Petpets in Peril: Part Two by ratty170170
--------
Welcome to the second instalment of Petpets in Peril, articles looking at games that feature petpets. Each game is reviewed and given a peril rating as follows: *: No petpets are harmed in this game **: Minimal fear or danger ***: Some danger involved ****: A little more scary with serious consequences *****: Maximum danger, petpets may get eaten! Last week we covered games that saved petpets from danger, so now let's move onto games where you put petpets into peril! Snowbeast Snackrifice Peril: ***** If you wish to hurl petpets to their doom then perhaps Snowbeast Snackrifice is the game for you. Four stages see you throw Snorkles, Polarchucks, and Meepits into the Snowbeast's lair for it to snack on. Of course the Petpet Protection League are out in force to try and stop your attempts and save those poor petpets. If you throw three the petpets really hard at maximum power you (a Kyrii) will go berserk and be able to hit all the petpets at maximum power for a short period of time. This game receives a peril level of ***** as some petpets may be eaten by the Snowbeast. Feed Florg Peril: ***** In the same vein is Feed Florg. Florg, a mutant Chia, sits at one side of a round table, terrified petpets are dropped into the middle from a cage above and you control a hand to stop them running off the edge before Florg can grab them with his tongue. Again, the peril rating is ***** as poor petpets get devoured. Petpets featuring in this game include Hasee, Kookith, Slorgs, Spyders, Tenna, and Warfs. You can achieve an avatar by reaching 250 points. Petpet Cannonball Peril: *** If you cannot stomach the thought of petpets being eaten Petpet Cannonball is similarly perilous for them, but with no eating. Pirates Neopets are practicing their aim, but someone stole their cannonballs! Instead they compete to launch different petpet species from a cannon through a bucket with a hole in. When the pirates miss petpets are overshot and probably end up in the sea, or hit the hard wooden deck, however they have thoughtfully provided a blanket for a soft landing when they do hit the target, so the peril in this game is only ***. Attack of the Slorgs & Attack of the Slorgs II (Slorgs in Space) Peril: ***** In the original game you play a Meridellian Yurble Farmer protecting his crops from ravenous Slorgs with an invention of your own, the Slorgeriser X4. This machine shoots coloured pellets of Slorg-B-Gone that actually creates a Slorg of that colour...which kind of defeats the point, except three or more Slorgs of the same colour in a row disappear! The second game is set on Kreludor and you are a Grundo controlling the X-1000 Slorgerisier which works in a similar way to the Slorgeriser X4. Peril for the Slorgs in these games are high as they risk destruction. Ghost Bopper Peril: * Located in a Haunted Woods Graveyard ghost petpets are rising from the ground ready to cause untold havoc and it's your job to bop them with a tombstone and send them back underground. The game features Greebles for 1 point per bop, Faellie for 2 points, Deaver for 3 points and Ona for an amazing 4 points. As the petpets are ghosts the peril rating is only **, as a tombstone is more of an annoyance than danger to them. Mop 'n' Bop Peril: * Various muddy petpets are wandering around in the Hall of Heros. As Janitor it's your job to clean up after them, and you understand that to mean clean them up too! Patrolling with your trusty mop you wipe up the messy floor as well as swinging it at any petpets that cross your path too. Petpets are in danger of getting a good soaking, but no real harm. Kiss the Mortog Peril: **** This simple game can have dire consequences for the Mortogs involved. In the first round you have a choice of two Mortogs to pick from, give one a smooch and see if it turns into a prince or princess to proceed to the next round. If you are unlucky in your selection the poor petpet will explode! Again, this game features an avatar for guessing correctly up to the fourth round. And to end lets have some less villainous games: Crisis Courier Peril: *** This game features two petpet species working against each other. You control the Yooyu who must deliver a message, and Minitheus cause you to lose lives if you touch the wrong colour. You can switch between being a fire or a snow Yooyu, the fire Yooyu is able to defeat red Minitheus whilst the snow defeats blue. Whilst navigating the skies watch out for buildings and cliffs, touching them will cause you to fall from the sky and lose a life. Petpet Plunge Peril: * Working for Sir Pompadour the Skeith, these petpets bounce around the Maraquan seabed collecting seashells. You control the direction and speed of a cute little Marafin, Mundo and Bubblebee, aiming to ricochet off bubbles in different directions to collect seashells in as few moves as possible. In later levels other species of petpets, such as Arkmites, Ghotis and Darpinches block your path. As the only danger in this game comes from Sir Pompadour overworking the Marafin it has a peril rating of *. Piper Panic Peril:* This low peril game involves Cobralls slithering across a charmers mat from basket to basket collecting gems and bonus points. There is no risk of harm to the petpet, only the chance of it escaping off the carpet and into the desert if there is no basket to land in. Snowmuncher Peril: *** Dieter the Polarchuck has 90 seconds to get to the bottom of each level, and between Dieter and the bottom is a whole load of multi-coloured snow blocks. Dieter can eat the blocks, and remove all the touching blocks that are the same colour, however eat too much and Dieter will be too bloated to continue. Bloat-Be-Gone potions are available capable of reducing up to 50% of your bloat level. There are also gems and extra time spread around the levels. Snow Wurms hide in the blocks and will chase after Dieter, so try and trap them. However, Dieter can be at risk from blocks falling on him, so be careful what you eat. This game is given a 3 star peril rating due to danger of being snowed in, over-eating, and running out of time. Thank you for reading my articles, I hope you have been inspired to go check out some of these games, remember no petpets are actually harmed in the playing of these games!
