--------
As an avid Neopian Book reader, the short descriptions given alongside the Neopian books have always left me open to wondering the story behind the book I'm reading to my Neopet. In these short story extracts I imagine short snippets of the story that have been inspired by the descriptions given alongside the books. This week's theme is 'The Sea' and I've chosen 5 books fitting this theme to write extracts from. These are: Aisha Sea Life, Book of Sea Spells, Deep Sea Explorations, Spotting Seaweed and The Old Mynci and the Sea. ---- 1. Aisha Sea Life Description - "Written by a Maraquan Aisha who wanted to share her underwater experiences with everyone." Dear Blog Readers, I've just been mistaken for Isca again today! Can you believe it? I know my perfect silky, smooth hair gives me a slight resemblance to her (or let's be honest, a younger attractive version of her) but today someone even complimented me on my outfit choice saying it looked like it was picked by Isca herself - and when they first glanced at me they thought I was her! I honestly can't believe how many people tell me I look just like her! Since moving to main Maraqua I've seen the glimpses people have given me on the street, and I knew what they were all thinking, I just can't believe she had the guts to come and say it, you know? The outfit I chose was a simple white blouse top and green flowing skirt, the material is such good quality for the price and if you use my discount code 'BLOG25' you can currently get 25% off! (link in bio below.) Anyway, on to the rest of my day... I managed to have the yummiest salad and drink from this little boutique restaurant, it's called 'Kelp.' I know most of you probably haven't heard of it, but it's this really cute little restaurant and the whole atmosphere was giving off such a vibe. I'd love to give them a 5-star review because, props to them, I didn't realise I needed to make a reservation but when I got there I just told the guy on the door my name and he seated me straight away. I think he knew how big my following is and knew he shouldn't turn me away as if I posted about them they might get great exposure. (You're so welcome Kelp! :)) But 3 stars is the rating I'm giving them as they didn't understand the exposure I would be giving them by posting and instead made me pay for my meal. (Small tip, a post on my blog is worth the cost of the meal ten times over.) But hey, I still mentioned them as the food was so yummy and hopefully, if I go back they'll understand how much I've done for them! Be sure to read my next blog post where I explain what I did after Kelp, you won't believe what somebody had the audacity to say to me! I love and appreciate all my little 'bloggie readies' so much, keep being amazing and don't forget to share this post with all your friends. Hugs and kisses xox ---- 2. Book of Sea Spells Description - "Once in the private collection of the Water Faerie, this book of Sea Spells makes quite an interesting read." Name: Water healing incantation Uses: When injured in battle to heal the body. Chant: I call upon the element of water to bless this poor soul, May I manifest the power of the springs to make him whole, The great power of the sea is a mystery for all, Blessed be all creatures big, or small. We do not interfere in a fight, There simply is no wrong or right May it grant them inner health and sight, As we perform this ritual tonight. Needed: 'Moon Water' - Water gathered from the Bubbling Pit in the light of the first quarter moon, containing no more than three bubbles. 'Dried Scale' - A dried scale from the Giant Spectral Mutant Walein, specifically gathered after defeat in battle. 'Tears' - Empathetic tears of a water faerie. ---- 3.Deep Sea Explorations Description - "The story of one Kois adventures exploring the ruins of Maraqua." Harvey couldn't believe his eyes, after his earlier run-in with the slug monster, he was thinking of throwing the towel in and heading home. But this adventure had just become real, straight in front of him stood a temple. Harvey had studied the textbooks and all of the surrounding folklore and he knew for a fact a temple hadn't been mentioned anywhere. He didn't quite believe his eyes, but a few rubs of the eyes made him realise that it was in fact real and as far as he was aware, he had just discovered something not on any maps! As he approached the temple, the first thing he noticed was the strange runes that adorned the doorway. He had studied ancient Maraquan, but this was not a text he recognised, in fact, this looked even older than ancient texts he had seen previously and almost primitive. The closer he got there was one particular rune that stood out, he started to become hyper-focused on it, his eyes in trance. The more he looked, it almost seemed to glow and jump out of the doorway frame. Suddenly the glow encompassed him, it didn't just seem to be glowing, it was glowing! The glow lit up the surrounding area and in a flash disappeared. It took Harvey's eyes a moment to adjust after being blinded by the light, but when he did he realised he was no longer standing where he once was. If he knew any better he would care to guess that he had somehow been transported inside of the temple. A small shimmer of light illuminated the room from the small crack in the walls, as he looked around he saw an unlit candle sitting on an old side table. But there was something peculiar about this candle, as hovering just above the wick of the candle was a small cloud of smoke - something that indicated to Harvey that this meant the candle had just recently been put out. Did this mean that he wasn't the only one there? In the entirety of his adventure so far, he had not come across any other Neopians this far in the Maraquan Ruins. "Hello, is anyone there?" Harvey's voice echoed around the empty room. ---- 4.Spotting Seaweed Description - "Where to find the best seaweed, how to identify it and some simple recipes once you have found it." Wiggling Seaweed Plant - This plant often eludes the most accomplished seaweed hunter-gathers. But the hunt for the plant is almost always worth the effort, as this particular seaweed has been noted for the exquisite taste sensation it adds to every dish. A must-have ingredient for all food connoisseurs and a keen addition to the Kelp menu. And of course, with such a highly sought-after ingredient comes another thing, a high price tag. If you are lucky enough to find one of these plants, a big payday will not be far behind. So how does one go about finding such an elusive plant? The high demand for such has made the Wiggling Seaweed Plant one of the rarer plants to find. It has become almost obsolete in the regular gathering pools. However in recent years, those brave enough to explore the Ruins of Maraqua have found small bundles growing in the most hard-to-reach areas. It would seem nature is reclaiming these ruins and the wiggling seaweed plant dominates over other plants due to its ability to overpower them. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on this ingredient visit our favourite recipe pages for Seaweed Wrapped Dumplings (page. 47), Fresh Seaweed Pie (page. 101) or Seaweed Paste (pages. 223) to name but a few! ---- 5. The Old Mynci and the Sea. Description - "The sea. It was wet. And cold." Another day passes, another wave splashes, another day dragging down and diminishing all hope. The Mynci had lost count of how many days he had been lost at sea, he had initially been keeping track of the days but as each day went by and no sign of rescue had come he had less and less reason to count the days. In fact, counting the days had just made him all the more sad, imagining all of the days he was missing out on back home. He knew he was lucky as he hadn't fallen to the same fate as his other crewmates, but the loneliness was eating him up inside. He often reflected back on his younger days and how full of hope and optimism he was, a young Mynci where the thought of travelling the seas filled him with warmth and excitement. Yet every now and again he would capture a glimpse in the still waters and all he would see staring back at him was a strange face, this face was old and dishevelled looking and often it took him a few moments to realise that the face staring back at him wasn't strange at all, in fact, it was just his reflection. The young Mynci he once knew no longer existed, and staring back now was an old Mynci. The adventures he had once imagined himself going on were a long distant memory and the perfect sea he wanted to travel turned out to not be perfect at all. He hated the sea now, there was nothing perfect about it. It was wet. And cold. ---- I've hoped you've enjoyed my short extractions of how I imagine these Neopian Stories to go! The End.
