 Sutek's Tomb: A Trophy Guide by lennekegirl123
--------
Something I noticed while looking at trophies of top trophy collectors (we all do that, don’t we?), is that many of them seem to be lacking the Sutek’s Tomb trophy. A common misconception about this game is that you have to rely on luck rather than skill. The Sutek’s Tomb guides I have seen all talk about the basics: what symbols there are, what difficulty you should play on, what the effect of the bombs is and so on. However, I haven’t seen a guide so far that gave you concrete tips on how to improve your score and go that extra mile for a trophy. I am assuming all trophy collectors without a Sutek’s Tomb trophy are able to obtain a score between 3,000 and 8,000 points and know about the basics of the game. This advanced Sutek’s Tomb guide aims to give you tips on how to improve your current high score, and ideally to get a score in trophy range!Tip 1: The first and most important thing you need to do is to always keep playing! Keeping focus is very important in Sutek’s Tomb. I prefer to have no distractions while playing the game. I sit in a quiet room with no music on as it helps me focus. To turn off any in-game sounds, you can click the music note on the right twice. This is entirely up to you! Do what helps you focus better. :) Also, many people tend to overthink combos. They want to set up the symbols so that a high combo is in order. This includes trying to get the special symbols (the Ankh and Scarab and Orange Shirt Guy) to the bottom. Do not do this! The only symbol I try focusing on is Ollie (the Orange Shirt Guy). He not only gives you 500 points, but also clears the entire board, which can really come in handy. Personally, I have only taken the other two to the bottom about four or five times ever and it was usually coincidental. Purposely trying to do this causes you to look for moves in that area only, while you should be making combos as fast as possible. Yes, sometimes this can cause you to make a combo while passing up on a better one that you didn’t notice. This is fine, as long as you follow the next tip. Tip 2: Prioritize! Okay, you might be thinking: ‘this sounds contradicting. First she wants me to make combos as fast as possible, and now she wants me to think about them?’ I am talking about a situation where you have the luxury to have many possible moves available. Aimlessly making combos can get you a trophy, however if you want to avoid running out of moves quickly, I would suggest you to prioritize some moves over others. Although the board resets when you are out of moves, finding that one move that is left can take up a lot of your time. Now onto the real deal: what do you need to prioritize? Firstly, prioritize vertical combos over horizontal ones. Not only do they cause more combos than horizontal ones, they also set off possible bombs that might be above them, giving you a lot of points. Secondly, try to look for moves towards the bottom first and work your way up. This shuffles up your board more and causes more combos at the top. Thirdly, seek moves that increase your time. Try to prioritize combos with four or five symbols over the ones with three, which do not increase your time. Let’s look at the following situation: While both moves give you extra time, the green move gives you 30 points, while the red move gives you 20 points. Therefore, it would be better to make the green move. The difference is very minor, it’s just a little something I noticed and wanted to share. :) That is it for the prioritizing! Let’s move on to the next important tip. Tip 3: Use your breaks wisely. You can pause the game by clicking on the hourglass. The game will only let you do this three times, but do not worry! You get a free pause whenever you run out of moves. The game board is shuffled and you have to click to continue. Whatever you do, do NOT immediately click continue! You can use this as a free break, so go run around, feed your dog (or neopet, as long as you do it in a separate tab of course!), do some pushups, stretch your thumbs, take a nap, just do whatever gets you back in focus. :) Tip 4: My last tip is to just relax. Many people get stressed when they cannot find a new move immediately. Try to calmly scan the board for new moves (I like to look at each color separately to find moves quickly) and type the pyramibread code if you can’t find a move after about 5 seconds. Keep in mind that three bombs also make a combo and the golden coin goes with any symbol. Take enough breaks and do not look at the hourglass too much! I hope this game guide motivated you to try for a Sutek’s Tomb trophy next reset. Even if the guide just improved your score, I would love to hear about it! You can always neomail me if you have any questions or comments. Good luck and most importantly: have fun playing! ^_^
