Dark's Pendant by samerraa
--------
Dark, a young shadow Lupe, looked at her pendant. The pendant
was made from pure gold and it was shaped to look like a mountain. She treasured
it. It was about a year ago when Dark had come upon the item...
***
It was a nice and sunny day on the shores of
Mystery Island. The wind was nice and cool. The waves flowed like a sea of Lenny's
flying in a group. From far away you could hear little Neopets playing in the
water.
Dark walked on the sandy beach of Mystery Island.
She was on "holiday" and wanted to be free. The young Lupess was hoping to find
something to take home with her so she could remember her trip.
Dark laid in the nice cool sand and smiled. She
had to admit this was her best vacation ever! She started to dig a hole, when
she got to a certain point, she was going to fill it up with water. But instead
found a medium sized pendant buried in the sand. She brushed the sand off of
it and placed it around her neck . . .
***
Dark gently put her pendant inside a box and
hid the box under a loose floor board in her bedroom. Then she went downstairs.
As she stepped into the kitchen, she found her brother Torrin making dinner.
She wound up taking a quick glance and whiff of what he was making. It looked
like he was making turkey dinners. The silver Wocky usually doesn't make turkey
dinners unless it's Thanksgiving or Christmas, or if something good happened.
Dark was starting to get hungry. So she grabbed a sandwich out of the fridge.
Dark walked into the living room and plopped herself on the couch. She ate her
sandwich and opened up a book. The book was getting boring so she closed the
book and it vanished.
"Torrin! I'm going outside! Call me in for dinner!"
Dark shouted and ran out the door.
Dark walked on the smooth road over to her friend
Cecelia's House. Cecelia was a small brown Cybunny with soft fur. She knocked
on the door. Cece opened the door and smiled.
"Hi Dark! Come in!" Cece motioned. Dark didn't
walk in though.
"I need to talk to you. Lets go to our secret
spot in my backyard," Dark suggested. Cece closed the door and the two headed
over to Dark's backyard. She pushed a big bush aside and had Cece go through
a small door that was hidden behind the bush. Then Dark went in. Inside had
papers with "BFF" written on them. A long time ago Dark and Cece had secretly
built a club house in Dark's backyard. The two Neopets sat in two beanbag chairs
and Dark started to talk.
"You know when I went to Mystery Island about
a year ago . . . ?" Dark asked.
"Yeah. And you couldn't take me with you," Cece
answered.
"Well, I found a medium sized pendant that was
shaped into a mountain in the sand. I haven't told anyone until now. Please
keep it a secret. I'll rush into my room and get it, so you can see it!" Dark
said. Cece nodded and let Dark get the pendant.
Dark quietly sneaked into her room and grabbed
the box under the loose floor board in her room. Then she quickly ran to the
club house. Dark went in and gave Cece the box. The Cybunny opened the box and
got attached to the item inside. Cece just kept staring at it. She wouldn't
take her eyes off of it. Dark started to get worried, so she grabbed the box
from Cece.
"Hey! Why did you do that?" Cece snapped.
"You were staring at it! And I was getting worried!
I don't want you to get too attached. Or you may steal it from me!" Dark yelled.
The Lupess was getting really angry.
"Oh! Well maybe we shouldn't be friends any more!"
Cece growled. The Cybunny opened the door and slammed it behind her. Dark was
not to happy with Cece. She went inside her home to eat.
"Dark, are you okay?" Torrin asked his sister
as she walked in. Dark just ignored him and sat in a chair.
"Hey! I asked you a question!" Torrin said.
"I'm fine!" Dark snapped. She was really asking
for a punishment. Torrin got really mad and sent her to her room. Dark ran into
her room and jumped on her bed. She was going to get her pendant out, but realized
she left it in her secret club house. Dark was going to go get it, but she was
grounded.
Dark lay on her bed and thought of a way to get
out of being grounded. She needed a really good plan. Nothing came to her head.
She got up and went downstairs. Dark was just going to apologize to her brother.
She found her brothers Torrin and Adarin, a white ixi, sitting on the couch
in the living room.
"Torrin, I'm sorry for being rude. It's just
that Cece and I are having a fight right now," Dark told her brother.
"It's alright. Come sit next to me. Adarin just
got a letter from the school," Torrin said. Dark sat next to Torrin and read
the letter:
Dear Adarin,
We will not be able to accept you to our school.
We just have too many Neopets running about the place. I hope you understand
. . .
Ms. Finn
"I'm sorry, Adarin. Well, I hope you get into
a school," Dark said as she hugged her brother. Adarin got up and trotted up
the stairs. Dark went to the club house and grabbed the box with the pendant
and went to her room.
Dark opened the box to find the pendant was .
. . GONE! She really needed to find that pendant. Now Dark had realized more
than ever that the pendant was evil. The Lupe jumped up and went to find Cece.
For all she knows Cece could be in trouble.
"Torrin! I have to tell you something. I got
a pendant from my trip to Mystery Island. I never told anyone except Cece. Now
I realize that the pendant was the thing that tore Cece and I apart. And Cece
could be in danger, and I need your help!" Dark cried. She didn't want her friend
hurt at all.
Torrin didn't reply. He just went to his room
grabbed Battledome items, and rushed out the door with Dark tagging along. They
knocked on Cece's door. No one answered. They knocked again. No one answered.
It went on like this for a few minutes. Finally Torrin just busted the door
down. No one was in sight. Dark ran out of the house to Neopia Central. There
she found Cece sitting in the grass singing. Dark was relieved. She went over
to Cece to talk.
"Hi Cece. I'm sorry for what happened recently.
I really want us to be friends again. So what do you say?" Dark apologized to
her "friend." Cece smiled and gave her friend a great big hug. Dark and her
Cybunny friend started to talk when a huge shadow started to surround them.
The two were scared and wanted to run, but were too frozen to move. Torrin,
found them and ran right over to them.
"Are you guys okay? Lets go . . . " Torrin, was
going to grab them and go but noticed the shadow that was closing in on them.
The Wocky got out his blade he had found and defended the girls.
Dark and Cece held each other tight hoping to
be fine. The shadow turned into the Shadow Usul. Torrin, gulped and whispered
to the girls, "Run! Get out of here. Tell Adarin to watch you two until I come
back. Now go!" Dark didn't want to leave her brother, but if it was for her
friend and her own sake she would listen. The friends ran all the way to Dark's
house and rushed inside . . .
Adarin sat on the couch reading a book, when
the girls came in. He leaped from the couch to talk to them.
"Why did you run in the house like that? Torrin
is going to have a fit with you two . . . " Adarin stated. Dark told him everything
Torrin said and Adarin took them to safest room in the house. That would be
the basement . . .
Adarin, Dark, and Cece entered the dusty room
of the house and locked up everything that leads outside. The basement was very
dirty. It was very cold, so Dark grabbed a big warm blanket and covered everyone.
The trio just sat in the silence hoping to have Torrin come back. They waited
and time pasted.
Finally Torrin arrived at the house and opened
the basement door. The Wocky was scratched all over. Dark leaped up and hugged
him. She was glad he was okay. Torrin reached into his pocket and pulled out
a chain. It was the pendant! Dark finally had the pendant, but she didn't want
it since it was a symbol of evil.
"So what do we do with the pendant?" the Lupe
asked her brothers . . .
A week later . . .
Dark and Cece sat near the beach of Mystery Island.
The two decided to get rid of the pendant they found and throw it into the sea.
She had locked up the pendant in a small container and threw away the key. The
Lupe tossed it far away from the shore into the water . . .
