In the Clutches of a Ghoul

It was a very nice day in Neopia so a brave Lupe named Nuke and a troublesome Wocky named Powerwocky wanted to have some fun . They decided to go out and train for the battle dome. They met up with all of their friends there and practiced battling and they got some major stat raises.

Later they went back to Neopia Central for a snack. They decided to go and sit down at the food store and have a hot dog. As they left the shop, the sound of a scream startled them . A petrified young Wocky came out of nowhere crying . Nuke and Powerwocky immediately got to his aid. "HELP!"

"What's wrong," they asked.

"I was in the woods playing with my friend and we heard someone following us. Then we heard this horrible laughing. We started to run . I got out but........................"

"We will find your friend .Don't worry," said Powerwocky.

"Where did you say this happened ?"

"In the............Haunted Woods," Nuke said bravely."

"We'll do the best we can. Go home to your owners. They might be worried."

Nuke and Powerwocky went out into the the fearful haunted woods. There were truly many scary things there, but they had no idea what they would soon be up against. "This place gives me the creeps" said Powerwocky. "I hope that kid is okay." A soft laughter filled the surroundings. "Probably just...the wind," said Nuke. There is nothing here to be afraid of." Something grabbed his shoulder. "AHH!!!!" He quickly turned around.

"Don't be alarmed young fella," said an old Techo. "I didn't mean to scare you, sorry. What are you two doing out here anyway. It's a very dangerous place in the deep woods, ya know." "

We know, sir, we were just lookin' for a kid that was lost out here."

The old Techo stared at them. "Well looky here...a couple of heroes. I don't think you should be worried. He has probably found his way back . Why don't you to just give up? You really should, ya know. He will turn up, so why don't you give yourself the insurance of yourselves making it back and turn around. I warn you, the Haunted Woods is very, very dangerous beyond this point."

"Okay, sir, we'll keep your advice in mind," said Nuke. "Good-bye."

As they left the forest the Techo yelled, "Be wise and never return to this forest again!!" The two pets returned to their homes and went to their room. "I don't feel right about this," said Powerwocky. "What if he was never found ? He could still be lost."

Nuke said, "I don't trust that guy either, but we couldn't go on beyond there while he was watching us. He would of easily spotted us. Tonight, we'll go out to the Haunted Woods and sneak past the old cabin. We'll see for ourselves whether or not that kid made it out or not."

At 11:00 PM, the two pets snuck out of their house and made their way to the Haunted Woods. They saw the old Techo's house had all of its lights out . "He must be asleep," said Powerwocky. "Looks like we'll be able to make it past, C'mon"

"Powerwocky, wait!!!!! Did you hear that ? It sounded like a scream." Just then, they saw someone running in the woods . It was the Little Quiggle!!! He was scared of something.

"Look, Nuke, it's the old Techo. He's chasing him."

"Hey, you! Stop chasing him!" The old Techo looked at them angrily.

"YOU! I thought I told you to stay away!" He started laughing. "You put yourselves in danger now."

Then, he started changing into a recognizable shape. The Swamp Ghoul! You're the.....the......" said Powerwocky. That's right . The Swamp Ghoul. He was just about to attack Powerwocky but Nuke jumped and saved him.

"RUN!!!" All three pets started toward Neopia Central. The Swamp Ghoul didn't bother to follow. As they left the forest, they heard the same laugh and they knew...it wasn't over....

They finally made it back to Neopian Central. "Hey what's the rush?" It was their friend Mortainius the Lenny. The pets said breathlessly, "Swa...Sw...Swamp Ghoul."

"The Swamp Ghoul?!" yelled Mortainius. Whoah, that sure is some story."

As they spoke, they saw a news report on at the TV store. It was the Swamp Ghoul himself. "Greetings citizens of Neopia. You've probably heard about me. I am the Swamp Ghoul. I challenge the pets of your world to a battle for all of Neopia. If I win against all of your strongest, I am the new king of your world. You have one hour. HAHAHAHAHA...."

The TV screen went blank. Nuke said, "We have to battle him, we have to try and save Neopia."

One hour later, the two courageous NeoPets went towards the Battledome. When they got there they knew the battle had begun. The strongest pets of Neopia laid helplessly on the floor, injured and beaten. One after another, the bravest pets were crushed by the Swamp Ghoul.

"I'm next !" Nuke called over to him.

"Ah...the pet from the forest. Are you ready to lose?"

They started the match right away. Nuke made quick blows but not quick enough. Nuke slashed at him, cutting in to his cape. "Nice try,"said the Ghoul. "But now it's my turn." The Swamp Ghoul made a hard blow into Nuke's side. It sent him flying out of the arena to Powerwocky's feet. The Swamp Ghoul laughed evilly. Powerwocky growled at him. Grrr. He jumped towards the arena . Powered by his rage, Powerwocky insisted on fighting him. The final battle for Neopia had begun.

Powerwocky was its last hope. They both moved quickly, Powerwocky making many small punches, but none big enough to beat the Swamp Ghoul. Just then, the Swamp Ghoul knocked him to his side. "HAHAHAHA!" Powerwocky wasn't willing to give up. He charged at him, crashing him down to the ground. Powerwocky had trapped him. The Swamp Ghoul gave up. "Hmm, you may have won this round, Wocky, but you have not heard the last of me. He vanished into a smoke of air and was never heard from again....
