What Is Your Price Standard?

by delkins

Do you own a shop? Many people, as you know, own a shop. I'm sure that two out of every three people own one. Not everyone does because it does cost 250 NP to open one up. But what I'm really going to talk about in this article is the pricing people use in their shops.

When you click on an item that is in your inventory, you will get and estimated value for it at the bottom of the window that comes up. Some people use that, although most don't because it is usually lower than what it is selling for normally.

Others use a little thing called the Shop Wizard. The Shop Wizard is a VERY helpful thing. I'm sure that almost everyone would be lost without it. I know I would. For those of you that have never used it, this is what it does. When you go to him, you can type in an item, (needs to be spelled correctly), and he will give you the lowest prices he can find for that item. Many people use this method when pricing because you can make a lot more NP off of it. The prices are usually much more than what the estimated value is. These prices are more only because of one thing--supply and demand.

Supply and demand. They are very powerful words in the world of business. Or in our case, virtual business. Supply and demand is very simple. The shop owners supply what the people demand most. This makes the value of everything go through the roof! If an item is being strongly demanded by the consumers, then the shopkeepers slowly and subtly raise the price of it because they know that the people will still buy it even if the price is a little higher. Most of us are chumps when it comes to this. We don't realize what we are getting into. Many people that were here when NeoPets started, remember when Faeries were only 50-100 NP. Wouldn't that be grand? Now, because of so much demand for them, they are up to any where from 1000-2000 NP! The price has majorly skyrocketed!

So, I will ask once again, "What is your price standard?"
