elegant sighed.
"10,000 NP." Elegant went to bed. She had a strange dream. Or, she thought
it was a dream. She was woken up by a...Faerie. The Faerie dragged her and Tiger
out to Faerieland. The Queen Faerie took Tiger. Tiger became... Pink! Elegant
was pulled in next. She felt a strange coat over her blue fur.... She had WINGS!
Then, Muscles appeared. He was painted and given wings, too! His Greeble was
with him, and became blue. Elegant woke up. Muscles, Chaos, Tiger and the Greeble
where there.
"Something strange happened last night. Our PetPets were painted and we became
faeries." Elegant's mouth dropped. Her dream wasn't a dream - it was reality.
Chaos grinned.
"You were finally rewarded for your kindness..." Chaos hugged them.
