Jhudora and the Grand Lightning Beam

by twayblade807

It was a fine sunny day in Neopia. In a NeoHome in the Winding Wood Drive of Neopia Central, a Kacheek was having breakfast with her owner...

"What do you want for breakfast, then?" asked the Kacheek's owner, known as Hyper. "Coffee?"

Dark the Kacheek shrugged. "Mint Tea would do me just fine, Hyp. Thanks," she added, as Hyper passed her the Mint Tea. "Hyp, can I go to Faerieland today? Look, it's beautiful weather out there." The yellow Kacheek pointed out the window, sipping the tea. "It's a perfect day to go to Faerieland. Please?"

Hyper smiled. "Of course...come on, when you finish with that Mint Tea let's go. At this rate, by the time it's Year 5 we won't be at Faerieland."

"I'm going, not we. Look, for once, can't I go to Faerieland alone?" pleaded Dark. "I mean, Hyp, it's not like you don't have anything to do while I'm gone...you can go to the Guild HQ or something, and talk to your friends...pretty please with a cherry on top?"

"Fine," snapped Hyper indignantly. "I know you just don't want me around. Go to Faerieland yourself. I don't care." With that, Hyper put her Leather Jacket on and stomped outside heatedly.

Dark grinned to herself. "Touchy, she is." Dark walked out the door. There was no sign of Hyp. Feeling pleased with herself, Dark walked in the direction of Faerieland. But he soon arrived at the coast beside Meridell. She could glimpse Faerieland, if she looked carefully.

"Now, how am I supposed to get across the water to Faerieland?" she wondered aloud. As though in answer, a beautiful Light Faerie flew down to him, her golden hair flying behind her like a fan. Not an Uber-Light Faerie, Dark noticed. But nonetheless a Faerie.

"Hello, young Kacheek, my name is Sun. I see you would like to go to Faerieland: would you like me to carry you across? By the way, what is your name?" The Light Faerie smiled, showing her flawless white teeth.

     "Um...my name's Dark..."

Sun frowned. "Dark? That name sounds like something of Jhudora's creation. Or the Uber-Dark Faerie. Or Doctor Sloth. Or--"

"OK, OK, I get the point!" said Dark loudly. "Please, won't you carry me across?"

Sun sighed. "All right then young NeoPet." Without another word, Sun put Dark on her back and they soared above the clouds, to Dark's delight. Dark could see everything going on in Faerie City. Pets were asking for jobs at the Employment Agency. Owners wanting their pet to have a good education were haggling for books in the Bookstore. In Jhudora's Cloud, Dark could see Jhudora snatching a Grand Lightning Beam and chortling evilly.

Surprisingly quickly, they landed in Faerie City, right in front of the Faerie Castle, where the Hidden Tower was. "I shall go and do my business now," Sun told Dark, "and you shall go and do yours. Farewell!"

"Bye," muttered Dark. "I hope I see you again sometime, and--" ZAP! Before Dark could finish her sentence, she saw a lightning bolt whizz straight towards Sun. Without thinking, Dark leapt onto the lightning bolt that was meant for Sun. It hit her in the tail, and she could feel the painful electric shock go through her body.

She was almost unconscious when she saw Jhudora the Dark Faerie. "Haha, so the puny little Kacheek tries to save the great noble Light Faerie, eh?" she cackled. "Not a chance!" She took up her Grand Lightning Beam, which she had used to strike Dark, and aimed it at the Light Faerie. This time Dark was too weak to move.

But as soon as Jhudora fired the lightning bolt, Fyora, Queen of the Faeries, appeared in front of the Light Faerie, facing Jhudora. She held out her hand and the Lightning Beam backfired into a nearby cloud, which immediately turned black.

"Jhudora, stop your mischief this instant," scolded Fyora. "Go back to your cloud to give NeoPets quests, rather than walking around these clouds and shooting other Faeries!"

Jhudora scowled, but said, "Yes Fyora" and disappeared. Fyora turned to the Light Faerie. "I hope you are all right, are you not, Sun?"

"Yes, Your Majesty, I am fine, thank you."

"You have done a very kind and noble act," Fyora told Dark. "Saving this Light Faerie from getting into Jhudora's clutches was very brave. I bless you, my young Kacheek. You are granted the ability to transform from your original form to a Baby Lupe and back at your will."

"Thank you, Queen Fyora!" Dark replied, excited. "I always wanted to be a Baby Lupe, Your Majesty!"

Fyora smiled. "I know that, young one. You have had a tiring day. Go back home and rest." All Dark saw was a white light, and she found himself in her Regal Oak Wood Bed.

Dark rubbed her eyes. She wondered if it was all a dream. "I want to transform into a Baby Lupe," she whispered. And then, by magic, Dark was a Baby Lupe! She was overjoyed. "I want to turn into a Kacheek again," and of course, Dark was a Kacheek. It wasn't just a dream! It was real!

Soon after, Dark's owner came back. "Hi, Hyp," said Dark merrily. She surprised her owner by turning into a Baby Lupe!

"Oh! How did you do that?! Tell me all that happened, Dark!" cried Hyper. So Dark sat down on her bean bag chair and told her owner the story that I have just told you.
