Quote of the Week
Nathan was now screeching words unknown to her in a voice she never knew he could make. Suddenly thunder cracked and the roaring of the wind outside became audible in the room, revealing the full intensity of the storm.
The Bravery to Put Pen to Paper
You’re reading this and saying to yourself, Oh Fyora, I wish I was talented enough to get that exclusive Neopian Times Writer avatar. Allow me to tell you this: a far greater reward awaits once you put pen to paper than a Weewoo wobbling on a stack of printed issues. There are countless Neopians eager to experience your imagination through your artistry. And who knows? After tapping into your writing, you may earn that White Weewoo and the respectable NT Star avatar for 10+ accepted submissions too. After collaborating with someone, I learned not everyone is thrilled to write as I am. It’s one thing to run Neopies award-winning cinematic masterpieces in your head, but once you stare at a blank sheet of paper, the task becomes insurmountable. You may feel apprehensive about tackling such a monstrous undertaking, and that’s okay. Let me inspire you to conquer your fear and take the first step. I won’t offer grammatical or stylistic advice because those skills are honed from practice and regular reading. And hey, you can find that stuff at libraries, writers’ groups, and your local bookshop. Whether you’re in Brightvale, Faerieland, or even in Moltara’s Arcanium, self-help texts may provide everything you need to succeed in Neopia with diagrams, step-by-step processes, and interviews with |
Tips for Writing for Special Issues
Every 25th issue. The ones that give you that rare avatar. You know the ones I mean. The issues that everyone scrabbles desperately to get into.
These coveted issues receive some of the highest volumes of submissions. Coming up with something unique, something guaranteed to get you published, is more difficult than ever, as everyone pulls out the stops.
Like many of my fellow Neopians, I spend months racking my brains to figure out what the best article, the best story, the best comic would be…
And I failed. Suddenly nothing seemed good enough. So I took to the Neoboards, my go-to world of Neo-information.
“What do you like to see?!” I asked them desperately, palms sweating, hoping that some lightning bolt of inspiration would shoot down from the sky and zap a genius idea into my brain.
“Do you even care about the special issues?!” I queried, panicked that no one actually read the submissions, that no one appreciated the huge amount of effort put into every story.
And one further, dangerous, scary question…
“Do you even read the Neopian Times?”
Flitting anxiously from board to board, asking my questions, I realised something. Every board had its own NT-related quirks, and each focussed on something different. Here I will summarise the findings from each board. |
| Ellsworth's List of Neopia's Top Parties
*ahem* As the esteemed host of the Neopies, Neopia’s premier award show, you might say I’ve received my fair share of party invitations. *chuckles* From Eliv Thade’s spine-chilling Monster Mash to celebrate Halloween to King Skarl’s Grand Feast to commemorate the Discovery of Meridell, I’ve had the honour of attending some of Neopia’s swankiest and most exclusive events. *winks* No matter the time, place, or occasion, Neopians love to kick up their heels, let their hair down, and get festive. You could say that a love of revelry is practically woven into the Neopian spirit. It’s what makes a Neopian Neopian.
In order to help commemorate the milestone 1025th edition of the Neopian Times, I’ll be presenting an award for the Best Party in Neopia. *clears throat* So, without further ado, the nominees for Neopia’s Best Party are…

"A Weewoo's Delivery Day" by maddie_bangz The crisp smell of ink and paper filled the air as another morning at the Neopian Times office began. Neopets rushed around, sipping their coffees and skimming their notepads, mentally taking note of fresh ideas to use for the latest issue. Every day at the Neopian Times office was an exciting one, especially on publishing day. The team had worked their hardest to put this issue together, especially considering this wasn’t just any issue. This was a milestone issue, #1025. The office was abuzz with excitement and anticipation as the writers wondered how Neopia would react to their hard work.
The White Weewoo came gliding into the room, taking in the sight of the morning’s chaos. He grinned at the stack of fresh newspapers hot off the press, ready to be delivered to Neopian residents around the world. He felt a flurry of activity behind him and looked to see other White Weewoos reporting for duty as they came to rest on windowsills and open table spaces. They gave each other amicable looks as they anxiously waited for the official signal. A well-known editor of the Times was busy looking over the stacks of papers as more were ushered into the room. |
"Echoes in the Snow" by kadface I knew that I was growing old when I really started getting into jazz. My old man was much the same. I remember every Sunday morning he would go into his library, take a record off the shelf, and set it on the record player. It was like a ritual. He would sit back in his brown leather chair, eyes closed, humming along, and tapping his feet. Whenever I picture him now, I see the sunlight coming through the window, lighting up the dust with a golden glow, spiral smoke rising from the Borovan as it slowly goes cold. It’s only recently that I have started to realise how much I miss those days. I find myself thinking about them more and more during the winter months, waiting for the days to lengthen and life to return. It was the third day of the Month of Sleeping, and the world had filled with snow and ice. I had taken down my Christmas tree, and I knew it would be the last time I played the Jazzmosis seasonal album until it went back up. Sitting in my own leather chair, I allowed my eyes to close with the heaviness of a long day’s work. Although I felt at peace, I had an air of melancholy that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. As I listened to the fireplace cracking, I was close... |
"Can’t You See Me?" by l0000000l ”Butterscotch Latte and Sour Melon Pie for Novaic,” the Coffee Cave owner called out above the mild chatter and mellow music ringing throughout the café. Novaic’s ears perked up at the sound of his name and bounced on over. “That would be me! Thanks, Boss,” Novaic grinned. “And thanks for the discount, too! I’ll be sure to promote your shop to all of my friends.” The Yellow Shoyru scoffed and provided an exaggerated eye roll. “As if you and your group of friends don’t stop by every other day trying to haggle prices with me. Speaking of, is it just you, I have to deal with today? Are your friends a no-show again?” Novaic sputtered over his caffeinated beverage before defensively exclaiming, “Boss! You know I’m your favourite customer. Besides, I’m the only one who actually made the trip over here instead of wasting all my Neopoints on Dice-A-Roo just to catch a glimpse of King Roo.” The Boss smiled fondly at Noavic’s little pout. “Alright, alright. Drown your sorrows by taking a bite of that pie I know you love.” Almost instantly, Novaic’s eyes seemed to glisten as he quickly picked up his fork and went on to devour the delectable treat. For a brief moment, it seemed as... |
