Autumnal: Top Five Autumn Items Guide - Petpets

by sosunub

--------

When people ask others what they like doing on Neopets or what things do they do that make them stay active and motivated, the common answers usually are avatar collecting, guilds, trophies, stamps, among others. My case is completely different, however. If I had to describe myself and explain what I do on this site, I'd basically say one word: Autumn. I just love this season so so much and Neopets knows how to represent it through all the wonderful Autumn themed items such us books, grooming and even the amazing NP and NC wearable items. I think this season is very well resembled on the site and I have dedicated all my time towards this season. Everything I do and talk about will always be related to it. Neopets and the Staff Team know exactly how to take the season to a whole new level. The wearable backgrounds they come up with are just stunning and the Fall Shop at the NC Mall is expected to get busy during the months of September, October and November - This season sure does draw attention! With this articles I want to put my thoughts and opinions on the items I think are the best among the over two thousand you can find all over Neopia. With these guides I hope I can motivate and inspire you to create wonderful and outstanding customizations for your pets! - Sit back, grab something to drink and enjoy the falling autumn leaves while reading this great article.

Part five: Petpets

We spend so much time dressing our pets up for the chilly fall, we tend to forget about a Neopian's best friend: his or her petpet! Unfortunately, most petpets don't like clothes. They have their warm coats to keep them warm and all the extra frill limits them from running and flying like they love to. It's okay, because petpets are adorable with or without a wardrobe! Also, because so many species of petpets inhabit Neopia, there are of course those that will remind you of autumn every day of the year! Here are the top 5 autumn-themed petpets:

1. Juma

What did the Juma say? Well, I don't know, because this Shenkuuvian petpet doesn't have much to talk about, but this petpet has a gorgeous amber-colored furry coat that is so soft to the touch. It's not always easy to see it, though, as Jumas are very playful and very fast…you have to be light on your feet to catch them! They are so loyal, though, and the favorites of everyone in Shenkuu. Imagine coming home from a long day at work or Neoschool and seeing this bundle of fluff immediately run to you…that will put a smile on anyone's face! The only minus of having this petpet is that if your Neopet and their Juma are taking a walk in the autumn woods, the Juma can easily be lost in a pile of brown leaves similar to their coat color. So be careful when you start jumping into the fall foliage!

2. Carmariller

Carmarillers are considered by many to be spring petpets due to their love of flowers. However, these beautiful, little petpets are also the perfect representatives of autumn! Their brown, orange, and yellow coats remind you of the brown branches of the trees that are starting to lose their leaves, bright orange pumpkins, and the yellow autumn sun. The Carmarillers are also so cheery, they sing to you when they're happy (which is quite often!) so they will always lift your mood up when hitting the books again and saying goodbye to summer has got you down.

3. Orange Beekadoodle

Another happy petpet who not only cheers you up with its song but also with its colors is the Orange Beekadoodle. This petpet is little and so fast when it flies, you might think you're seeing a fireball or shooting star in the sky, at first. It is the perfect autumn petpet in that its colors are bright but not overly vivid, quite like what autumn colors usually are. Running after this petpet while it is flying is a great outdoor exercise that will definitely warm you up as the temperatures fall. Finally, the song of the Beekadoodle is unlike any other! It is a series of high-pitched chirps followed by more low-pitched chirps, and when a chorus of these petpets surround you, it almost seems like a story is being told through their song.

4. Ombat

This petpet hasn't been around for as long as some of the others, yet it have caused quite a big impression on all Neopians. Hailing from Mystery Island, the Ombat has a love for digging, so don't keep them indoors for a long time! Several things stand out about this creature. First, are the claws, which the Ombat has specifically for making burrows (similar to the Symol!) They are sharp and rough, but since the Ombat is friendly and gentle, you shouldn't be scared of them. Second is the Ombat's eyes, which always have a curious look to them. They make you wonder what the Ombat is thinking about. Then there is the infamous nose, which is rather large, but it doesn't take away from the loveliness of this petpet and helps him sniff his way around (perhaps it can lead you to the nearest apple-picking patch!) Finally the brown-and-yellow covered coat of this petpet completes the look. The reason this petpet reminds me of autumn is because of the autumnal colors of his fur, as well as the fact that I loved getting some last-minute gardening done in the autumn before taking a break for the winter, and this petpet will always remind me of that will all the burrows he leaves behind!

5. Weewoo

Ending this article with a Weewoo seemed appropriate, since the petpet means a lot to autumn and Neopian Times lovers alike. The origin of these creatures is Krawk Island, many years ago, and they used to assist pirates in their plunders. Nowadays, however, Weewoos can be found all over Neopia, and white Weewoos (the symbol of the NT!) are the most sought after. The sound of "Wee….woo" late at night can make you feel like you are haunted by a ghost or demon, and can make a chill run down your spine. They are harmless though, as most of them are just curious about the world. This curiosity is also what makes them so intelligent. Their brown feathers make them quite the autumn petpet, and it's not hard to imagine waking up to the sound of their wee woos and getting ready to walk through the autumn woods, go to Neoschool, or write up a NT article clutching a pen with shivering fingers while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. This is definitely an iconic petpet, and it will most likely stay this way!
