Don't Be Like Dora

by hylio

One windy morning, a girl, of about 12 years of age, was playing Gormball with all four of her NeoPets outside their cottage. The girl, whose name was Theodora, Dora for short, was getting more and more annoyed by the minute. My NeoPets are just not trying hard enough to play, she thought. But, her pets were trying hard enough. They were jumping and diving to catch the ball and then throw it again, but the wind was not helping them at all.

Finally, Dora just got too irritated. She caught the ball one final time and said, "Come on, you guys. We're going somewhere."

"Where?" asked Kenny, Dora's Peophin.

"You'll see," Dora grimly replied, tossing the ball inside her house.

"I bet I know where she is taking us," Hylio, Dora's Elephante replied, as grimly as Dora.

"Where, where?" asked Rera, Dora's optimistic Wocky.

"Oh, I know, too," Wadell, Dora's Blumaroo said," the Neopian Pound." Kenny and Rera gasped.

"Oh, no!" Kenny said, but by then, Dora was outside and beside her pets. "Come on, let's go," Dora said.

She began walking. All of her pets walked quietly behind her, finding nothing cheerful to say about this trip. Finally, they reached the Neopian Pound.

"Okay, in you go," Dora said, pushing each reluctant NeoPet in the door. She then walked up to the desk that said Abandon, which Ms. Worley was sitting behind.

"Ms. Worley, I want to abandon these NeoPets. How much?" asked Dora. Ms. Worley's eyes bugged out. No one abandoned four NeoPets at once!

"Ah, yes, I believe, 320 Neopoints," Ms. Worley said seriously, but also hiding a smile and rubbing her hands together.

No one ever had given this much to the Abandonment desk. Dora handed over 320 Neopoints and said," Take them." Then she left. Her former NeoPets frowned and Kenny nearly cried. "Okay, come on, pets," Ms. Worley said, pushing open a door that led to a dirty, smelly room that was to be the 4 NeoPets home for a while....

In about three months, when the four NeoPets had really had enough of the Neopian Pound, a very kind girl named Karen adopted all four. She could sense that they belonged together.

Epilogue:

Karen and her four new NeoPets lived happily ever after. Kenny, Hylio, Rera, and Wadell were very happy and never cared to remember their old owner. As for Dora, the week after she abandoned her four NeoPets, she created four more, and then abandoned them until she had had one of every NeoPet.

Finally, she was banned from Neopia. The whole point behind this story was just to say one thing: Do not be like Dora. Lots of poor NeoPets have been abandoned. And they all need homes. One thing to remember is, if you ever want a NeoPet, please consider searching the Neopian Pound for a perfect NeoPet for yourself before creating one.
