So, you've got tickets to sunny Mystery Island for the annual Gadgadsbogen festivities, but it's your first visit, and you're looking to fill out that itinerary? Look no further than Totally Real!:Guide to Mystery Island! We've got you covered with a list of things to do, places to see, and even a couple to avoid at all costs. Let's dig in! The Good: 1. The Tropical Fruits Shop On the western side of the island sits the Tropical Fruits Shop. If you're here for the Gadgadsbogen Festival, you might want to make this your first and last stop! By the end of the festival, some Tropical Fruits will stop growing on the island, and a new generation will take their place! Grab some old fruit while you can, and be sure to pick up some of the new! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: An elder of the Pango Tribe, currently Cinto Pango, announces the list of new Tropical Fruits at the end of each festival! 2. The Singing Stones Stones carved into the shape of heads can be seen across Mystery Island, but those that sit near the Rock Pool are especially interesting. The expertly carved stones here have had small airways tunneled through them. As the wind passes through these tunnels, the carvings almost seem to sing! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: Some believe that the "songs" the stones sing during the festival foreshadow which Tropical Fruits will disappear! 3. The Underwater Chef's Restaurant Though most of his time is spent whipping up meals for Mumbo Pango, he also heads a successful restaurant/academy. The menu here is designed to perfectly highlight each available Tropical Fruit, so there's bound to be something you'll like. Make sure to reserve a table before your visit, though, as there is rarely room for walk-ins! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: At the end of every festival some menu items are retired as some of the Tropical Fruits become unavailable, but recipes are quickly whipped up for the newly discovered Tropical Fruits! 4. The Yooyuball Field The Mystery Island team can typically be seen here, training diligently for the next Altador Cup. The stands are open to the public, so you might catch a practice match if you're lucky. And, if you're even luckier, you might be able to grab an autograph or two afterward! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: During the festival, a special match is played between the professional Mystery Island team and the amateur Geraptiku team! 5. The Trading Post Sure, you could get some Island Merchandise from Tiki Tack, but you could also leave the island with something even more exotic! If you're looking to take home something incredibly rare, then the Trading Post is the place to go. People from every corner of Neopia put items up for trade here, you never know what treasure you might find! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: If you aren't fast enough to grab any of the newly discovered Tropical Fruits, you might be able to trade for them here! 6. The Beachfront The beach is where everything and everyone on Mystery Island eventually ends up! Catch some surfing lessons during the day, or a luau during the night. Music, food, sports, dancing, art, you name it, the beachfront has it! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: This is the last stop for the parades that make their way through the streets, the performers and vendors set up their spaces here for the evening and well into the night! 7. Techo Mountain No trip to Mystery Island is complete without summiting the volcano. From this vantage point, high above the island, you might even be able to scope out more places to visit. The trip up might take almost an hour, but the view is well worth it. If you're looking for a quick trip back down, consider renting a paraglider! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: There are hefty fines for littering along the hiking trail and even larger fines for throwing Tropical Fruit into the mouth of the volcano! The Bad: 1. Arkmite Shoals Located on the northern side of the island is a beautiful beach. The shallow water here might make it seem like a great place to spend the day, splashing away, but don't be fooled! This place has been named for the rather feisty Petpets that inhabit the waters, and they aren't to be trifled with! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: Arkmite LOVE Tropical Fruits! 2. The Deserted Tomb This ancient structure is located in the Lost City of Geraptiku, deep within the forest. While it may seem like a tantalizing challenge, especially given the rumored treasures within, it is not advised to enter! Many a tourist and local have gotten injured attempting to delve into the tomb, returning with stories of traps and a ghostly guardian. Some have even gone missing! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: Locals lay Tropical Fruits on the steps leading up to the tomb in hopes of good luck! 3. The Unblinking Caverns Nestled at the base of Techo Mountain, these caverns boast some creepy glowing red lights. While the name might lead you to expect that these lights never blink, some do, and that's the scary part. It's said that the inhabitants of these caverns only let the exceptionally strong pass, so it's best to leave these caves to the professionals! Totally Real! Gadgadsbogen Fact: Some people say that, during the festival, music can be heard bellowing from deep within the tunnels. Travel Advisories: 1. Pack for Anything Thin layers and sunscreen are essential to brave the Mystery Island sunshine, and you can't go wrong with topping your outfit off with a sunhat! Don't stop packing there, though, as rainstorms and even freak snowstorms are always a possibility. Pack options! 2. Be Prepared to Stay a Bit Longer As a remote island, it isn't particularly easy to come and go as you please. The boats operate on a schedule, and only in good weather. So, if you show up late, or there's stormy weather, then expect to prolong your stay! Safe Travels! We here at Totally Real! wish you all the best on your next trip to Mystery Island.
