And Then You Were Rich

by featheryserpent

You thought it would never happen. You scrimped, you saved, you played the games, signed up for every sponsor you could, managed to get your shop bringing in a profit. Finally you're there, you're rich and suddenly without gaining Neopoints to focus on you think to yourself, what next?

There's lots of articles on what you do to climb that steep cliff towards wealth, but once you're there you can be suddenly left feeling empty. So what do you do when the glitter of earning Neopoints has finally lost its appeal, when your pets are all well fed and as happy as they could be, wanting for nothing.

Here's some of my suggestions to stop you losing interest and abandoning your NeoPets. Remember that some of them will have you sliding back down to poverty in no time if you don't continue trying to earn NP's.

Battledome: Spend all that hard earned cash on seeing if you can make your pets the best battle pets ever, watch it trickle down the drain as you spend codestone after codestone training them up to satisfactory levels. If you don't want to battle fellow Neopians there's also the one player version. Find and defeat all the challengers.

Collections: Show off your wealth to the rest of Neopia, turn your shop into a gallery and begin collecting as many items as you can. You can specialise at first, set yourself a goal, such as all the pets pets, or all food items. Begin the hunt trying to hunt down every single item you need to fill your collection at bargain prices. Or you could even specialise in just the one item, like seeing how many hundreds of yellow Fuzzles you can find.

Guild (member): Guild's are about far more than helping you whilst you are poor. This is a group of people that are always going to be there for you if you find the right group. I'm a member of the walk_with_wockys guild and they helped me when times were tough so now I'm doing what I can to help them in return. You can donate items to a guild, collect food for the other members, offer to buy medicine or help with quests, try to recruit members by posting on the appropriate message boards and asking your friends, answer questions on the guild board, offer suggestions for the leader on ways to improve the guild. Of course there's that ultimate goal to rise within the ranks and one day be a council member yourself if you really want to.

Guild (own): Guild's are a great way to meet others on NeoPets, if you've reached the point of being wealthy then you have so much to give back to Neopia. Some people don't feel that they can do enough in another guild, so why not create your own? Dedicate your time to finding interesting ways to draw in members, try to find a way to make your guild stand out from the others and to be the best one in Neopia.

Help Others: Sit around the help message boards and in no time there'll be a million pleas for help. You have the power. You can assist. Just be careful to watch you avoid the scammers. You can also help by buying lots of one item and selling it at a loss in your shop, giving people a chance to buy food or other items cheaply. There's also the money tree to donate to.

High Scores: With all those games see if you can get a high score and thus a trophy in all of them. It will take a lot of time and practice but it's another goal to set your eyes on and watch your bank balance grow as you do it.

NeoHome: Create the biggest, most beautiful mansion for your pets, furnish it with every piece of furniture your heart could desire and watch your bank balance quiver as you do so.

Trading Cards: Technically collecting things, still the NeoDeck promises to be even better in the future, who knows we might even be able to play games with it. Make a gallery of the prettiest pictures, find all the cards of one type (like wockys as I have tried) scream with frustration as you can't bear to part with the hundreds of thousands people insist on charging for the unbuyables.
