Fairground Fun

      "Just get the stripes..." I sighed exasperatedly. My sister is such a pain in the neck... this is going to take forever.

      "Huh? Do you really think so? Hmm... Maybe. But the polka dot really stands out, don't you think? I'm sure I would be dazzling neopets with it! There's that kind of oomph everybody wants, you know! I would look so fabulous in it, compared to the stripes!" She put the two dresses up to the mirror for the umpteen time, trying to have a feel of how she looked.

      "Then get the polka dot..." I mumbled off into the distance.

      "You're right! That would make sense... Except that the stripes look good too! Wow, I just realised that and I almost wanted to go for the polka dot! Now I see that the stripes would be the envy of every neopet we walk by! It matches my mane too, so that's a huge plus-" She was interrupted by a very angry and irritated Bori, i.e., me.

      "For the love of Fyora, we are going to the Deserted Fairgrounds! You don't need a fancy dress for that, just get a plain shirt and that's all!" Temper apparently doesn't like to be kept in check.

      "Hey, you're right!" She trotted off to her room, still clutching the dresses tightly, while I was waiting outside, tapping my paw irritatedly, occasionally checking my watch.

      "Aha!" She emerged victorious, although she brought a dust cloud along with her. "Achoo! Achoo!" We both sneezed together, causing the dust cloud to part and return again.

      "So, which one should I wear? The pink one or the white one? The pink would really match my colour, you know! The white one on the other hand matches my mane perfectly! Hmm... Pink would be great, but white will be better... No, pink would be better... Or white? Or pink? Or whi-"

      "OH MY FYORA! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE, YOU SICK CREATURE!" I cried in disgust and went to grab a book from the nearest shelf, along with some snacks and plumped myself onto the couch and started to read while Kali droned on and on behind me.

      Unis.

      "Eyrie cab!" I waved my paw as hard as I could to attract the attention of the nearest cab.

      "Yes, sir, where would you like to go?" The Eyrie cab flew down gracefully and spoke with the dignity of a refined gentleman. My sister on the other hand was the exact opposite.

      "The deserted fairgrounds, please," I said, then Kali interrupted me with some questions to the eyrie cab such as how long it would take, how far away is it, blah blah blah. I'm sure the Eyrie was irritated but he certainly did not show it as he answered the questions patiently.

      The trip was mostly uneventful except the thousands of oohs and ahhs from Kali.

      "We're here, sir. That'd be 472 neopoints, please."

      "Sure, hang on." I plucked a few neopoints from my pouch and handed it to the Eyrie cab, whom he took happily and flew off.

      ***

      "Oh look, Sssssidney!" Kali cried and trotted over.

      "It's just Sidney, ma'am. Do you want a ssssssscratchcard?"

      "Ssssssure!"

      "Don't imitate me. Here's your sssssscratchcard."

      "Thanksssssssss!"

      "Ssssssssssstop it."

      I had to drag her away from that mess.

      "Hey, my sssssscratchcard! I haven't ssssssssscratched it yet!"

      ***

      "Coconut Shy! I wanna play that!"

      "Fine." I sighed and handed her 500 neopoints to try and knock the coconut down.

      The first throw, it flew out of the stall and landed in Bagatelle, whereby it won the jackpot, much to my surprise, and Harker who was running the stall. We were 200,000 neopoints richer after that.

      The second made Leeroy laugh as the throw just landed at his feet.

      The third hit the coconut and bounced off harmlessly.

      The fourth she hit the creepy Quiggle in the head, making him yell out in pain and giving Kali one more try.

      The fifth and last was a huge surprise -- it bounced off the first coconut and hit the second, third, fourth, and fifth all in a row.

      "Wait for it..." Kali mumbled excitedly.

      Plonk! Plonk. Plonk? Plonk, PLONK!

      Another 50,000 in the bag.

      ***

      "Corkgun Gallery, ooh!" Kali squealed, took out a thousand neopoints and handed it to the gypsy, Lyanka.

      "10 shots for you." The gypsy loaded the corkgun and handed it to the Uni. "Good luck!"

      "Thanks!" Kali said, and took aim with the old corkgun.

      Pow!

      The cork flew up high into the air, hitting the wooden back of the stall and bounced back, hitting Kali square in the nose.

      "OW!" She cried, and rubbed her nose painfully. She sniffed and threw the corkgun down and trotted over to me, with an indignant look on her face. "Jake, did you see what that cork did to me? It... it... sniff... sniff... it hit me! Wah!"

      "There there, don't cry, Kali. I'll go and get you some ice cream, just wait here!" Her wails stopped immediately, replaced with a look of happiness and excitement. She didn't expect what came next, though.

      "Here!" I came running back from the spooky food stall, breathless but in my paw an ice cream -- a spooky gooplecream. "Sorry, that was the best I could get!"

      "It tried to bite me! Ew!" Kali flung the gooplecream on the ground, causing it to flop about, while chasing the Uni around. "What is it doin- AHHHHHHH! IT'S CHASING ME! SOMEONE HELP!" She ran off into the distance with a flopping gooplecream following. That would have been something to remember!

      "Phew, finally got rid of that persistent gooplecream. Who knew spit worked so well in dissolving it?" Kali spat in disgust. "Well anyway, the last stall -- the Wheel of Misfortune!"

      "Wait, are you sure you want to do this? It may be dangerou-"

      "Nonsense, of course I want to do this! It's only 150 neopoints, no biggie!"

      "Fine..." I mumbled as we walked over to the stall.

      "Step right up, step right up! Only 150 neopoints to spin! Just step right up, grab the handle and..." The shadow paused for dramatic effect. "Pull..."

      Kali trotted over and dropped 150 neopoints onto the table, and proceeded to spin the wheel, unafraid of anything. In fact, she looked rather delighted!

      Tut tut tut tut tut tut tut... It span round and round, round and round until it stopped... On a symbol of a red bottle.

      "Hey, cool! What did I- Ugga ugga ugga?" She paused and repeated what she said. "Ugga ugga ugga? Ugga ugga ugga!"

      I smirked and lumbered away, with Kali shrieking in the distance. It would be nice not to hear her say anything for a while, especially when choosing what to wear!

The End... or not?

      "Ugga ugga ugga?!" Kali pleaded.

      No way am I going back there!
