Foreword from the author C. Chesterpot
I hope you enjoy this third volume from Faerie Books
Inc. This is sure to teach even more than you ever knew about the Earth
Faeries. This is sure to absorb and delight all types of readers of all
ages. Once the winner of the Churros book award, and another time the
winner of the Golden Apple award, it has been at the top of the bestseller
list for 3 consecutive weeks. It is guaranteed to bring out the Earth
Faerie lover in you! It has also been voted by the Neopian Times as "a
most astounding read on one of Neopia's best loved Faeries!"
Of course, being another one of the most expensive and
sought for books on the market, Faerie Books Inc. was anxious to have
me translate yet another one of the Faerie series. As if I hadn't had
enough from the last one! I decided to take a more docile and err... gentle
Faerie this time. So once again I was pouring over ancient scrolls and
wandering around the world in search for information on the earthly Earth Faerie. I hope you treasure this book for many years to come.
Chapter 1: Where they live
The Uber Earth Faerie is quite a sociable Faerie and
loves to be near other Faeries and the action. She has, like most of the
Faeries a home in the clouds above Faerieland. From there she can watch
all that goes on in the world of Neopia and still be near her friends.
She spends most of her time up in Faerieland because, according to her,
Faerieland is the best place for a Faerie to live since there is so much
to see and do without having her privacy taken away. She can sometimes
be found near some of the wonders of nature such as waterfalls or in beautiful
woods.
The small Earth Faeries are most commonly found in flowers
and tall grass. They love hiding in trees, flowers and bushes where they
find themselves close to the earth and the many growing things. Watch
for them next time you go picking flowers in a large field or wander through
the woods, if you have quick eyes you may be lucky enough to spot one
flying away.
Chapter 2: The likes and dislikes of an Earth Faerie
Not as picky and quick to anger like her cousin, the
Earth Faerie is quite agreeable. She loves to help good creatures out
and has been known to often come to a poor creature's aid when needed.
She loves to see pets do good deeds towards all living things and will
willingly reward them if she finds them to have been generous and good
towards the plants and others.
She dearly loves the many pets of Neopia but she has
a definite place in her heart for Chias, Blumaroos and Meercas. Any pet
painted Rainbow, Disco or her favourite, Strawberry Fields Forever is said
to be protected by the Earth Faerie and in her favor.
The Earth Faerie is very fond of gourmet foods. She is
especially fond of Faerie Pancakes, Neggs and other delicious foods. She
is an avid gourmet cook and cooking rare delicacies is one of her favourite
pastimes. She also likes giving out food in quests, since shouldn't all
worthy pets enjoy a rich meal?
She also adores magic items and is always making plenty
of potions. She is always sending pets out to get the magic items she
needs since she is too lazy, or too busy (as she says) to get them herself.
She likes taking long nature walks or visiting exotic
wonders of the natural world. She also likes to occasionally watch Battledome
matches. She had recently agreed to join in the fight at the Battledome
and let pets challenge her from all over Neopia.
Chapter 3: Character
The Uber Earth Faerie has a very deep and profound character.
She is fond of peace and equality for all creatures. She is very passionate
and profoundly protective of the things she loves or protects. She is
kind to all creatures and very gentle. She knows a lot about healing plants
and will gladly give you a strange herb to heal with. She is one of the
most understanding and nice Faeries you can meet and you'd come off meeting
her feeling very pleased. She is one of the most generous Faeries, when
she wants to be! She will richly reward a pet for even small little deeds.
The Earth Faerie is also very sociable. She spends most
of her time with the other Faeries so she can be up on the gossip and
hang around with her friends. Though she gets along well with most of
the other Faeries, she does very rarely get along with the Fire Faerie
(perhaps this is because the fire Faerie is continuously burning her flowers,
trees and grass). She likes all pets and owners who are kind, loving and
care for others.
She does not get mad, but if she does it is usually very
rarely. This is a very good thing for she can cause quite a bit of damaged
when aroused. Earthquakes are one of her specialties and has even been
accused of the earthquake that shook the Ice Caves not too long a go.
It is rumored that she and the Winter Faerie had a dispute some time ago
which may hay resulted in the accidental discovery of Tyrannia.
The small, common Earth Faeries are in some areas easy
to catch since they love to wander into the city to visit the sights and
meet new people, resulting in their capture. Though they may contain some
resentment at being kept in a jar, they usually bless the kind pet that
lets them out.
