Paint Brushes for Points: Ultimate PB Guide! by imhalfwaythere
--------
Stop, look around at all the neopets you see. Some of them are dressed up in light blue, sketchy lines. Others are covered in custard or clouds. Some of them can’t even be seen. This is the work of paint brushes. That’s right, those expensive, colorful brushes that will change your pet’s color after a dip in the Rainbow Pool, and a quick coating of paint. Lots of Neopians strive to gain at least one of these brushes for many reasons. For some, it may be to finally acquire a pet in that beautiful color they have always dreamt of. For others, it may be to buy, sell, buy, sell, then buy some more. Others may want to collect them simply because they like them. No matter the reason, there is a large amount of Neopians who wish to have a paintbrush. Unfortunately, it’s not easy for many of these Neopians to get one. That’s where this guide comes into play.
This guide is here to help you get the paint brush or brushes that you have been wanting. Even if you already know how to do it, it’s still a good idea to read this guide. This guide will help you get your paintbrushes, but not just get them: get them fast, and for the best deal you can find. Step 1: The List
The first step in getting the paint brushes you want is to decide which ones you want. This can be done quite a few ways.
The first way is by going to the Rainbow Pool. The Rainbow Pool is located right in the middle of Neopia Central, and can tell you pretty much anything you would like to know about colors. This method is good if you are looking for what colors you want based on a specific pet you wish to paint. Sadly, some pets can’t be painted specific colors, so your paint brush might go to waste. However, going to the Rainbow Pool can quickly fix this issue.
First, after going to the Rainbow Pool, there is a link at the top that says All Neopet Colours. Once you go to this link, there will be two drop down menus. Find the neopet species that you want to paint on the second menu, and then you can see what colors are available for this pet. Not only that, but you can also see what your pet will look like after painting it that color, just so you can make sure you’re pleased.
Another way to decide is based on budget. Think about how much you want to spend on a paint brush. Paint brushes can range in price anywhere from 30,000 neopoints to over 2 million. Think about how much you want to spend on it at most. After this, you can find paint brush guides on Neo that tell you how much the current rate is for different paint brushes. Find one that you really like in your budget, and choose that one.
If you just want them to have them or don’t really care about the color or cost of the paint brush, then you’re ready for step 2. If not, here are some tips to remember when picking a brush: 1. Don’t worry about the price if you are concerned about the color of your neopet. 2. Be positive that your neopet can be painted that color. 3. If you are concerned about the price, don’t be disappointed if you can’t find a brush that you love. The pickier you are about the price, the harder it will be to find a brush that you like. Step 2: Cash
Now that you have decided what paint brush you want, it’s time to start saving money to buy it. For some people, saving neopoints is hard because they see something they just have to have, and then they buy it. Well, it’s time to kick the spending habit and get your paint brush. You may feel hopeless, but if you follow this guide, you can do it.
First, earn the money. Playing some really good games can get you the neopoints you need. Pick some games that you really like and are really good at. These games will be the best to earn your neopoints. Avoid games that have a higher point to neopoint ratio if you don’t like them. You will be less likely to get anything from these games anyways, because if you’re bad at them then you won’t get many neopoints anyway.
Once you have chosen your games add them to your “daily runs”. The Dailies are just routines you do every day on Neopets. Just make sure you play all of these games every day to make sure you get the most neopoints you can from them.
Now that you have your income, you need to make sure you can keep it. The easiest way to do this is by opening an account at the National Neopian. Whenever you gain any neopoints, go and deposit as much of it into your bank account as you can. Try not to carry more than 50 neopoints with you at any time. This way, you can’t spend it on useless things, and nothing can steal your money. When your neopoints are in the bank, they are completely safe.
