"Mommy, mommy come quick! I found a big ice worm in this
cave! MOMMY!" We were on Terror Mountain. I was still young then, and
I didn't know what the Snowager was. Oh, sorry, forgot my manners. Let
me introduce myself. My name is Pinty5. I am a red Cybunny, and my owner
adopted me from the Pound. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah... For a
treat, Mommy had taken me out for the day. I needn't tell you where we'd
gone. As she came running at my shout, along with my sisters Kellew the
red Aisha and Golden_Gem_2000, I called out again. "MOMMY!!!!!!!!"
"All right, all right, I'm here! What have you found?"
"I found a big ice worm in a cave. It was guarding lotsa
treasure."
"Oh, THAT," said Golden_Gem. "That's called the Snowager."
"Okay, but I'm not coming, I have to get you some food."
"Oh, thanks, we'll bring you back some TREASURE!!" called
out Kellew and we ran away, Gemmy flying slowly overhead.
"Hey, hey, wait for me!" It was Swirly_2001, our baby
sister. She's a yellow Gelert and right then she'd only just learned to
talk. "Oh, you go see ice worm. Me not come with ya. Me scared of ice
worm, so me stay with Mommy." She disappeared.
"Come on, let's go," called Gemmy from above. We ran
faster so she flew quicker. At last we entered the Snowager's cave.
"I'll go in first," whispered Gemmy. She flew silently
around the creature. It didn't move. She came closer. Nothing. Gently,
she allowed a wingtip to brush the icy muzzle...no move.
She flew back to us and said, "It's okay...come on in!"
We were really happy to go. It was FREEZING outside.
It was really dark in there though - all right for Gemmy with her Night
Vision, but not for me and Kellew. I solved that one with my Magic Torch
ability. We looked around and gasped.
Treasure...
Great, huge, glistening mounds of treasure. Neggs, Sneggs,
Codestones, Supernovas, trapped Faeries crying to be set free. Every rare
or precious item in Neopia, it seemed, was underneath that giant worm
of ice. Quietly, ever so quietly, we shook some treasure into a bag when...the
Snowager moved.
No mistaking it. It moved. Quick as a flash we were all
in fighting stance with Gemmy in front. I may not have mentioned this
but that Shoyru is really brave. Also she is the strongest out of us,
so maybe that has something to do with it. Slowly, the Snowager swung
its head round to us and opened its eyes. Next thing there was a low,
hissing voice...
"Ssssssssssssssstrangers! Intruders! Do I sssseeee right?
Yessssssss! They must pay!!!!" Too late to run. Gemmy used her Spark attack,
striking lightning bolts off the icy neck. Uh oh. She was in real trouble.
I ran forward and held my Magic Torch underneath the Snowager's body.
There were hisses of pain and I thought it would be okay but then-
"Ssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!" The Snowager's eyes gleamed
red with blood as it turned to me. Caught by surprise, I found myself
staring into them, two gleaming balls of magic and bloodlust. Sick with
dread, unable to move, I stood paralysed by the glare, dropped to the
ground and knew nothing more.
Right. Well, when I saw Pinty unconscious, hypnotized
by the Snowager, that did it for me. I flew forward, shouting out, "Hey,
icebelly, you have hypnosis? Then hypnotise someone your own size!" Okay,
I wasn't exactly that right size to do the job, but I was as high, anyway.
Using my Psychic blast, I confused it, and when it came to believe me
it was terrified! It hissed out dazedly:
"Sssssszz. How can a creature your size look ssssoooo
frightening?" I didn't know what to do then. Then I thought. I didn't
have Psychic, but I'd used it. Weird. No time to think. I realised that
for now I could use any ability. I grabbed Pinty's Magic Torch and flew
to and fro with it, to attract the snow worm's attention. Then I used
Fiery Gaze. Still dazed, the weak-minded thing sank to the floor and began
snoozing heavily. I commanded it not to wake up until one hour after we'd
left. Then I nicked a bottle of Faerie's Tear and used it to revive Pinty,
grabbed another, drank it myself. Then we finished gathering treasure
until we'd gathered about 10,000 NP and loads of rare items to sell, and
loads of Neggs and Faeries and Battledome items. I even grabbed some normal
food, save my owner some hard-earned Neopoints for a change. Then we ran
for it. My owner was soooo pleased. We're pretty well off now, but maybe
I won't try that again until the Snowager has conveniently forgotten we
exist. (And that's all I remember, officer).
