Krattu

Once, hundreds upon thousands of years before Neopia, while all the NeoPets were still on their own planets, lived a species-far different from any other NeoPet, so beautiful, they were indescribable. But the best anyone can describe them is with rainbow, fluorescent shining wings, slender and graceful as the wind, but as wise as a Faerie. These were the Krattu, a band of birdlike creatures. They had their own Kings and Queens, their own magical ways, and this story is about the last ruler, and the fall of the Krattus.

In the misty town of Shcekmib (now known as Haunted Woods), in the year of 1324, lived the rulers of all the Krattus. They're King, Mahib, a golden Krattu,and their Queen, Rabaka, who was a Silver Krattu, were troubled.

"I see many lights hitting the Neopia, Rabaka," said King Mahib to her, "And I know there are living things in them. This troubles me."

"I see them, and I can hear strange noises at night," she replied in their ancient language. What could it-" But she was cut off by her servant, Habir, a faithful blue Krattu.

"Your-Your highness- there-th-there's trouble! A giant creature is destroying the city of Nargiser, and are heading our way! They are coming to destroy us!" He cried finally after taking many long breaths.

"Send for King Shakbir from Nargiser, and tell him to bring all the Krattu soldiers he can! We are going to stop these creatures!" Queen Rabaka ordered sternly. Mahib looked at her crossly. "I know what I am doing," she said to him, seeing his look.

The next day, 5,000 multicolored Krattus of all sizes dressed in armour arrived. "Your highness, I am Trodbar, captain of the Nargisian City. We have come by your request."

"Good," said Mahib, still troubled his wife gave the commands,"We have a feast waiting for you in our Great Hall, come and join us!"

Soon when they were all feasting, another force came to the palace. Habir came in, looking nervous, but calm, said to the Queen in a whisper "They're here." Thus began the battle of the Krattus.

When 20,000 Krattus were in full armor, they flew outside (They flew instead of walked places) to meet their Enemy, Mahib in command, Rabaka at his side. They saw many ugly creatures, most were tall, dark, and strong. Some were carrying swords, other were carrying torches, other bow and arrow. Their leader, the tallest of them all, looked at the Krattus and laughed.

"These weak birds will be an easy task for us to finish off!" he called to his army.

"Who are you?" King Mahib said in a kingly voice to their leader.

"Me? You're asking who I am? What should it matter, you are all going to die anyway!" he replied in a hissing, but taunting voice.

"I asked you your name, creature," Mahib said, now growing angrier. When Krattus became angry (Which was seldom) They grew a foot taller, and their eyes turned into flame.

"All right then, if you have to know, I am Captain Slothiger, of the planet Grenkith. I seek power in this land, and here I am starting. Who we don't kill will be slaves," Captain Slothiger replied. He then hissed something to his army and they all hissed back at him in their language.

Now all the Krattus were angry, and they were twice the size they were to begin with. Their wings began flaming, although they could still fly. Their eyes were fiery, and when they spoke, fire came from their talons.

"We will never become your slaves CHARGE!" Rabaka cried in anger, thus beginning the war. For days they fought, and for days they were being lessened, no matter how many allies came for their help. Soon, two months had passed, and the Krattus knew they would have to leave, in order to live free.

"Where shall we go?" Rabaka said to her husband. "We shall go see the Faerie Queen, there she will take us away to another place, where we can live in peace," he replied sadly.

A few days later, he took his 2000 remaining soldiers, and plus the female Krattus and their children secretly to the Faerie Queens palace. It was a long fly, and they savoured every moment on Planet Neopia When they reached the palace of the Queen, all the faeries looked at each other, seeing the Krattus all battered, and cut, and scarred--they looked very disgraceful. The Faerie Queen herself walked out of her palace in shock.

"Mahib? Rabaka? what has happened?" she exclaimed, never before seeing the beautiful Krattus all ragged looking.

"We must go away-from this planet if we are to survive," Rabaka told her.

"What has happened that this would happen?" she asked sadly.

After King Mahib told the story of all that had happened, he looked upon the Faerie Queen, who was now in tears.

"I will take you to the planet Zakabig, where all creatures live in peace. I will also send all my forces against these evil creatures," she said.

Soon, all the Uber Faeries gathered in a circle, and shot out a large light that shot around the Krattus.

"Farewell my friends, return to us one day," the Queen said bravely, forcing back tears.

"I will return, and thrice as many of our kind. Farewell!" Mahib said to her, then looked around at Neopia, and then they all disappeared, being taken away to the planet Zakabig, until they would return.

Their cousins, the Eyries, were all that was left of these magnificent creatures, and they vaguely remember how their ancestors lived. The Krattus will return one day, and until then they live in peace on their Planet.