Chapter 4: History
The Earth Faerie is said to have been around for ages.
It is even believed that she was one of the very first Faeries to enter
Neopia a long time ago. Early tribes of pets worshipped her and recognized
her power and kindness. Early cavepet pictures in various caves depict
her as a healer and a friend. Peaceful loving pets such as the Chia and
Blumaroo were some of the earliest tribes to worship her. It was she who
is said to have brought much peace to their tribes in times of war or
dispute.
She is also known and said that it is she who brings
good harvest each year to all crops. When a crop fails, the early pets
were quick in sending many large offerings to appease the Earth Faeries
wrath so that they may have better luck with their crops. The early pets
were always careful to worship her properly so that they may have a good
harvest that year. The midsummer festival is famous among many pets for
the large offerings donated to the Earth Faerie.
Chapter 5: Flying Skills
Just like the other Faeries, the Earth Faerie has many
special flying skills. Quick on her feet and possessing high agility in
the air, she is a hard one to hit. I have seen many try and fail hitting
her even with some of the most powerful weapons. A tricky one to battle
since even if you have enough luck to hit her it causes very little damage
perhaps due to the fact that she moves so fast that it only grazes her.
Like all Faeries, she has her own special moves that
she uses in her various attacks. Ever heard the phrase "Flower Power?"
Well you're gonna find out why.
The Earth Faerie's sneakiest move and guaranteed to leave
an opponent stunned is the Flowery Wreath Confuso Supremo attack. With
her amazing powers, the Earth Faerie can with very little effort make
many little flowers appear in her hand. She then lets the flowers dangle
in midair as she gathers more and more flowers and begins spinning them
together in the air. The pattern resembles a bike wheel or wreath (as
in the name) and spins faster and faster in the air seeming to do so all
by itself. Finally when it becomes nothing but a blur to the very naïve
attacker who is probably feeling quite confused at the moment, the Earth Faerie lets out her weapon. It spins down towards her opponent nothing
more than a speeding blur, and careens head on into the misfortunate opponent,
knocking him off his feet and into a daze. Flower Power man! (Who ever
said flowers are weak!)
Her next flying specialty is her Head Diving attack.
This one is fairly simple, and it seems rather obvious to me (but who
am I to talk, I've never dared to go up and fight the Faerie so how would
I know what the poor opponent is facing!). This move is mostly for ground
attacks since the Earth Faerie is not one to do many flying attacks. She
simply gathers speed either by spinning on the spot, or if she has enough
room, taking a running start till she is good and speedy. Then she advances
towards her opponent keeping her speed all the while, it looks as is she
were going to crash headfirst into her enemy but at the last second simply
jumps up into the air. Then while the poor opponent is still trying to
figure out where she has gone she comes crashing down straight on their
head. Feet first she comes down on them with all her strength, speed and
wait causing all enemies to simply drop down, for the most of them unconscious.
Chapter 6: Inventions
It seems there is a competition among the Faeries to
have the most things named or invented in your honor as the many Faeries
proudly demonstrate.
The Earth Faerie is also said to have given the strange
inventor the idea for the earth potion, perhaps just to anger the fire
Faerie.
She is the inventor of the Strawberry Fields Forever
paintbrush and the Rainbow paintbrush as well as the Disco Fever Paint
Brush. She loves paintbrushes whom are, in her words, "bright and expressionable.
That's why my paint brushes are so bright and cheery, soft and wild. They
express the peace and love of a pet. It gives me great pleasure to see
pets wandering around in some fashionable colours that really states that
they love peace and the earth itself."
She is the inventor and grower of Neopia's best healing
mushrooms. She has created and planted most of the different mushrooms
you will find around the world. She also supplies the light Faerie with
mushrooms to give out at the healing springs. She invents many new gourmet
food recipes all the time, slightly tamer than the meals the Fire Faerie
has been known to enjoy so you can rest easy when it comes to the Earth Faeries meals. No fear of stomach flu, burns or other disagreeable effects
known to come from some Faeries!
She is also the proud inventor of the game Earth Faerie
Aces, named after her of course! It was said that one day she was bored
and slightly out of the blue came up with a wild new game, which got the
interest of all the other Faeries and was opened to the public with the
arrival of Faerieland. Her last invention, dedicated to all nature loving
pets and owners who want to stay in shape is Yoga. Guaranteed to put a
creature at ease and find spirituality with the Earth. It is said the
Earth Faerie does Yoga every morning when she wakes up.