Something else that’s great about putting your money in the safe and caring hands of the National Neopian is the interest. Whenever you have money in your bank account, you have a yearly interest. This number goes up or down based upon how much money is in your account. You can collect your interest daily. It’s generally a small sum of money. You get about 20 neopoints a day when you have 100,000 neopoints in the bank. This may seem small, but it’s free neopoints, so why not? One thing to remember, you must collect your interest before doing anything else at the bank that day, or you won’t be able to collect it. Opening up a shop is a good way to bring in some neopoints. The best way to make sure you don’t lose money in your shop is by using this method. You won’t gain much money, but it’s effective. Sell things you get for free every day on daily rounds. Go to the giant omelette and get a piece. You can sell this in your shop for a few neopoints, and you got it for free. This way you get a free profit, and you don’t have to worry about if you’re losing money by buying and selling items. You can also try investing in the stock market, although I don’t recommend it. The stock market can be tricky and unpredictable. If you don’t choose your stocks correctly, you can lose money quickly. However, if you are truly willing to try and invest in the stock market, you can get some great tips on it at the stock market board on the neoboards. Step 3: Shopping
Now that you are gaining your neopoints, you need to know how to get your paint brushes. You could walk into a shop and see the paint brush you are looking for. You get excited, withdraw all your neopoints, come back, and buy it. Then, you go onto the neoboards excited about your purchase, when you find out you were ripped off. You paid 100,000 neopoints for a brush you could easily have gotten for 60,000. That means that the owner of the shop just got 40,000 neopoints that you could have easily spent on another paint brush.
Just so no situations like this happen, shop around a little. Try looking on the shop wizard, the auctions, and the trading post. Try and see if you can get a general idea of how much the paint brush costs. You can also ask around on the neoboards. Some people may try to trick you into over paying, but a few kinder Neopians will come in and speak up before you fork over your money and overpay.
If you just can’t seem to find the information you’re looking for by researching on the boards and the shop wizard, try some paint brush guides. There are quite a few of them out there on Neopets. These guides will tell you how much each brush is worth, and where you can find them. Some paint brushes are worth too much to sell in a shop. Sometimes, they must be sold in the auctions or the trading post.
Once you think you have found someone willing to sell you the paint brush at a good price, ask them to negotiate. Most people will negotiate over items that are worth more. Some of them refuse because they want that specific amount. The ones that demand more neopoints and aren’t willing to negotiate aren’t the best to buy from, either because they don’t want to get ripped off, or they think that your overpaying is the right price. A lot of times both of these reasons fuel the other. Step 4: Negotiating
Great! You have made it to the point where someone is willing to negotiate a good price with you. That’s great. It means that they want to give you a good price. However, do you know how to negotiate a good price? If not, here’s the guide to tell you how to negotiate a great price for that perfect paint brush. First, start low. Not too low, but low. You don’t want to offer too close to the starting price because it leaves less room to bargain. You want to tell them how low you’d like, because they’d be more likely to drop their price more. If your offer is too ridiculously low, they will not change their offer. They will simply laugh at you. If this happens, it’s simple damage control. Tell them you’ll raise your offer some, but you would like to stay closer to that range. Most chances, they will understand that you don’t want to pay their asking price and lower it a little.
Something else you should ALWAYS remember. Be polite! If you are kind to them, they will be more likely to give you a better price. If you make them angry, they won’t want to be nice and give you a better offer. If you don’t believe me, try to haggle with a shopkeeper in Neopia Central and see what happens. If you make them angry, they won’t reason with you.
You can keep bringing up your price to meet in the middle. If you are too stubborn, they may get angry and refuse to sell to you. You can always bring our price up slightly and see what they do with their price. If you do this just right, you can end up saving 15,000 neopoints. When I negotiated to buy a sketch paint brush, I was able to bring the price down pretty far. Her asking price was 48,000 neopoints. I got the sketch paint brush for 35,000 neopoints. How? I negotiated. First, I told her the situation. I told her I’ve been saving for a while, and about how much money I had. Then, I shopped around some while negotiating with her and found the same paint brush for 27,000 neopoints in the auctions. I bid on it and told her about that too. I told her that if that deal didn’t go through I would most likely be buying her paint brush. When the deal didn’t go through, we negotiated some more. We finally worked the price down to 35,000 neopoints.
The first few times you negotiate, you may not get a great discount or even the item you want to buy. It takes a few tries to get the best way to do it for you, and your style. Once you’ve done it a few times, you know what you’re doing, and you are pretty much into it. After that, you should have no problems.
Well, that’s all I really have to tell you. Those are the basics on buying a paint brush. You’ll find different things to add to this advice that will make it even better for you. Before you know it, you’ll have so many paint brushes, you’ll be able to paint your pet whatever color you want.
