Petpets for Summer

by absol_wolf

--------

Have you ever wanted to have your own Petpet before, but don't want one that'll shed all over the new furniture you bought for your Neohome? It can be hard to find a Petpet that wouldn't shed everywhere, sometimes, but there are a few that might fit under what you're looking for!

Almost any Petpet with fur will be prone to shedding all over, especially during these hot summer months. Since you can't do much about the shedding, unless you want to be really mean and shave your Petpet's fur off entirely, you might want to consider getting a furless Petpet. There are numerous furless Petpets to choose from, ranging from Maraquan to Robotic. It's up to you to decide which Petpet you like most of all!

If you're looking for a Maraquan Petpet in your search for a furless companion, but don't want one that'll just sit around all day in a fish bowl or be completely inactive all the time, you might be interested in the Arkmite. Arkmites are closer to being dogs than any normal fish, as they're very active and incredibly loyal to their owners, just like dogs are. They're like miniature shark-puppies and having one is sure to bring a lot of life to your Neohome, without the mess of shedding fur. Only, getting one of these Petpets might bring you more of a mess in other ways than shedding fur; like having your furniture ripped up if you leave them alone for too long.

Arkmites range in price, but most will cost between 15,000 and 20,000 Neopoints. It might seem like quite the investment if one doesn't have many Neopoints to spare, but it might be well worth it in the end! Besides being rambunctious and active, Arkmites are also fiercely protective and work as great guardfish. No thief will ever get into your home when an Arkmite is around, and that can end up saving you thousands more in Neopoints than you initially invested!

If you aren't interested in having a terribly active Petpet and want one that's a little bit more relaxed, you might want to consider the Lurman. The Lurman is another Maraquan Petpet and they tend to be very relaxed, not moving very quickly at all – much like a Slorg! Also like Slorgs, the Lurman is happy just crawling up the arms of any Neopet in their own display of affection. You might have to take a bath after this Petpet is done climbing on you, though, because they're very slimy and will get slime all over you, too!

This laid back, cheerful Petpet is incredibly cheap in comparison to the Arkmite, at a mere 2 Neopoints! They won't do anything terribly special like the Arkmite does, but if you don't care about your Neohome being unguarded or about slime covering your house instead of fur, you might like this Petpet! Just don't say we didn't warn you when you wake up with your face and bed covered in this Petpet's slime.

Of course, for those that don't like fishy Petpets, you might be interested instead in the Tyrannian Petpets. Most Tyrannian Petpets are like miniature dinosaurs, so you'd never have to worry about them shedding in your Neohome or getting slime all over. One of the most active of the Tyrannian Petpets is the Niptor, a little dinosaur that can't help but bite everything it sees. These little Petpets are incredibly happy, so long as you don't scold them too much when they rip up your favorite piece of furniture. This can be avoided by buying some cheap plushies for it to chew up, instead.

Niptors used to be very expensive, but now they only cost about 500 Neopoints. As long as you keep up with their rambunctious natures and continually give them plushies or durable toys to keep them busy, you won't have any trouble with these Petpets. They're relatively easy to please, but it's always good to be understanding since these Petpets don't always distinguish between their toys and your furniture. Aside from that, these Petpets are incredibly fun to play with in the back yard or in the local park! It's recommended that you keep them away from young pets, though; their playful natures can sometimes go too far and they could end up hurting someone. They don't always know their own strength!

Alternatively, there is the Duocorn, a strange Petpet with large feet and two horns protruding from its forehead. This Petpet won't really cause any trouble in your household since they don't bite as much as the Niptor. In fact, these Petpets have been known to curl up next to their owner in the middle of the night and sleep peacefully, without disturbing anyone at all! Also, if you're fond of exercising often, then you'll love having one of these Petpets in your family. The Duocorn uses its large feet to easily and quickly run across rocky landscapes, but it could almost certainly run with you wherever you decide to go.

These little lizard-like Petpets are a mere 25 Neopoints; affordable to almost anyone at all. For how great of companions these Petpets can be, I would highly recommend them to anyone who has a lot of energy to spend playing outside.

Finally, for those that don't want a Maraquan Petpet or a Tyrannian Petpet, there are robot Petpets. Robot Petpets are different from normal Petpets, as they don't create messes or mischievous trouble. In fact, most robot Petpets simply do what they're programmed to do, whatever that might be. This can make these Petpets incredibly desirable to pets who don't want any issues or to have to clean up after a messy Petpet.

There are many robot Petpets – just like there are many Tyrannian and Maraquan Petpets – but there are a few that are notably great to have around. Cuttlebots are one of these notable robot Petpets. Cuttlebots are squid-like Petpets that rarely make a single sound, and they're really quite shy, rarely showing themselves unless they need to. You might recognize these Petpets from the game Key Quest, as they appear in one of the mini games, Orbliteration. If you don't mind these shy Petpets only coming around when you call for them, then you might enjoy owning one.

The only downside to Robot Petpets is that they tend to be a bit expensive, though they are worth it in the end. 6000 – 9000 Neopoints can get you one of these Cuttlebots. Whenever you need help around the house, they'll come to your aid and almost certainly lend a helping tentacle. For how much they can help out, quite unlike any normal Petpet, this can make them very much worth the investment of Neopoints.

Last of all, there is the Navibot. Navibots are helpful little Robot Petpets whose main purpose is to, as suggested by its name, navigate around. With its built in navigator, you'll never get lost ever again, no matter where you go. These Petpets can be a real essential if you're venturing into areas you've never been before, as not only do they know where they are, but they'll also help you get back onto a path that you can recognize.

Navibots typically cost around 9500 Neopoints, but as a Petpet, they can be well worth it. They aren't messy and take only minimal maintenance to take care of, which can be great for any Pet. You won't have to deal with any fur and you definitely won't have to deal with them tearing anything up when you aren't home!

All in all, there are quite a few different furless Petpets that you can enjoy bringing into your Neohome this summer. No matter what you choose, you're sure to have a great time with your new Petpet!
