After getting rid of all the leftover asparagus from our
last adventure, the Noodles went back to their normal life… sort of.
You see, when they came back home they started their hobbies again until a new
concert was booked. Firey_Sac went back to training, Number Nimmo went back
to meditating, Bhuhbuh went back to flying, and KN went back to studying. KN
unfortunately also went back to inventing. Sometimes she was too smart for her
own good, and it was the worst possible this time...
"Mum! Mum! I've done it!" KN cried, running down the stairs.
"Done what?" I asked.
"I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA!!!" she yelled happily.
I sighed. "Come on, I'll show ya!"
KoochieNoobus dragged me up the stairs to the lab. "See?" she pointed. The
other pets were standing around, looking at a giant machine.
"I don't know what it does yet," KN said, leading everyone into the machine,
"…But we're about to find out."
Smacking a button, she leaned back, but felt nothing. Everyone fell to the
ground, because there no longer were any walls, objects, or matter. All we saw
were swirling colours. There wasn't even a visible ground! Finally, there was
a loud screeching noise and everything went black. I landed on something with
a hard thud.
"Wh... where are we?" I heard Number Nimmo say. I opened my eyes, and it looked
like some sort of huge super-city was surrounding us. "Hello, there! Are you
okay?" I glanced around and saw a small creature standing at my feet. I guessed
it to be a NeoPet, since it resembled a Jubjub. "Are we still in Neopia?" I
asked.
"Neopia? Huh? That's such an outdated name. You are in Version 10. Welcome!"
the Jubjub-like creature replied.
"These people confuse me. I'm going to the Battledome," Firey_Sac said, and
started walking off.
"Battledome?" the small creature said. "What's this 'Battledome' that you speak
of?"
Firey_Sac turned and blinked at him a few times, then fell to his knees. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
he cried.
"I can see that you are tourists. If you want to find out more, go to the Historic
Files Centre in the middle of town," the creature muttered, then wobbled off.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the tall building. Walking in, we saw rows
and rows of elevators and a single, large sign. The sign had many different
floors listed on it, but we decided on Floor 29B: Electronic Files. We went
into one of the elevators and enter the code 29B on the keyboard. The elevator
zoomed upward, and we arrived at Floor 29B in less than three seconds. Wandering
off the elevator completely dizzy, we individually crashed into different walls.
When our senses were back together, KN found a sign that read: ELECTRONIC
FILE DISPLAY - LEFT CORRIDOR, ROOM 310.
Firey_Sac trudged into the room and discovered a large device that looked
sort of like a Plasma TV. He picked up a large remote as we all followed in.
"There's nothing good on right now!" he exclaimed, clicking all sorts of buttons.
KN put down the operating manual she found and said, "It's not a TV, silly.
This is used to electronically store and call up files of things that used to
exist. Here, I'll demonstrate." She walked over and all of my pets sat down
to watch. "See? This is how you work it." I heard her say. I was flipping through
a book I found on a shelf hoping to find out how we got to this place called
Version 10, when I heard my NeoPets gasp and call out "Mum... get over here.
You won't believe this."
I put down the book and walked over to the TV. Looking at the top, it read,
"File 56>Famous Pets>Musicians>The
Noodles." I looked below the top title and saw pictures and biographies
of Number Nimmo, KN, Bhuhbuh, and Firey_Sac, along with something else to top
it off. Underneath each picture, there was a tiny bit of text, which read: "Current
State: Deceased". Speechless, I looked toward KN.
"Mum, welcome to the future."
About three hours later, everyone was still shuffling through the books and
reading files. "Aha! We found it!" Bhuhbuh and Number Nimmo said. They pointed
at the screen of the Electronic File Display. "Look here. It's under 'File 103>Science
and Technology>Inventions>Mechanical>Time Machine', and it describes it, too!"
KN flew over to the screen quickly and read the text. "Here we are! Heh heh,
I guess I'm really famous," she said. "Okay, it says the Time Machine was invented
by KoochieNoobus, during the age BV10, which must mean 'Before Version 10'.
Not much is known about it except a manual on how to use the Time Machine formulated
after its creation and experimentation, and it disappeared about a month after
it was created. The current whereabouts of the device or its remains are unknown."
KN printed off the operating instructions that were listed below the description
and ran out of the room.
"KN, wait!" Number Nimmo cried out. Her head popped back into the room. "Why?
I have all the knowledge I need," she inquired.
"Well, for one thing, we don't even know what Version 10 is. Plus, the Time
Machine doesn't exist anymore!" KN sighed. "I have it figured out. This MUST
be Neopia, only in the future, and with a new name. Also, their Time Machine
is missing... not ours." KN grinned and we followed her swiftly out of the building
itself.
"There it is!" I shouted.
"Lemme see! Lemme see! Lemme see!" Firey_Sac hopped about. He grabbed the binoculars
and peered through them. In a meadow just a little ways further, our Time Machine
was sitting in the middle of a grass patch.
"We'll get there faster if we fly!" Bhuhbuh said.
I was about to say that I had no wings, and neither did Firey_Sac, but I was
immediately going up, up, and up. The ground seemed so far away, and I felt
the wind beating against me as we rushed towards the machine.
I looked up and saw that Bhuhbuh and Number Nimmo were carrying me, and then
I saw KN to the right carrying Firey_Sac.
"Woohoo, look at meeeeeeee!" I heard him scream. "Waaahooooooooooooo…" *WHACK*.
KN was still flying, but Firey_Sac was caught in the only tree around. "Oww…"
he wailed. KN grabbed him out of a tree, but nobody could fly as fast because
they were laughing hysterically. Soon enough, we landed near the Time Machine,
and KN read through the printed manual.
"OK, here we go…" she said, pressing a few buttons. We were in another vortex,
but it didn't seem as bad this time. When we landed, I looked around. It appeared
that we were back in our NeoHome. I got up and brushed myself off, and all of
a sudden Dr. Sloth walked in speaking some sort of strange language that I had
never heard before.
Maybe we should try this again...
