Tips for beginning Neopians and A Comment To The Poor/Rich Debate

by Tomminette

I am a middle class Neopian, at least I consider myself one. I have 5000 NP at the bank and this is increasing steadily, at a rate of 500 NP a day. How do I do this?

In the beginning, I had a tactic of surviving Neopia that worked fine, but had no future improvement prospects. What did I do? I would play the Codebreaker game once a day, during half an hour, to make myself about 1000 NP. Then, I would buy something expensive, like a codestone to pay for a training, or a faerie to get an ability. Then, when I would be poor again, I would go to the Soup kitchen, and get free food. One day, I realized this was getting me nowhere. So I started to put money in my bank account regularly, aiming for the 15,000 NP, that would allow me to get interest.

So, I put my Elephante on a diet, just giving him enough food to be 'not hungry', and buying him less toys and books. I agreed with myself to put 500 NP per day in the bank. How did I get this money? Well, I had opened a shop, but as it was a bookstore, it didn't get me a lot of money. And I was getting tired of the Codebreaker game, because it took up a lot of my Internet time every day (diminished to 30 minutes because my dad thought I spent way too much time on 'that NeoPets site'). I discovered a new game, that allowed you to get money in a short time: Kiko Match. The trick at this game is to send the score only when you have 120 points, or more, because then your score doubles. You get NP only for three games, but still, that gives you 120*2*3, 720 NP.

Putting 500 NP per day in the bank, I still had then enough money to buy Trompetter, my pet, some food. As you see, getting some money in a short time is easy, and if poor people are poor, it's their own fault. A last tip: don't take more than one pet in the beginning. One is going to cost you enough money.

Now, about the poor/rich discussion about prizes. I think the poor shouldn't complain. If the prizes for faeries are this high, it's that there are enough people who are prepared to pay that much for them. It's just the law of offer and demand at work, like it is in every capitalistic society. I don't understand the value that is given to items. The true value of an item is the prize that allows the seller to gain the most money, assuming he has an endless supply of it. It's simple, if the items are too cheap, he isn't going to make much money, but if the items are too expensive, few people will buy items, and the seller isn't going to make a lot of money either. Usually, the price that the items are sold at in the end is the price this item is considered being worth. NeoPets is capitalistic. It's not a communistic society where the 'state' decides of the value and the price of items. And that's a good thing. Because communism never worked out.
