Early, the next morning, I set the note on my bed. I
grabbed my backpack and climbed out the window. I took my bike out of
the shed and headed to Flowal's house.
Once there, I knocked on the door and she answered. "Why
do you need a tent?"
I looked at her like it was obvious why. "I'm going camping. My brother
and sisters have been driving me nuts and I need to get away."
She handed me the tent in a box and I put it in my backpack. "Do you
want to come along?" I asked.
"I can't, I don't know when my wedding will be and I can't be on the
other side of Neopia when it is." Flowal looked sad.
"Oh, OK. Well I'll see you later." I hopped back on my bike and started
to ride away. I heard a thud before I had even left Flowal's yard. I looked
back and Flowal had a yellow snow all over her.
"That does it!" she screamed. "Elleni, I'm coming with you."

A little while later, we were off, Flowal had got on her bike and we
started towards the Neopian camping ground. The sun was just started to
rise and it looked like it would be a good day.
"Do you have a phone?" Flowal asked.
"No, I don't. Why?"
"I wanted to call Serge and tell him where I'd be," she said, sounding
sad.
"You can write him a note and slip it in his mailbox." I didn't want
her to be unhappy.
"Okay!" Flowal smiled and we stopped at Serge's house. She wrote a quick
note and we headed for the camping ground. We parked our bikes at the
bike rack and headed into the forest.
The Neopian Ground consists of quite a few miles of dense forest. Most
of which has been explored. Some areas farther from the entrance to the
camp ground haven't been explored. I've only been here once with Lynx.
A few minutes into the camp ground, Flowal said, "Maybe I should have
left Joey a note."
"Don't worry about it. I left Lynx a note and if Joey calls her, she'll
know where we are." I didn't tell her that I didn't say where I'd be in
the note.
We quietly walked on. You could hear groups of campers laughing and singing
songs. My stomach started to growl, so we took off our backpacks and sat
down to eat lunch. I pulled my lunch box out and handed Flowal a sandwich
and a bottle of water, I took one of each for myself too.
I sat down on a near by rock and started eating. Neither of us realised
how hungry we were. We hadn't ate all day and it was early afternoon.
"It's a pretty day," I said "Not hot, not cold, just right."
Flowal agreed. She didn't talk much, I figured she was thinking about
Serge, her boyfriend. We finished our sandwiches and strapped on our backpacks
and started walking again.
I didn't know exactly where we were gonna go in this camp ground or what
we'd find, I just wanted to get away and take a break from siblings.
After walking for awhile, I realised I was in a part of the Camp Ground
that I had never seen. Neither had most people because there was no trail
that had been left behind. As I walked on I started to hear the rush of
water and figured their might be a stream near by. I pushed back some
of the bushes and stopped abruptly because before me was a very steep
cliff.
Before I could see what was below, Flowal must have not noticed that
I had stopped and she ran into knocking me off balance and I fell.
"Elleni, you OK?" She asked peering over the cliff.
"Yeah," I said, catching my self with my wings and I flew back up to
where Flowal was. I got a good look at my surroundings. Below us was a
lake encircled by a rocky cliff and a water fall flowing down to the right
of us. It was beautiful. You could see the sun setting through a break
in the cliff that let water in from the ocean. It was a place that obviously
not too many people had seen.
Flowal went to gather some wood so we could have a camp fire. I brought
some marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. When she came back,
I lit the fire and we started telling scary stories and ate smores.
I told her about the thing that gets campers and lost pets in their sleep.
This thing doesn't have a name and you can't see it in the dark. The Thing
that lives of pets' fear and waits till their good and scared to attack.
When I telling Flowal about the young Usul that was lost and about to
be attacked by the thing I scared her so much that she jumped and almost
screamed.
Once it got dark we put out the fire and crawled in the tent and got
into our sleeping bags to go to sleep. It was so quiet except for the
crickets. I was almost asleep when I heard a twig snap.
"Flowal, did you hear that?" I whispered. She groaned and continued
to sleep. I sat up and peeked out the tent. I couldn't see anything. I
told myself its the woods do you expect not to hear twigs snap in the
middle of the night with all the animals that are awake at night and finally
fell asleep. It was probably just a wild Miamouse. It couldn't have been
the thing could it? That was only a story that Lynx made up, right?
To be continued...
