Yirvee and The Attack of The Devilish Usuki Dol

by cloudmime

My paw clutched the nightstand as I searched desperately in the dark to find the lamp switch. Books fell onto the ground as so did my glass of water, but it didn't matter I needed to see the light. Finally I managed to turn it on. When I did beaming light filled my room and made the shadows helplessly run away from the frigid walls.

I looked around to see if what I had seen in the dark was really what it had been. I scanned under my bed, rummaged through my toy chest, and even looked in my dinner plate I had lazily plopped onto my desk.

"Hmm..." I murmured to myself. " It must have been just a shadow effect."

I yawned, stretched a little and snuggled back into my bed. Squeezing the pillow and pulling the blankets over me. Without a minute gone by I opened my eyes just to reassure myself it was okay, but then I saw it again. The horrible shadow, that covered my walls, the horrible shadow that made me stay up all night, the horrible shadow that that reminds me of that day, the most unfortunate day any Poogle can have.

"Yirvee wake up wake up." I had been sleeping for an hour not realising that I had fallen asleep in Science class when we were doing our pop quiz.

"Yirvee you've been sleeping like a baby," my good friend CreamyPUFFO (Creamy) whispered to me, "Thank goodness Mrs. Pip didn't see me fill in your answers or we would have both flunked."

I looked at my friend then looked down at my desk to see a grade 'A' on my pop quiz paper.

"Thank you so much Creamy," I said. "If I had failed this test, Geoff my owner would've made me scrub Kauvara's floors, you know how dirty her floors are with all that magic she does." I looked around to see bored students, crumby desks and Mrs. Pip still checking some tests.

"Excuse me," I said in a firm voice raising my hand, "What can we do if we've already finished our tests?"

     Mrs. Pip eyed me.

"Just stay seated.. in fact,"--Mrs. Pip checked her watch--"You can go, only If I am done checking your work."

Creamy and I grabbed our backpacks and ran outside as fast as we could. We were so excited it was our first day to be let out so early.

"So what do you want to do?" I asked my good friend.

"Hmm, definitely get some chocolate milkshakes," she replied.

"Oh and let's go browse that new toy store in town, I heard it has some awesome new Usuki Dolls." I swung my backpack tighter around me and raced Creamy all the way to the milkshake shop.

After a gallon each of 'Mocha Mix Delight Milkshakes', Creamy and I decided it was time to go at least window shopping at the new improved toy shop. I heard it had been re-done and stocked with new items including some rare Usuki dolls that weren't even available at Usuki Land.

When we arrived I hardly recognized it was the toy shop. It's windows were squeaky clean and it was painted a lovely emerald green color that sparkled in the day light.

"Are you sure this is the toy shop?" Creamy asked, "last time I saw it, it was all ugly and dusty and it looked like it was ready to be closed."

"Well after Halloween they decided to re-model. I don't know why but it looks great!"

Quickly I went inside as Creamy followed. The shelfs were jam packed with toys, and behind the counter were limited edition faerie dolls and faerie snowglobes.

"Ohh I want one!" Creamy said eying the Space faerie doll.

My eyes were in complete wonderland. Toys after toys after toys. I couldn't believe it, but then I felt like I was in a dream when I went over to the Usuki doll basket. I picked up a few and hardly recognized them.

"Errr... what's this one?" I said to myself as I propped up a Usuki with a tie and cool pink hair, and long stockings. More and more unusual Usuki dolls were in that basket, one dressed up as a Poogle, another that was reading a book, there was even one that was carrying a baby Usul. "Must be a Babysitter Usuki," I said.

As I rummaged through the basket I saw a Usuki doll that was wearing red. It looked cool but I couldn't see the whole thing since a ton of Usuki dolls were piled on-top of it. I tugged onto the Usuki until it finally came out of its hiding place. It was a Devilish Usuki Doll. What's it doing here? I thought, isn't this supposed to be really rare? Without giving it another thought I grabbed the Usuki and bought it.

***

"Wait you can't just buy a Usuki doll that fast," Creamy said to me as the red Lupe clerk gave me my change.

     "Why not?"

"Because it's like some hidden rule--Rare Usuki Dolls can't be bought under a minute."

     I looked at Creamy.

"Whatever," I said. I grabbed the bag which had my Devilish Usuki doll in it. "I gotta go home, it's my turn to cook dinner."

"Wait for me, remember I'm sleeping over at your house."

     "No you're not."

     "Who did your science test?"

"You... okay you can sleep over at my house. Under one condition don't tell my family especially Tuhtao that I got the Devilish Usuki doll, you know how much Tuhtao loves pitchforks, and fiery demons."

     Creamy giggled.

     "All right."

The flight home was a lengthy one. Creamy and I chatted all the way there about my new Usuki doll and how badly she wanted it. When we arrived home I set the bag and my backpack in my bedroom, then went to wash my hands in my bathroom and put on my slippers. When I came back into my room the toy store bag was gone.

     "Creamy!" I yelled.

Immediately she ran up the stairs.

     "What's wrong?"

"Did you get the Usuki Doll?" I asked her

"No, in fact I haven't seen it since we've arrived home."

     I looked around my room.

"That's odd," I said, "I just set it down then went to-"

Suddenly a loud stomp came from my closed closet shaking the room.

"Yirv what was that?" Creamy asked.

"I don't know, go check it out," I said, pushing Creamy towards the closet.

"No way!" Creamy exclaimed, jumping back, "It's your house you have to go check."

Suddenly another stomp followed by an eerie giggle came from the closet.

"Creamy, was that you," I inquired.

"Should I take that as an insult?" Creamy said, "I don't laugh like a little baby--"

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! HAHAHAHA!!! The eerie laugh and loud stomping was getting louder and louder. Books on my bookshelves started to fall out, the lights started to flicker and my windows almost cracked.

"Yirvee go open your closet this is starting to scare me and it isn't even funny." Creamy exclaimed.

"Okay I'll go check it out just hold on," I said. I slowly tip-toed over to my closet. The stomping and giggles were getting so loud now it almost made me feel like I was in a rock concert and sitting right next to the speaker. Swiftly and carefully I pulled opened the closet doors.

A giant sized Devilish Usuki popped out of the closet, her hands were over her eyes as if she was shielding the sunlight.

     "What's she doing?" I asked.

"I don't know," Creamy said frozen at the sight of the giant Usuki doll.

Without hesitation the Usuki doll opened her hands revealing her eyes.

     "PEEK-A-BOO!" the Usuki doll exclaimed.
