Painting Pound Pets II - Selfish or Selfless?

by lavenderamethyst

NEOPIAN POUND - Since so many of you have requested a continuation of "Painting Pound Pets" here it is, debating the subject... is painting and throwing them into the pound good or bad? Does it promote that only painted pets are worthy of deserving good homes?

To tell you the truth straight out here it is: Yeah, it is. It is promoting that, but it is for the good of Neopia. However that that is not the point of painting pound pets. I think that it is okay to do and I am going to continue to paint because the untrained plain coloured pets that have "creative" names are just not going to be adopted by anyone unless they have an extremely good heart or simply want to.

However, adopting pets with bad names is great. Paint them and put them back into the pound... they are going to be adopted within seconds. Everyone loves to own a painted pet.

While it is promoting that painted pets are good, we don't want little fartjr1111 starving in the pound for an eternity.

Actually, I think that plain pets are perfectly okay, you don't have to have a painted pet to show off. One of my pets (in another account) is probably going to stay blue. It's not that I don't have the NP to paint her. She's just pretty that way and that is what her personality represents her as. What's the use of painted pets? It's to show their personality, not to see who can afford the most expensive and rare brush or how cute they look. Baby pets are nice, but is that what your pet wants to be?

I can afford to paint my pets nice colours, but that's not what Neopets is all about. Neopets is about how you and your pets interact, and how far your imagination will go.

I know a lot of people, including my best friend, who only want their pets to be the best colours and to show off. You don't need those to show off. The size of my NeoHome, my pets stats, and my gallery already shows off on how "rich" you are and what you need to be.

However, there are pets that need to be painted to be adopted to stay. I'm sorry but fartjr1111 is going to be in the pound for possibly forever unless someone paints him. That is when painting is needed. For some pets, it is totally necessary to paint.

Do you know what I mean? I hope you understand the difference. Sylentcrystal is blue because she is quiet and blue is a soft and quiet colour. She isn't loud or sunny, but is quiet and likes the darkness. Shadow is a bit too dark on her though, so blue is blue unless she can find a better colour (faerie might be an option, because she is always floating in the clouds).

There is a difference between promoting and painting pets because of their personality.

Now think before you decide to save for that baby paint brush because is this what your pet wants? Is this what its personality is?

And the same with pound pets... what do you think evergreen, my Kougra sounds like? Evergreen seems like evergreen trees and evergreen trees seems like Christmas so she will be painted Christmas when I get the NP on that account. For painting pound pets I don't spend my personal money on my personal account. I paint them with the money I have in my pound account!

Well that concludes this article and the debate about promoting and personality. Thanks for taking to the time to read this because I think that this is what counts and to answer to people that say that it is promoting.

If you have more questions and/or debates, please Neomail me!
