"There she is. The girl we saw yesterday. 'Member Ckakoo?? 'Member??"
LiLKyootie jumped up and down with delight.
"Don't be so hopeful. After all I'M older and I know more than you do."
Ckakoo said scornfully. She had a hopeful look in her eyes though. A small
crash startled them and they looked over at the open garage door. A new
load of NeoEggs arrived of all colours.
"Oooh! Look at the pretty red one with blue lightning bolts on it!!"
LiLKyootie squealed. "Stupid job. I only wanted to be a twuck dwiver and
I ended up at this junk." A blue Jubjub grumbled as he passed the twins'
cage. He carried the box of new NeoEggs to a table and drove off in his
ratty old truck.
"Ckakoo, do you think we'll ever leave this place? It's the only home
we ever had." LiLKyootie asked.
"No. Everyone had to have been born somehow. Like those eggs. Once an
egg is held in the hands of a loving person, they will hatch," Ckakoo
gazed off in space with tears in her eyes, "Like us. Someone didn't want
us or anyone here and… ditched us."
"Why would someone do that??" LiLKyootie sniffled but was interrupted
by noisy chatter and the door being opened.
"Are you sure you'd…" Ms. Worley pleaded.
"Yes. I'm sure," Ivy interrupted, carrying many objects such as an elegant
cage and food dishes.
"Ok…" Ms. Worley sighed and pulled out a rusty key. She walked toward
Ckakoo and LiLKyootie's cage. The twins' hearts missed a couple beats
at the exact same time. They both had the same thought; Was she really
coming to us?? Are we really going with our dream owner??
"All right you too lucky mongrels. I hate to tell you but you're leaving
me," Ms. Worley said sarcastically. The twins wiggled out of Ms. Worley's
arms and ran over to Ivy like a bolt of lightning. They jumped 'round
and 'round Ivy and shouted "We've got a hoooooommmmmmeeee. We've got a
hoooooommmmmmmeeee."

"So…how long were you two at the pound?" Ivy tried to brew up a conversation.
"Since our owner abandoned us." "Now who would abandon those cute faces?!?"
Ivy giggled. They were walking toward the new apartment they had rented
until they could afford their own house.
As they walked in front of the apartment building, the three knew it
was a great home. Ivy used up most of her Neopoints to pay for the luxuries
for Ckakoo and LiLKyootie and for the apartment.
"Ckakoo, this makes me feel all tingly inside," LiLKyootie squeaked.
"Yes," Ckakoo answered, "Yes."
"Um…Ckakoo? LiLKyootie? I forgot to tell you…" Ivy pulled out the Red
NeoEgg with blue lightning bolts on it out of her pack, "I got you a playmate.
I thought that it was so cute I just couldn't pass it!!" Ckakoo and LiLKyootie's
twin mouths dropped to the ground with a THUMP. WHAT?!?!?!?
"You haven't tried to hatch it have you? Like you haven't held it tight
and counted to three?" Ckakoo stammered.
"I wanted to tell you two before I did," answered Ivy. LiLKyootie squeaked
a little but walked over to the egg.
"At least it was the pretty one," LiLKyootie whispered and petted the
egg slightly.
"So what do you think?" Ivy asked.
"I say we get into our new place before we hatch it," grumbled Ckakoo.
The three walked up the stairs and arrived at room 356. Ivy fumbled with
the key and slid it into the door.
"I had men haul in our furniture last night. Called my aunt and she gave
me a loan," Ivy giggled as she looked at Ckakoo and LiLKyootie's faces,
"Now let's just sit here and figure out this egg."
After minutes studying the lightning egg, LiLKyootie discover that it
was starting to crack around the bottom.
"Something is holding it back from hatching," Ivy mumbled. She and LiLKyootie
looked up at Ckakoo, who looked away.
"I don't want another sister," grumbled Ckakoo.
"How do you know it's a girl?" LiLKyootie murmured.
"At the side there's a letter. Either F or M for Male or Female. I just
wanted it to be just us, Ivy," sniffled Ckakoo miserably.
Just then, the NeoEgg cracked more and more. A tiny red body peeked out
from the cracks and, slowly but surely, a new NeoPet was born.
To be continued...
