I don't know how long you've been a Neopian but I've
been here a little over a year and I've seen my fair share of Neopian
shops. One thing that almost all the shops have in common is some sort
of HTML. Whether it be coloured lettering or music and backgrounds, almost
all of the shops have it. It's great to see people using their HTML knowledge
to make there shops look good (if you don't have this HTML knowledge you
can find the link to it on the NeoPets help page).
All this HTML is great, usually. But, I have found times
that all the HTML in a persons shop is just too much. It looks great but,
well, not all computers can handle it. My computer finds some of the shops
too hard to load and so it shuts down explorer on me! Well, that just isn't
any fun - having to restart it and get logged back into NeoPets and all
that stuff. My friend's computer freezes up, you have to totally restart
the computer and that, my friend, just sucks!
So, you see, if we can't get into your shops because
our computers can't handle the HTML then you're losing money. All that
time and effort you put into finding the items that people want, putting
them in your shop, pricing them and then updating those prices is a loss.
Not to mention all the time and effort you put into making your shop look
good and then most people can't even see it. Now, I'm sure that there
are a lot of people with great computers, top of the line kinds, but I'm
sure there are also, most likely, a greater number of people who have
computers that are just a little older and out of date. It's these computers
that can't handle it!
Some suggestions: Tone down the HTML just a little. If
you really like to do all of the HTML stuff, get a Web page from some
place like Geocities or something of that matter. You can put your NeoPets
up on there and put the link in your shop. Then those people who want
to see all of your great HTML work can see it while those of us who really
would rather not, don't have too.
Don't get me wrong, I think HTML is great but only in
small amounts. Have fun with it but think about us poor Neopians who have
old computers. If that doesn't work for you, then think about the money
you could be losing! Cha-ching!
