A Notice From the Neopian Society of Summer Fun

by pillsi

--------

Attention, vacationers and beach-goers of Neopia!

The Neopian Society of Safety and Summer Fun (NSSSS) would like to inform you of certain precautions one must take when visiting the shores of Neopia. Please take the time to read this notice and learn about the various sea monsters that lurk within Neopia's oceans.

Chiazilla

Species: Chia

Last Spotted: Maraqua

The Chiazilla is one of most feared sea monsters for vacationers who relax near or in Maraqua. This monster, however, did not always reside near Maraqua. On the contrary, Chiazilla used to be the legendary protector of Mystery Island, accepting offerings from the natives in exchange for his protection. One day, when the young native prince was lost at sea, the King of Mystery Island sent Chiazilla to recover the prince, an impossible task that neither the prince nor Chiazilla have returned from to this day.

Still true to his protecting ways, the last major event in which Chiazilla has been spotted was to defend Old Maraqua against the Mechchiazilla. Whether Chiazilla protected Old Maraqua out of the kindness of his heart or to depose of an imposter has yet to be confirmed and therefore the NSSSF advise all undersea explorers to take precaution and avoid this sea monster at all cost.

Mechachiazilla

Species: Chia

Last Spotted: Old Maraqua

While Mechachiazilla has not been seen since his defeat at the hands of Chiazilla, NSSSF still advises all vacationers to be on the lookout for this abominable creation. As well known, the notorious Dr. Sloth created Mechachiazilla to attack Old Maraqua, no doubt as one of his plots for Neopia domination. What was Dr. Sloth after specifically you ask? Well the NSSSF has researched this matter and discovered that Dr. Sloth wished to claim the Old Maraquan Battledome.

Therefore, the NSSSF advises all historical adventurers to avoid the ruins of Old Maraqua so that harm does not befall them at the hands of the vanished Mechachiazilla.

The Drenched

Species: Faerie

Last Spotted: Maraqua

The NSSSF advises all vacationers to avoid these faeries at all cost. Despite the kindness of the faerie species, these water faeries are evil and will cause chaos and havoc. If you are not convinced that these water faeries are evil, then ask Jacques the red Kyrii, friend and ally of King Kelpbeard himself. During the war between Captain Scarblade and King Kelpbeard, Jacques was kidnapped by these faeries and much harm befell him. It was not until another sea monster arrived with the help of Isca that Jacques was able to escape and join the fight for Maraqua.

The Drenched are still well known for luring seafarers and then kidnapping them to the bottom of the ocean. For the Neopet planning to enjoy a day out at sea by boat, be weary of these chaotic sisters, especially the color of her tail. Rumor has it the color of her tail changes and increases with the level of evil within each sister.

Giant Spectral Mutant Walein

Species: Petpet

Last Spotted: Maraqua

Unless you are a well-trained ninja from Mystery Island the NSSSF asks that all vacationers avoid this Petpet. While he is a Battledome challenger and rumored to be the best challenger, the Giant Spectral Mutant Walein is still an aggressive monster who will attack and harm beach-goers regardless.

The Giant Spectral Mutant Walein can be described as a giant green Walein with razor sharp teeth and bone protruding from his spinal chord. In addition the Giant Spectral Walein has purple stripes down it's fins and beard-like scales hanging from beneath it's mouth.

Due to the little information known about this sea monster, we further encourage vacationers to avoid the Giant Spectral Mutant Walein at all costs. The NSSSF can not guarantee your safety around this aquatic Petpet.

Giant Squid

Species: Unknown

Last Spotted: Maraqua

We recommend that all fishers avoid attempting to catch Giant Squid while visiting the Ol' Fishing Vortex in Maraqua. While the Squid can range in sizes from tiny to titanic, we ask that you restrain from catching such beasts for dinner. Incidents have occurred where a Neopet has been severely injured. Furthermore, while Maraqua has an excellent healing team at their disposal, treating non-water-breathers is difficult and a hazard due to the under water location.

If in the off chance you do catch a squid, the NSSSF has regulated that any squid bigger than the Small Giant Squid is unacceptable and must be released before the Ol' Fishing Vortex is destroyed, annihilated, or decimated in any way.

Slug Monster

Species: Petpet

Last Spotted: Maraqua

Please do not be persuaded that this sea monster is a simple, gentle guardian of the Maraquan ruins. This assumption is false and down right preposterous. The Slug Monster will attack all adventurers who dare to cross paths with it in the Old Maraquan Ruins. The NSSSF asks that you keep a safe distance from the Giant Slugawoo and if you are so compelled to snap a picture of the sea monster for the Neopian Times, please keep the flash off so as not to provoke the Petpet.

In addition, this sea monster tends to avoid Maraqua, therefore vacationers can be reassured that the monster will not appear in Maraqua. Thus, you can be rest assured that you can enjoy you supper at The Kelp without any tragic happenings.

Krawken

Species: Unknown

Last Spotted: Krawk Island

While little is known about the species of the Krawken, it is apparently related to the Giant Squids. This monster can grow larger than the Titanic Squids and thus capable of sinking ships. The NSSSF therefore recommends that ships be well supplied with cannonballs to fight the Krawken off and check with the dock masters daily if the Krawken has been spotted in nearby waters. Governor McGill of Krawk Island has also agreed to supply Krawken hunters with cannonballs and supplies if they wish to make sport of ridding the island of the beast.

It has been researched and proven that the Krawken is attracted to an excessive amount of anchors. Therefore to avoid attracting the Krawken, the NSSSF has regulated one anchor per ship, boat, vessel, or craft. The Krawken can be described as a ginormous looking squid with brown skin and eight tentacles.

Chasm Beast

Species: Unknown

Last Spotted: Maraqua

While there are far much worse creatures that live in the oceans of Maraqua, this giant fish takes residence deep near the ocean bottom. While the Chasm Beast lives tens and thousands of feet below the sea's surface in Old Maraqua it has been reported that the sea monster attacks ships.

The NSSSF asks that vacationers avoid calling, shouting, or summoning this creature in any way for tragedy nearly always follows the arrival of this aggressive beast. Furthermore that NSSSF asks that you report spotting of the beast so that it may be reported to other vacationers. The Chasm Beast has been described as a dark green water-breather with six tentacles and an enormous mouth capable of swallowing small fishing boats.

The Neopian Society of Safety and Summer Fun thanks you for heeding these precautions and hopes that you have a wonderful summer.
