Jungle Raiders Guide: Swing Your Way To Gold by quiggles_r_kewl_1
--------
Deep within the jungles of the lost city of Geraptiku on Mystery Island a brave Mynci explorer made an extraordinary discovery- silver and gold coins as far as the eye could see! Now he must swing vine to vine to collect all the treasure and make it out of the jungle alive! This Jungle Raiders guide hopefully will teach you not only how to collect the treasure but how to collect a trophy in this game as well! The Basics
In Jungle Raiders you play an adventurous Mynci who has to swing vine to vine and leap on and off platforms to collect all the silver and gold coins he possibly can while avoiding enemies! There are 3 levels the Mynci must navigate through to collect all the treasure and each level gets progressively longer and harder. I find this game lags, so make sure to play the game on low quality! To move your Mynci right and left, use your right and left arrow keys respectively. To jump from vine to vine or on the platforms press the space bar. The gold and silver coins are worth 3 points each. There are also enemies in the game that appear on the vines and platforms you can kill for 10 points each. There are enemies that also appear from the top and bottom of the screen that throw coconuts, bananas and dung at you. They can't be reached to kill and you just have to do your best to avoid the objects they throw. If an enemy or a flying object hits the Mynci you lose health. The health bar is at the bottom of the screen and if it ever becomes completely empty it is game over. You start the game out with 3 lives. If you fall off a platform or don't make a jump to the next vine or fall off a vine you lose a life. Don't fear, though; there are also lots of good power-ups in the game that can also help you escape the jungle intact with your treasure. I will explain more about the power-ups and enemies in the next sections.
Power-ups There are 5 useful power-ups you can collect as you guide your Mynci through the jungles of Geraptiku. Extra Life: This power-up looks like a Mynci head and gives you an extra life! Hooray! Flaming Bomberry: This power-up, which is red and has flames on the bottom, will increase your health and also will add 6 points to your score! Collecting these are essential in keeping you alive and getting enough points for a trophy! Twirly Fruit: This green power-up increases your speed and will help you leap from one vine to the next. The effect only lasts for a limited time. Pluburb: This purple anti-gravity power-up makes the Mynci lighter and lets you jump farther. The effect only lasts for a limited time. Stramberry: This pink power-up makes you invincible and resistant to damage from enemies and flying objects for a short amount of time.
When you pick up a Twirly Fruit, Pluburb or Stramberry, the Mynci will glow until the power-up wears off. Another important thing to note about those 3 particular power-ups is that you can only have one of them active at a time. If you pick up another power-up while your Mynci was still glowing from a different power-up then the Mynci will only be able to exhibit the most recently collected power-up. When I play I make sure to pick up every single power-up because they are useful and ultimately essential in making it to the end of the game!
Enemies There are 3 types of enemies in Jungle Raiders. I will explain more about them below. Quetzals: These snake-like petpets are found sliding up and down the vines. When you are confronted with a vine that has a Quetzal on it try to jump above the Quetzal and then keep pressing the down arrow key to kick the Quetzal off the vine. If you didn't jump high enough to get completely above the Quetzal just press the up arrow key until you are at the very top of the vine and then press the down key to kick the Quetzal off. You will take some health damage from doing this but there really is no way around it. You earn 10 points when you a kick the Quetzal off a vine. Schmoonies: These beaver-like petpets are often found on platforms and can be defeated by pressing the space bar and jumping on their heads. Again you earn 10 points for every one you kill. There are also some Schmoonies that are found on the top of the screen in the jungle canopy throwing objects at you. They can't be defeated; you just have to try to avoid the objects they throw at you.
Native Myncies: These are Myncies who are found on the bottom of the screen on the jungle floor throwing bananas, coconuts, and dung at you. They can't be killed so you have to just do your best to avoid the objects they throw at you.
Remember if an enemy or flying object hits you your health bar will deplete and if the health bar completely drains it is game over! Avoiding the flying objects is fairly difficult. It is impossible to get through the game without taking damage from enemies and objects, so collect every single Flaming Bomberry you come across to restore your health! If you are on a platform just try to avoid flying objects by jumping or moving to the right or left. You can also duck when you are on a platform by pressing the down arrow key. When you are on a vine it is much more difficult to avoid the flying objects. I tend to just ignore them because there are a lot of Flaming Bomberries in the game to restore your health. If you really want to though you can try to avoid the objects by moving up or down on the vine or jumping on the objects as you are jumping to the next vine. If you manage to jump on the object while flying through the air to the next vine you will bounce off the object and land on the vine without taking any damage! Making The Leap The hardest part of this game is learning how to jump from vine to vine successfully. In the game you are constantly moving towards the right. You want to jump when your Mynci is looking to the right and when the vine you are trying to jump to is as close to you as possible. The vines swing in a regular left to right to left motion and you want to wait until the vine is swinging to the left back towards you before you jump. There is no timer in this game so be patient and wait until the vine is close enough for you to successfully make the jump. Sometimes you will have to wait awhile! Never jump when the vine is moving away from you! When you jump by pressing the space bar also press the right arrow key as well to aim for the vine!
If you have a speed increasing Twirly Fruit power-up or an anti-gravity Pluburb activated, jumping from vine to vine is much easier, so only then do I move quickly and make as many jumps as fast I can before the power-up effect expires. Another important tip is that you want to jump when your Mynci is in the middle section of the vine and not the top or bottom. If you jump from the bottom of the vine gravity takes over by the time you get to the next vine and you will miss the vine completely and lose a life. If you try to jump from the top of the vine, I tend to get stuck and the Mynci will not jump properly. When you are on a vine you can move your Mynci up or down by using the up and down arrow keys respectively. Never go below the green knot at the bottom of a vine because you will fall off and lose a life.
Also, if you ever make a leap and you think you will not make it, you can try to press the left arrow key to jump back to your original vine. You will not always make it but it is possible as I have done it many times. If you successfully do it, your Mynci will be facing to the left on the vine it jumped back to. You want to press the right arrow key to make the Mynci face to the right again before you make your next jump! You always want to have your Mynci facing in the direction you want to jump!
Going For The Gold There is a maximum score of 1534 points in Jungle Raiders. If you want to get a trophy you normally need to get the maximum score or very close to it. In order to get the maximum score you need to collect every coin, every Flaming Bomberry, and kill all the Quetzals on the vines and all the Schmoonies found on the platforms. You need to be careful when you are flying through the vines collecting coins because sometimes there are coins that are somewhat hidden near the top of the trees. Make sure you take your time and make sure you collect all the coins. Once a vine goes off the left side of the screen and is no longer visible that vine is now gone for good. If you miss a coin back there you can't backtrack to collect it so be careful. To know you are collecting everything you need to, a good thing to know is that by the end of level 1 you should have 306 points and by the end of level 2 you should have 744 points. By the end of level 3 you should have 1534 points if you have been collecting everything and defeating all the accessible enemies. Hopefully this guide will get you that Jungle Raiders trophy you've always wanted!
