Desire to Fight

"I hate you! Why can't I go and play in the Battledome like all the other pets?" Darling screamed at his owner Adeline then ran out of his house, crying sadly at the same time.

"Darling, come back! Come back please..." Adeline looked at her beloved pet running away across the street of Faerieland. She knew it would be pointless in chasing for him as Darling had ran so quickly that he had disappeared among the clouds of Faerieland.

There had always been disagreement among Darling the Striped Uni and his owner Adeline regarding playing in the Battledome. Darling had always been Adeline's favourite pet. Adeline loves him so much and she would not let anyone to hurt Darling; therefore Darling was not allowed to play in the Battledome. However, being a young ambitious Uni, Darling admired those pets that could fight well in the Battledome, he thought they were so brave and heroic. He wanted to fight in the Battledome and he thought his owner was very cruel, strict and unreasonable not to allow him to play in there.

It was getting dark in Neopia and Darling had not returned home yet, everyone was worried about him, especially Adeline.

"What can I do? I don't want him to get hurt. How can I explain to him so that he will understand?" Adeline was weeping sadly, asking Sunshine the Faerie Poogle, what she should do.

"Don't worry too much, my dear owner. I"m sure brother will come back very soon." Sunshine is Darling"s younger sister as well as his best friend. She tried to comfort Adeline, although she was quite worried about her brother deep in her heart.

It was after midnight and there were no signs of Darling returning home. Adeline had been waiting for him in the lounge of their NeoHome for the whole day and was exhausted, drifting into a deep sleep on the sofa.

"How can Darling be so inconsiderate? I"ve never seen Adeline getting so upset. I think I should go and look for him now." Knowing that Adeline would not allow her to go alone to search for Darling, Sunshine packed some basic necessities for her forthcoming journey and crept quietly to the door, making as little noise as possible to prevent waking Adeline up.

Sunshine remembered that Darling had always wanted to visit the training school in Mystery Island, as he aspired to be a stronger pet to fight in the Battledome. Therefore, after leaving her home in Faerieland, Sunshine was heading straight to the Mystery Island.

After traveling for a whole night, Sunshine arrived in the Mystery Island in the morning. She was very tired and sat under a palm tree, by the seaside to take a rest. As Sunshine was admiring the glittery sea and the rising sun across the horizon, she heard some very strange noises coming out from the jungle behind her. She stood up and peeped through the palm leaves hoping to see the source of the strange noises, however, the crops were densely grown across the jungle therefore it was too dark for Sunshine to see anything. As she turned back and planned to make her way to the training school, the sight of 3 strange creatures pointing their spears towards her shocked her immensely.

"Oh no! They must be the Cocos, the legendary Pango"s tribesmen, who don't have mercy towards unknown visitors!" Sunshine was very frightened, she tried to show them that she was a friendly visitor but they didn't seem to understand. The Cocos looked very angry and approached closer and closer towards her.

"Go away! Go away! I"m harmless to you, please don't hurt me." Sunshine screamed and pleaded to the Cocos, but it was hopeless. As they tried to tie Sunshine up and take her away, a sharp piece of Volcano crystal was thrown towards one of the Cocos, it was a very strong throw and the Coco was knocked down instantly.

The 2 remaining Cocos were startled and walked away from Sunshine, looking for their attacker. Suddenly, a white figure emerged from the darkness of the Jungle.

" Darling! I"m so glad to see you! Please save me!" Sunshine was so surprised by the appearance of her brother Darling, and was relieved at the same time.

Darling picked up the Volcano crystal and thrown it to the two remaining Cocos; followed by a powerful Uni slap against them. The Cocos were very frightened and ran quickly, disappearing into the dark mysterious Jungle.

"Thank you so much, you are so brave brother! I"ve never seen you fight before. However, you really should return to our home as Adeline was greatly saddened by your sudden departure." Sunshine was in tears, hoping that Darling would return to their home in Faerieland as soon as possible.

"I"m really sorry. I shouldn't have run away for so long. Let's go back to Faerieland now." Darling told Sunshine that he had missed his family so much since he left home, he also told her that he had been to the training school and talked to the Techo Master. The Techo Master guided Darling and told him that running away and disobedience would not help him to gain trust and faith from his owner. Darling realised he had misunderstood his owner, Adeline completely and felt very guilty towards her.

As they arrived in Faerieland, Adeline was standing in front of their home, completely distressed, crying with two red, tired eyes. She was overjoyed when she saw Darling and Sunshine and ran immediately to hug both of them dearly in her arms.

"Please forgive me Adeline. I will never do this again. I missed you so much." Darling felt the care and love from his owner and was so glad to be home. As Sunshine told Adeline about how Darling had rescued her from the Cocos in Mystery Island, Adeline went quiet for a while in deep thoughts, then she said gently to Darling, "It was not your fault entirely. I had been too protective towards you before. Now that I know you are completely capable in fighting and playing in the Battledome, I"ll take you to the training school to make you a stronger pet in preparation for fights in the Battledome."

"Thank you so much Adeline! You are the best owner in Neopia!" Darling was overjoyed as he jumped and gave Adeline a big hug.

"You two must be so tired and hungry after two days of restlessness. I"ve prepared a flaming fire Faerie Pizza to celebrate this wonderful day!" Adeline led Sunshine and Darling happily into the dinning room as she listened to the fascinating stories of their adventures in Mystery Island from her two beloved pets.
